Fellow Cattlemen,On behalf of all of us at Loving Farms, we would like to thank you for taking the time to look over the offering of our fourth annual Predictable Genetics, Proven Performance Sale. It’s often said, but we honestly believe this is the strongest set of bulls top to bottom that we have ever offered and the females are as good as we have ever let go of. The last few year’s weather and conditions, as well as, expensive feed and limited grass have forced us to lean our operation for survivability. Many might look at this as a hardship, but it has been the contrary. It has forced us to take a hard look at production traits and genetics and make choices that will not only make us the most efficient we can be, but push our genetics to be their very best. The result is this offering being as consistent and powerful as any Shorthorn genetics you will find in the country.

As you look through this offering, you will see the continued emphasis on birthweight and calving ease. Over 90% of the offering is in the top 15% of the breed for BW epd and 70% for CE epd. As an added note, nearly 90% are in the top 15% for milk epd. Just because we have made a strong push for the convenience traits, doesn’t mean we haven’t pursued the performance end. Each set of bulls are the highest average Yearling weights for their respective groups, showing that you can have calving ease and performance.

The Spring Yearling bulls and heifers will be ultrasound scanned by sale day and their information will be available on our website, www.LovingFarms.com. Also, by the time you receive your catalog, videos of each lot will also be on our site. As an added addition this year, the sale will be broadcasted live on DVauction.com. If you are unable to attend, please log in and join us via the internet.

The auction will be again in the “Cowboy Auction” format. We honestly believe this is the most straight forward way to have an auction. If you can’t be with us, feel free to make arrangements to bid by phone or internet. You can give any of our family or representatives a call and we would more than happy to assist.

The cattle will be available for viewing at any time leading up to the sale. Plan to join us for supper on Friday night the 28th at 6 pm or be sure to be at lunch at noon March 1st just ahead of the sale at 1:00pm CST.

Cowboy Auction ProcedureThe bid-off will start at 1:00 PM CST, March 1. Bulls will have a starting bid of $2,200 and heifers will begin at $1,500. At the time of the bid-off, each individual lot will be announced and all who wish to bid on that lot will be asked to raise their bidder number. Each bidder will be “in” until he chooses to step out and withdraw. Each $100 increment will be announced, and the bidders will be given time to consider whether they are “in” or “out,” before the next increment is announced. When only one bidder remains, they will have “won” that lot.

If you are unable to attend or for advanced bidding, contact any of the listed phone numbers to setup bidding by proxy.

We only had a handful of Marquis in the spring calf crop, but he made an impact. 3016 is as long and deep as they come and his scale pounding performance is well documented in actual data and EPDs. He is moderate in birthweight and frame, making him the complete package.

Semen and Breeding Soundness Exams

All of the older bulls will be semen checked and Breeding Soundness Exam performed by sale day. The Spring yearlings will be checked by delivery date provided they are at least 12 months old.

Insurance

You may purchase insurance on the day of the sale. If insurance is not purchased, bulls will be at the buyer’s risk.

Terms and Conditions

Terms of the sale are cash or check. Payment must be made to the clerk immediately following the sale and before the cattle are removed from the sale facility. Purchasers or their representatives must sign the bill of sale prior to the leaving the sale site.

Liability

Each bull will be at the buyer’s risk as soon as sold, but will be cared for by the sellers for a reasonable amount of time. Neither the owners, employees, nor any other affiliated personnel can be responsible for any accidents, but they will make every effort to

provide for the safety and comfort of those attending.

Delivery

All lots picked up on sale day will receive a discount of $50/lot. All lots not taken sale day will be kept free until April 1, 2013. Delivery can be arranged and will be made at the most reasonable cost.

Genetic Testing

All lots will be defect free by pedigree unless otherwise noted.

Breeding Guarantee

All bulls are guaranteed for the first breeding season, as defined by the first 90 days following turnout. If a replacement bull is available, he will be provided or if the buyer prefers, credit towards one bull will be given in the following sale, less salvage value of the injured bull. All injured bulls must be diagnosed and documented by a veterinarian. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. All claims must be made by September 1, 2013.
