HOUSE SCHOOL Luckle e Perfect Location for Boarding Luckley House is an outstanding boarding school located in Wokingham, Berkshire. The perfect location for international boarders, at just 30 minutes from London Heathrow airport and set in a beautiful semi-rural area which has been regularly voted in the top 5 safest places to live in the UK. Traditionally a girls only school, we had our first intake of boys in September 2015 into Years 7 and 12. We currently have seven boys enrolled for Year 7 and four boys into Year 12. Year 8, 9 and 10 (as of 2015) will remain as girls only throughout their schooling with us. The uniqueness of our school lies in the combination of its Christian ethos and size (up to 280 pupils). A focus on the individual brings an education that affirms talent and develops potential. The school has been seen as progressive and successful, and never more so than in recent years, with developing facilities and rising academic standards. Our small class sizes ensure full participation of all students in each lesson, providing the very best support, maximising their potential in every area of school life. At GCSE, our average ‘value added’ is one GCSE grade, which means that our pupils achieve an average of a grade higher in each subject than pupils of similar ability in other schools. Luckley boasts Fantastic FacilitiesOur school is set in safe and secure grounds, with modern classrooms, new science labs, contemporary boarding accommodation, a state of the art music centre, well-equipped art studios and a large Sports Centre with extensive playing fields, tennis courts, fitness suite, climbing wall and fully sprung dance floor. A new state of the art Performing Arts Centre is under construction and is due for completion by March 2016. The Centre will house a 179-seat auditorium, a dance and drama studio, a workshop, classrooms and offices. We have separate boarding houses for boys and girls. The accommodation has a vibrant atmosphere, and is warm and friendly. Younger pupils share small dormitories, with senior students sharing modern, comfortable twin bedrooms. There are also some single rooms available for Sixth Form students. All boarders are encouraged to personalise their own space with photos, posters and treasures.

Pastoral Support: A home from homeOur small and lively boarding community offers exceptional pastoral care. Our boarding house staff, supported by current boarders, is skilled at ensuring new boarders are absorbed into the ‘Luckley Family’ with ease, and students soon become settled and happy. Each student has a dedicated member of staff to go to for personal guidance and has daily contact with their form tutor, who takes a close interest in their academic and social welfare.

Free Pick Up and Drop of Service from Heathrow AirportWe provide a free pick up and drop off service between Luckley House School and London Heathrow Airport (between 9am and 4pm Mon to Fri).

No Compulsory Exeat Weekends Exeat weekends are not compulsory at Luckley. We do however have a “quiet weekend” once a half term, when boarders will be encouraged to go home with a friend. However pupils may stay in the boarding facility if preferred. All overseas boarders are still expected to have a guardian based in the UK.

FeesOur boarding fees are £9091 per term for 2015/16. This includes all meals, books and after-school activities. As part of our ‘move to coeducation’ we are offering a substantial discount of 15% off academic and boarding fees for boys who join us in September 2016.

Applying for a placeWhere families live overseas, parents should complete the registration form and submit it with a £75 registration fee, either directly, or via an agent. The school will require an initial report giving an account of the academic achievements and personal qualities of the student. The applicant will be required to sit appropriate entrance papers under examination conditions and take an ‘English as a Second Language’ (ESL) written test to determine their level of English. Arrangements can be made for applicants to sit our papers at their current school. Applicants will also be invited to have a SKYPE interview with the Head, Mrs Jane Tudor if they are unable to visit the school in person.
