Henry Herbert Tailors was introduced by CharlieBaker-Collingwood to continue the tradition of fineEnglish tailoring by Henry Herbert, the oncemaster of the royal wardrobe to both King CharlesI and King Charles II. Based in Central London.the quintessentially British tailors handcraft thefinest bespoke suits and shirts to the higheststandards of traditional Savile Row tailoring.

“True to the highest standards of traditional SavileRow tailoring, we use the finest fabrics, the finesttailors and, hopefully, the finest service, ” Charlietold Elite Living Africa. A very smart and slimfitting three piece suit from Henry Herbert featuresa slim pair of trousers, a double breasted waistcoatand single breasted two button jacket. Designed inEngland, most of the suit has been hand tailoredand will take 8-9 weeks to make – with a half waybaste fitting and then a forward baste fitting beforethe suit is finished and delivered. The cloth is madeby Holland & Sherry using 100 per cent wool andthe lining from Dugdales in Huddersfield withworking buttons and horn buttons.

A selection of different designs and styles ofcufflinks from Henry Herbet compliment the suitperfectly. As Spring approaches, Henry Herbert hasconsulted its customers on what they are lookingfor. “So, Spring/Summer 2017, like the yearsbefore, I’d say our customers are looking for classic,smart, sharp style. As a small independent tailoringfirm, we take our direction from our customers,and we seem to see a traditional rhythm everyyear.”

The tailor offers busy customers a Savile Row byScooter service, where a Henry Herbert tailor willbring a full range of fabric samples right to theirdoor and all the materials they need for the initialconsultation or subsequent fitting. “And so HenryHerbert Tailors and our Savile Row by Scooterservice was born - using a custom built fleet ofVespa scooters, using full trained tailors, to meetcustomers around the clock.”

Charlie rightly notes that the bigger fashion houseshave decided on their Spring/Summer collections ayear or two in advance. Versace for instance. Thefashion house’s Spring Summer 2017 collectionfeatures a wonderful selection of men suits.‘Lightweight, layered, fluid, functional’ - the 2017collection reflects the way men live their livestoday, says Versace. “Tailoring is aboutfunctionality” - from the unstructured jersey suitjacket that keeps its shape, to the tailored pantswith elasticated waist and cuff. Commenting on thecollection, Donatella Versace says “I love change. Iwant to push Versace forwards, and capture thespirit of individuality and creativity in the men thatI love.” The Versace suit is refreshed and lightenedin the Autumn/Winter 2017 collection. The strongsilhouette is now neat to the body, with a softconstructed shoulder for the way men weartailoring today.

Joseph Abboud recently showcased his Autumn2017 collection at New York Fashion Week: Men’s.“We continue to celebrate the American man,American production, and the masculineindividuality that is inherently Joseph Abboud,"states the designer. Speaking about what inspiredhis collection Joseph adds, "I was deeply inspiredby the striking architecture of Gothic cathedrals,which is reflected in the construction of theclothing—lapels are exaggerated, coats aresweeping, cape-like, and our signature Traced Fit isslightly relaxed to allow for ease of movement."

Burberry has a range of versatile suits for all tastes.The star-studded Fashion Awards 2016 held at TheRoyal Albert Hall in London saw a number ofguests dressed head-to-toe in Burberry attire.Presenting the awards, British comedian JackWhitehall welcomed a host of celebrities, opting fora classic Burberry tuxedo for the event. DomhnallGleeson, actor and star of Burberry's recentChristmas campaign ‘The Tale of Thomas Burberry’wore a black silk jacket, tuxedo trousers and silkscarf by Burberry. While Derek Blasberg was daringin pink sporting a rose pink velvet jacket teamedwith a pair of black tuxedo trousers by the fashion ABOVE : Henry Herbert suit and shirt with Union Jack cufflinks.

British actor Douglas Booth and previousBurberry campaign star wore a textured cotton silktuxedo by Burberry, while Bulgarian tennis playerGrigor Dimitrov was also in attendance, wearingBurberry’s navy wool notch lapel tuxedo.Christopher Bailey, Burberry chief creative andchief executive officer was behind Burberry’sTudor collection unveiled in September 2016. Thepieces featured were inspired by Virgina Woolf's"Orlando,"and included a pair of wide leg wooltrousers and a ruffled high neck stripe shirt tocompliment a bespoke blazer, offering the perfectpieces for a more relaxed look.

For the February collection, Christopher tookinspiration from the work and process of Britishartist Henry Moore. His take on scale, shape andtexture is reflected in the form of sculpturalsilhouettes and asymmetric designs. “Moore’s workon display will be a shining example of thecreativity and enormous contribution he made tothe development of contemporary art in the UKand way beyond, and I’m excited to be showingour February collection alongside the remarkablework of the artist that inspired it,” saysChristopher. The February 2017 collection will beunveiled as part of the brand’s second straight-to-consumer show on 20 February, following whichthe collection will be available to purchaseimmediately.

Lagos-based men's clothing line, Caesar Couture,has a variety of men’s suits for all occasions thatcan be tailored to the client’s specifications.Founded back in 2000 by Esosa Ogedegb, thefashion label showcased their collection at AfricaFashion Week London in September last year.Commenting on the collection Caesar Couturesays,“We were able to stand out because ourfabrics have till date, been specially handpickedfrom the best textile designs worldwide to suiteach individual client’s needs. For this reason, ourclients are assured of that exceptional uniqueness.We are very detailed and because we know thatnot everyone can wait five weeks for a bespokesuit, we pay attention to timelines and ensure weget it to our clients in just three weeks.” �
