Paducah Tilghman se-nior choir students Haley Massad, Samantha Seifert and Madison Whelan have been selected to perform with the American Cho-ral Directors Association Honor Choir at the ACDA Southern Division Confer-ence to be this winter in Winston-Salem, N.C.
A total of 181 students from 11 states, includ-ing seven from Kentucky, earned an invitation to join the choir. Those selected were chosen based on a re-cording of a selected piece submitted to a panel of ACDA judges. The ACDA membership consists of choral directors who repre-sent more than one million singers across the United States.
The Tilghman song-stresses are each a member of the Paducah Tilghman Choir and the school’s female a cappella group, Concordia. Collectively they have performed over a hundred times in concerts, recitals, musicals, church-es, for weddings, parties, civic clubs and charity functions.
At Tilghman they sing under the direction of choral director Art De-Weese, the October 2011 recipient of Murray State University’s fi rst Outstand-
ing Alumni of the Fine Arts Award.
Beginning Feb. 29 and running through March 3, the ACDA Conference will provide the honor choir members students, educa-tors, administrators, con-ductors, composers and publishers the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops, master classes, and in-depth lectures. The event will conclude with a grand performance conducted by Joe Miller, director of choral activities
at Westminster Choir Col-lege of Rider University in Princeton, N.J.
