INTRODUCTION
CreepDrive™ system is a hybrid mechanical-hydraulic transmission for vehicles that travel at normal speed and work at low speed. The system allows vehicles to work at very low constant speed regardless of the engine speed, allowing auxiliary systems to take the power they need to perform work effectively.When the system is disengaged, the vehicle is able to drive at normal on-road speed with no additional losses.

Improper use
CreepDrive™ motors are not equipped with a brake!
Risk to life or injury in case of loss of hydrostatic braking. The CreepDrive™ motor will not stop the vehicle.
■ CreepDrive motors must be installed only on vehicles that are equipped with an independent braking system.
CreepDrive™ motors are not intended for use outside listed torquelimits.

■ Functional Torque Limit (FTL) means the torque to which the driveshaft can be loaded without yielding or ....creating plastic deformation of any of the parts that adversely affect the driveshaft kinematics or durability..■ For dynamic applications, proper product selection must be checked depending on expected service life and ....torque duty cycle. Not all SAE flange connections can transmit the FTL by friction.

Principle of function
The vehicles equipped with a CreepDrive™ system features two independent transmission types:• Hydrostatic• Mechanical
Shifting from one to another is simply done by activating a switch.
The mechanical transmission is used for traveling on the road, while its hydraulic counterpart is used for working at low speed. When the hydrostatic transmission is applied, using a closed loop system design, the wear on the primary brake system is reduced due to the dynamic braking provided by the hydrostatic system.
To use the hydrostatic drive, the gearbox is set at neutral while the engine PTO is engaged to drive the pump that supplies flow to the hydraulic motor.
Moreover, the CreepDrive™ system eases the remote control of the machine. At low speed, the electronic control is responsible for starting the vehicle smoothly, regulating the cruise control and ensuring safe dynamic braking. This frees the driver’s attention from the monotonous driving functions and allows him to focus on the quality of his work.
The CreepDrive™ motor is at the heart of the system. Mechanically linked to the transmission shaft at its input and output, the CreepDrive™ motor is placed between the transmission and the drive axle.
A light and compact package can fit every type of transmission brand.
Risk of improper use of the CreepDrive™ system.
An improper use may result in damages of internal parts of the hydraulic components and damages of parts of the .transmission.
■ The use of the main transmission is not allowed when the CreepDrive™ motor is engaged. The gearbox must be ....in neutral..■ Engagement and disengagement of CrepDrive™ motor must be done when the vehicle is stopped with gearbox ....in neutral and brakes activated.
When the engine is cut-off, the CreepDrive™ motor is disengaged of the shaft.
The CreepDrive™ system is inoperable when the brake is activated.
The CreepDrive™ system is inoperable when the oil temperature exceeds 80°C [176°F].

Function
Exchange valves are for use in bleeding hot oil from the low pressure side of a hydrostatic transmission circuit. The hot oil can be cooled, filtered or used as a source of oil for flushing other pump and motor case.

SHIFTING-PILOTING VALVE
Risk from improper wiring or premature wiring damage of the electronic devices.
A default or an improper wiring can induce injury due unintended truck behavior: brutal change of speed .(acceleration or deceleration) or freewheel.
■ Wire the shifting devices according to latest state of art..■ Use proper cable section and cable protection..■ Use electric connectors according to application requirements..■ Fix the wiring to avoid premature wear or damage. Check that the wire cannot be cut or torn off during machine ....movement or operation..■ The non-used wires and/or pins should be individually insulated because of possible voltage..■ Qualify the relay according to application requirements..■ Qualify the gearbox neutral information device (sensor, CAN, ...) according to application requirements.

An improper oil filtration may result in pollution of hydraulic circuit and damages of internal parts of the hydraulic .components.
■ Select filtration system according to application requirements..■ Check daily that hydraulic filter is not clogged..■ Check regularly the hydraulic oil cleanliness is within Poclain Hydraulics recommendations..■ Replace the filter and hydraulic oil at the maintenance period defined by the truck body-builder or truck ....manufacturer.
Risk from hydraulic fluid leakages.
A damage on the hydraulic piping may induce pollution and collision from other vehicles due to drop of hydraulic .fluid on the ground.
■ Pipe the hydraulic circuit according to latest state of art and pressure level required..■ Tighten the hydraulic connectors according to suppliers torque recommendations..■ Fix the hydraulic pipes to avoid premature wear or damage. Presentation
Poclain Hydraulics has designed the CreepDrive™ Box to simplify installation of the CreepDrive™ system on vehicles.
The CreepDrive™ Box contains the following elements:
1x Control unit 1x Main wiring harness
The control unit includes:
Wiring harness terminated with several connectors for connecting all components of the hydrostatic transmission to the control unit.
• Joystick which sets the hydraulic motor tractive effort on forward and reverse directions.
• Display which provides speed and system information.
• SmartDrive™ Easy Plus ECU.
• Start, Stop and emergency stop buttons for CreepDrive™ system.
• Light indicator for hydraulic motor engagement.

Functions of the SmartDrive™ ECU
The software functions available with the control unit are:
• Control of the CreepDrive™ hydrostatic transmission.• Limitation of the engine overspeed.• Limitation of the system pressure / power / torque.• Regulation of the speed.• Diagnostic with SmartDrive™ Display.• Control of the stop / reverse light.
These software functions can be customized via PHASES software. The parameters may be subject to special access authorization.

• The brake and reverse lights do not need to be relayed (Relays in the control unit. Max. current of 5A).• A 16 A fuse is integrated into the control unit.• The two wires Vbat+ and Vbat- must be plugged and supplied with the supply voltage of the battery after the contact (ignition key).
Input wiring for ’’Parking brake / Service brake’’The switch / sensor "parking brake / brake service" must be closed to allow the engagement of the CreepDrive™ system. This input is active in the high state. The battery voltage must be connected to the switch / sensor "Parking brake / brake service".
Input wiring for ’’Neutral gear’’The switch / sensor "Neutral gear" must be closed to allow the engagement of the CreepDrive™ system. This input is active in the low state. The earth must be connected to the switch / sensor "Neutral gear".
Output wiring for ’’Stop/Reverse lights’’Lamps supply by the CreepDrive™ Box control unit will be done in parallel with vehicule harness. It has to be checked that voltage presence on vehicule harness lights control doesn't create any error or dysfunction.

Use of the CAN BUS
A CAN BUS termination plug is delivered mounted on the control unit connector X3.
If the vehicle CAN BUS is not activated, wire a termination resistance on connector X3:
• either by using the CAN BUS terminaison plug.• or linking the wires 6 and 7 of the vehicle status wiring harness (X3).
If the vehicle CAN BUS is activated, (information of the speed engine, gear box neutral, parking brake / service brake), plug the CAN BUS to the control unit with the vehicle status harness or the main wiring harness.

3. Re-assemble B and A: The "3" mark has to be nearest the gland.
Refit the packing gland and the screw.
Pump must be oriented in the machine with control on the top or side of the pump. It cannot be on the bottom.

ONBOARD SOFTWARE
Onboard software design
1 - Install PHASES Easy Design (A04904F).2 - Install Easy Design CDM database (A49556Q).3 - Launch PHASES and click on SmartDrive™ Easy Design.4 - Click on "Start a new design".5 - Select “select your pump”, then select "One pump", desired voltage,’’Use a SmartDrive™
Easy’’ or "Use a Creep Drive Box" (CreepDrive™ Box will need to also include "Display 1.5 management"). Validate your choices and clickon "Next >>".
6 - In functions screen:
• Select "CreepDrive™ management" and all sub functions matching your application.• Select "Driving mode" and all sub functions matching your application.• Select "Pressure limitation (flow cancellation)" and all sub functions matching your
application.• Select other functions accordingly to your application.• Click on Next to view your choices list.• Click on Next to view the wiring drawing. You can print it as wiring reference.• Click on Next and save your design.• Click on Next to download the application. Log-in with ID and password provided in
PHASES Easy Design package. Download the software into the folder in which you saved your design.
Control unit initialization
1 - Connect the PHASES communication cable to the control unit.2 - Launch PHASES and click on "Send / Receive / Open".3 - Click on " Send Program file " and select your design.4 - When PHASES asks for it, switch on the control unit and wait for the end of downloading.
If you already have a parameter file provided by your Poclain Hydraulics Application engineer:
• Click on " Send parameter file " and select the file.• When PHASES asks for it, switch on the control unit and wait for the end of downloading.
If you do not have a parameter file:
• Switch off the control unit and go back to PHASES's home page.• Switch on the control unit: PHASES connects to the control unit.• Access the "Customize" screen. Click on "Restore factory settings" and follow the procedure.• Browse to different parameters categories and adjust parameters values accordingly to your application. Warning: Access to
parameters is protected by a password. Please contact your Poclain Hydraulics Application Engineer to access these parameters.
Joystick calibration
Joystick calibration enables characterizing the joystick.
1 - With control unit powered, in PHASES, click on Calibration and Joystick.2 - Follow the procedure.
The SmartDrive™ Easy Plus is supplied without onboard software.
This task needs to use PC software PHASES Easy Design (A04904F). If you do not have PHASES Easy design, pleasecontact your Poclain Hydraulics application engineer.

This Risk Analysis highlight also requirement on some POCLAIN components integration or use, in case of non-respect of this requirement, POCLAIN responsibility could not be engaged.
Risk from improper pneumatic piping.
A default or an improper pneumatic circuit may result in damages of internal parts of the hydraulic components and .damages of parts of the transmission due to improper CreepDrive™ engagement or disengagement.
■ Pipe the pneumatic circuit according to latest state of art..■ Select pneumatic components according to application requirements..■ Ensure pneumatic circuit and components cleanliness. Validate pneumatic filtration.
Risk from improper pneumatic piping.
A default or an improper pneumatic circuit can induce collision due to uncontrolled CreepDrive™ disengagement .which lead to freewheel of the vehicle.
■ Pipe the pneumatic circuit according to latest state of art..■ Select pneumatic components according to application requirements..■ Ensure pneumatic circuit for CreepDrive™ is independent to the braking circuit..■ Ensure pneumatic circuit and components cleanliness and validate pneumatic filtration..■ Fix the pneumatic pipes to avoid premature wear of damage. Check that the pipes cannot be cut or torn off ....during machine movement or operation..■ Check daily the pneumatic filtration device..■ Check the pneumatic pressure before moving the vehicle and ensure the pressure level is within the truck ....manufacturer requirement. .■ Ensure that pneumatic pressure indicator is in driver’s field of vision and the warning is delivering right signal ....in case of low pneumatic pressure.
Risk from improper PTO (power take-off) selection.
An improper PTO selection can induce a risk of collision with the following vehicle due to deceleration without .stop’s light warning in case of PTO failure.
■ Select and validate truck PTO according to application requirements..■ Ensure that service and parking brake command are always within driver’s reach when the CreepDrive™ system ....is engaged..■ Integrate the CreepDrive™ display in driver’s field of vision.
Risk of engine overloaded.
An overloaded engine may induce collision with following vehicle due to deceleration without stop’s light warning in .case of engine stall.
■ Validate the truck engine performance according to the application requirements (torque, ...) and the power ....required by the transmission..
Risk from improper transmission drive shaft.
An improper drive shaft can induce a risk of collision with the following vehicle due to deceleration without stop’s .light warning in case of shaft failure.
■ Select and validate cardan shaft flanges according to application requirements..■ Ensure the driveshaft is able to transmit the maximum torque of the transmission..■ Integrate the CreepDrive™ motor in order to have input and output flanges of each cardan shafts perfectly ....parallel. Limit the cardan shaft angle according to the supplier recommendation.
