LSU Flores MBA Program Energy Specialization

The E. J. Ourso College of Business has set a standard for outstanding undergraduate and graduate education by developing students who are innovative and ready to contribute to the bottom line of corporations. The LSU Flores MBA Program energy specialization will, in part, build upon the traditional core curriculum offered and provide classes that prepare our students for diverse and exciting careers in the energy industry.

This curriculum is designed to provide the broad skills and knowledge needed by the next generation of energy professionals. Not only will students take classes that are specific to the energy sector, they will also be provided a wide range of learning opportunities, including site visits, access to speakers in the industry, case competitions, energy conferences and expos, and industry-related internships.

What Does the Energy Specialization Provide?

About 65,000 people in the state are directly employed in the energy sector. Dean White has been quoted in LSU’s Daily Reveille as saying that this initiative will have two main purposes: to make students in the LSU Flores MBA Program more competitive in the job market and provide the energy industry with more qualified applicants. Additionally, he has two goals: for students to understand the terminology, definitions, and value streams within the energy industry, as well as be self-selected when they interview for their future careers. The initiative will align with LSU’s new Power Players campaign, which is designed to help university researchers and the energy industry interact.
