The Auxiliary’s 30th annual Taste of the Town, held on October 23 rd , attracted over 360 guests, who eagerly tasted the delicious offerings of fourteen area restaurants and caterers, then voted for their favorite appetizer, entrée, and dessert. The Auxiliary is especially grateful to the restaurants and caterers who support this event every year. A list of these restaurants and caterers can be found elsewhere in this newsletter. Please patronize these establishments and when you do, mention Taste of the Town. This year’s Taste of the Town was special for two other reasons. First, we were fortunate to have as honorary co-chairs Mrs. Jean Mansfield McCaffery and Mrs. Clementine Alexis, who were instrumental in organizing the first Taste of the Town. Second, thanks to Pam and Jody White, we had Billy Costa of KISS 108’s Matty in the Morning and NESN’s Dining Playbook as our master of ceremonies. In addition to the food offerings, attendees were offered the opportunity to purchase chances for twenty-two unique raffle baskets, participate in the live auction, and purchase January Raffle Calendars. Gross receipts for this successful event were a record breaking $72,365. The proceeds will help honor the Auxiliary’s four year pledge to support the expansion of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and construction of a healing garden with a labyrinth. On behalf of the Auxiliary I offer my sincere thanks to all of the individuals and businesses who supported our signature event. Other fall fundraising events included: • Festival of Holidays — This event, held on both the Main and Saints campuses, features special holiday merchandise in addition to merchandise regularly available in our gift shop. Thanks to gift shop manager Donna Theone, her staff, and the Auxiliary volunteers for their support of this annual event. • Book Fairs — Successful book fairs were held on the Main Campus, Saints Campus, and in Tyngsboro. Special thanks to Linda Carson, Joy Deschene and Susan Dionne for organizing these fairs and to the auxiliary volunteers who assisted in staffing the fairs. • January Raffle — These always popular calendars, with wonderful prizes to be drawn daily, remain on sale throughout the month of January in the Lowell General Hospital Gift Shops. The calendars are $10 each or three for $25. Thanks to Alex Regan and her committee for organizing the calendar and the Auxiliary volunteers as well as Kelly Will and Jessica Field from Philanthropy for assisting with sales. Thank you to all Auxiliary board members and volunteers who assisted with these events. Our success is due to your commitment. You should be very proud of these accomplishments. Happy 30th Annual! On Sunday, October 23, 360 guests indulged in the delicious offerings at the Lowell General Hospital Auxiliary’s 30th Annual Taste of the Town at the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center. The event featured special guest Billy Costa of KISS 108’s Matty in the Morning and NESN’s Dining Playbook. Also in attendance were the honorary co-chairs of the evening, Mrs. Jean Mansfield McCaffery and Mrs. Clementine Alexis, who were both instrumental in developing the first Taste of the Town.

Fourteen restaurants and caterers generously donated their time, delicious food and celebratory spirit. Billy Costa visited with each restaurant and highlighted their menus and restaurants. A huge thank you to 110 Grill, British Beer Company,
