St. Peter's Good News Lutheran Church Newsletter
Well, my last Sunday has come and gone; and what a memorable one it was. Thank you for being there to say good-bye, for all the cards, and well wishes, and gifts. And a special thank you for the brunch that followed.
The food and especially the desserts were delicious and gave me a chance to talk to many of you. The morning was much appreciated. I have many good memories of St. Peter's. Just a reminder that my pastoral duties will continue through August 28. I would just like to leave you with a prayer that has been meaningful to me in my journey and maybe for you also as you move into the future:
Oh God, you have ca l led your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not
knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Christ our Lord, Amen! (Prayer by Eric Milner White)

HARVEST HOME
FOOD DRIVE
Harvest Home Sunday
will be held on Sunday,
September 24. It is the
time of year when the Social Ministry Committee
has our Harvest Home Food Drive.
Beginning in September, we will be handing out
grocery bags for you to fill as much as you’re
able. Canned soup, vegetables, fruit, juices
or cereal, pasta, etc. are examples of
what ’s needed.
They especially need protein items such as tuna fish, peanut butter, canned meats, etc. They are also collecting some paper products to the list such as toilet tissue, tissues and paper towels. Let ’s all think about the local people who are in need and make this the best Food Drive ever. Thank you for any way you can support this cause!
St. Peters Lutheran Church Women
St. Peters LCW will begin
meet ing on September 12
to p lan for our 2017 -2018
act iv i t ies. Among our various responsibilities
are planning dinners, making soup for Super
Bowl Sunday, hosting funeral luncheons and
covered dish luncheons, preparing holiday gift
baskets for shut-ins and staff and keeping the
kitchen well supplied and in tip-top shape for all
to use.
We are always looking for anyone who is willing
to help with any of these activities. You do not
necessarily have to attend our meetings in order
to participate but if you are free on the 2nd
Tuesday of the month for a luncheon meeting
please join us.
We meet in the Fellowship Hall at 11:30AM for
lunch with our business meeting starting at
noon. You should bring a light lunch – dessert
will be provided by one of our members. Please
join us for lunch, fellowship and fun!
St. Peters Stitchers Do you like to crochet or knit? Are you good with a sewing machine? If so the St. Peters Stitchers could
use your help. We are a group of volunteers who enjoy working with our hands and ( throughout the year) we st i tch chemo-therapy hats , shawls, lap-robes, afghans, children ’s afghans,
These are all donated to many local nursing homes, assisted living centers, shut-ins, and the cancer centers for St. Luke's, Easton, and Lehigh Valley Hospitals. We provide all the necessary yarn and material as well as patterns and instructions or you may use your own favorite patterns. Many of the shawls, afghans and lap-robes are given to the various nursing homes at Christmas to be used for presents. This is a way to help the less fortunate from the comfort of your home. Please contact Marilyn Hart at 610-759-0408 or Kathleen Campbell at 570-242-3200 or email [email protected].

Doing God’s work through our hands is a never-ending endeavor. Every
day we commit our God given time, talents, and worldly possessions to
continue God’s work as a community of faith. We are now at a time when
we need to reflect on our commitment to use these gifts for His work.
Starting with Rally Day on September 10th, the Committees of St. Peter’s
will be featured each month with a table in the Narthex and a brief write up in the bulletin and the
newsletter. Volunteer opportunities will be identified by each committee; opportunities within St.
Peters that will be suitable for your time and talents.
Remember that St. Peters is a giving and caring congregation doing God's work through our hands.
As we move forward, we ask everyone to prayerfully consider their commitment of time, talents, and
resources to the mission we share at St. Peters.
God Bless,
The Committees of St. Peter’s
