1. Introduction    

Road  Harassment  on  the  Lomé-­‐Ouagadougou  corridor  has  been  documented  by  the  UEMOA/USAID  Trade  Hub  Road  Governance  initiative  since  October  1st  2006.  

The  corridor  is  1020  km  long  of  which746  km  is  in  Togo  and  274  in  Burkina  Faso  

IN  2012,  a  study  by  the  Japanese  International  Cooperation  Agency  (JICA)  found  137  km  of  road  in  good  condition,  and  644  km  in  fair  condition  and  239  km  in  bad  condition.  

The  same  study  registered  a  traffic  level  of  600  trucks  per  day  at  Cinkansé  border  of  which  50%  were  heavy  trucks.  

The  following  graphs  are  based  on  data  collected  from  truck  drivers  through  the  Road  Governance  Initiative,  better  known  as  l’Observatoire  des  pratiques  anormales  or  OPA  for  short
