This course will be aimed at the level of trauma specialist registrar working at a major trauma centre. The candidate will obtain a sufficient level of understanding of P+A fractures at the FRCS Orth/trauma fellowship level.

Topics include:

• Emergency treatment of the exsanguinating pelvis ring fracture• Emergency/peri-operative treatment of fracture dislocations of acetabular fracture• Understanding the diagnosis and treatment algorithm acetabular fractures• Understanding the diagnosis and treatment algorithm pelvis ring fractures• Peri-operative treatment of associated complications (eg bladder injuries, VTE prophylaxis, sciatic

nerve injuries)• Treatment of fragility fractures of pelvis and acetabulum

Drybone plus image intensifier workshops include:

• Posterior wall/posterior column acetabular fracture, reduction and fixation• Vertical shear pelvis ring fracture reduction with Starr Frame and SI screw fixation• Infix application
