WORD Network SUNDAY @ 6pm

Dear City of Praise Family,

We want to commend all of the super women and super men who are single parents, raising children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord without the help or the presence of the other parent. You are mama and daddy, protector, provider, friend and fighter for that child. Whether your mate passed, became sick or just walked out on you, be encouraged. You are not alone. There is no void in your life that God cannot or will not fill. He has promised to be a “father to the fatherless, a defender of widows” (Psalm 68:5). God told us to let you know that He will never walk out on you. He is there for you, and He is with your children. He will protect and keep your children. He will not let them fall to the left nor to the right. He said he will make your descendants great. Your children and your grandchildren will grow up to bring God glory, and a thousand generations that come from your body will live to raise up a praise unto Him. And just as you want no less than the absolute best for your children, always remember that God feels the exact same way about you.

God bless you,

Bishop Joel and Pastor Ylawnda Peebles

Lion’s Roar

By: Bishop Joel Peebles

SINGLE AND SUCCESSFULEach of us has been assigned by God

to complete specific purposes here on earth. These purposes are for certain times and different stages of our lives, but they all have an ultimate and final goal—to lead people to Christ.

If you are unmarried, you are where God wants you to be right now. There are things that need to be done for Him that require the time, the energy and the freedom that a married person does not have. Apostle Betty used to tell us that when you are married, your time and attention is divided—one hand is lifted in reverence to God, putting him first of course, while the other hand is busy taking care of spouse, home and children. But the single person can lift both hands to the Lord at all times, ready, willing and able to devote his time to what God has in mind for him to do. The Apostle Paul, a single man, said “I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God.” (1 Cor. 7:7) By this he meant that unmarried people are able to devote themselves completely to the ministry. However, he understood that both marriage and singleness are gifts from God, and each has its own advantages to accomplishing His purposes.

Paul also said in Phil. 4:11, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” Singles, be at peace where you are. Enjoy this season. Embrace it as a special time and place in your life where you can do great things for God. With this gift of singleness comes a special anointing that is sufficient to keep you in every circumstance. This is the time when you can learn to completely trust in Him, to know that He has a plan for you and that He will not fail you. This is the time when

you get to know not only God but yourself, as He reveals to you your strengths and weaknesses, and prepares you for the next stage in your life. He is working on making you complete and ready for that special person or stage that is next on His agenda for you. When it is the right time, God will bring it to you.

In the beginning God put Adam in the Garden of Eden and gave him certain responsibilities. God looked at Adam and realized that “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis 2:18). Although God had already intended to give Adam the gift of marriage, it was planned for a specific time. Adam had work to do. God had given Adam a charge to name all of the animals that He had made. When this was completed, “Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.” (Genesis 2:22) After God made Eve, He saw all that He had done and said, “it was very good.” (Genesis 1:31) That means that among the other creations, God had made a woman who was perfect for Adam.

God made you for a reason and you are so valuable to Him. When you realize this, I mean fully understand this, know it in your knower, lock it in your heart so well that no one can pressure you into believing otherwise, then you are successful. You are satisfied with where God has you at this time, and your mind and body are free to be used by Him as He sees fit. This is your gift time. Congratulations, because right now, it’s all about Jesus and you.

I wanted to give the testimonies of healings that have happened after the Monday night

intercessory prayer. After prayer I asked if anyone needed prayer, and on three different occasions there were healings that took place.

At the Roosevelt High School location there have been two healings. One lady was healed of a stiff neck that was very painful and had lingered for a period of time. She could not move her neck normally but after prayer she could move her neck and she was totally surprised and blessed by the sudden healing. On another occasion a sister in Christ was healed of an ear problem. She felt a great peace come upon her, and she said that her ear felt different and she could hear.

On May 5 at the Forestville location, there were three people who joined us for prayer. One of them came in on a walking wheel chair. When we finished the intercessory prayer I asked her if I could pray for her and she said yes. Her legs and

ankles were very swollen. She said she had blood clots and edema (swelling in her legs and ankles). After prayer I asked her to stand and walk and she did but a little slowly. We continued to praise God and pray in the Spirit. She sat down for a few minutes as we continued to worship and praise God. I asked her if she wanted to walk again and she got up but this time she was walking better and her feet began to straighten up. By the fourth time she was walking with hands up and praising God without assistance. God had some words of prophecy for her and she began to weep and praise God because not only was she walking but the swelling had begun to go down as well.

We give God all praise, honor and glory for the great things He has done!!!

CELEBRATING

50 YEARS OF OUR LEGACY

Has anyone ever told you that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life? I have a

real quick but important question to ask you. If you were to die this very second, do you know for sure, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you would go to Heaven? [If they answer “Yes”, you say, “Great! Why would you say ‘Yes’? If they respond with anything but “I have Jesus in my heart” or something similar to that PROCEED WITH SCRIPT. If they answer “NO” or “I hope so” PROCEED WITH SCRIPT.]

Let me quickly share with you what the Holy Bible says. It says “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” and “for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. The Bible also says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”. And you’re a “whosoever”, right? Of course you are; all of us are.

I’m going to say a quick prayer for you. Lord, bless (FILL IN NAME) and his/her family with long and healthy lives. Jesus, make Yourself real to him/her and do a quick work in his/her heart. If (FILL IN

NAME) has not received Jesus Christ as his/her Lord and Savior, I pray he/she will do so now.

(FILL IN NAME), if you would like to receive the gift that God has for you today, say this after me.

“I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord. Forgive me of my sin. Wash and cleanse me. Set me free. Lord Jesus, Thank You that you died for me. I believe that God raised you from the dead and that You’re coming back again for me. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Give me a passion for the lost, a hunger for the things of God and a holy boldness to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I’m saved. I’m born again. I’m forgiven and on my way Heaven because I have The Lord Jesus in my heart.”

As a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I tell you today that all your sins are forgiven. Always remember to run to God and not from God because He loves you and has great plan for your life.

[Invite them to your church and get follow up info; name, address and phone number.]
