Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Matthew 15:21-28

“WOMAN, YOU HAVE GREAT FAITH” MEDITATE What is the first step to prayer? Today’s Gospel gives us an answer: humility. The woman comes with an urgent request. But before an apparent refusal, she accept she does not deserve anything. Then Jesus grants her desire. Nothing attracts God more than a humble spirit.

PRAY

Lord Jesus, healer of body and soul, You care for the good of all people.

Grant me the humility to accept my life. Amen ACT Moved by care and concern for her daughter, this woman interceded for her. Perhaps there is someone who needs your prayers?

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK As the sun never stops shining - though we cannot always see its rays - so God is always shedding his graces and his healing powers on each of us. (Attributed to Fulton J. Sheen) THE VIGIL LAMPS WILL BURN THIS WEEK FOR:- Our Lady & St Illtyd Our Lady: Lisa Special Intention Sacred Heart: Baby Max Special Intention St. Cadoc Our Lady: Bill Downey RIP Sacred Heart: Helen Downey RIP LET US PRAY FOR our young people as they prepare to receive their GCSE results on Thursday 24th August.

CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations to all our young people on their AS and A level results; may the Holy Spirit continue to help, inspire and guide them in all ways.

ETERNAL REST Please pray for the repose of the soul of

ALFRED JOHN who passed to the Lord on Wednesday.

Our sincere sympathy and prayers are with his family. MAY HE REST IN PEACE AND RISE WITH CHRIST IN GLORY.

WHAT’S ON IN THE PARISH THIS WEEK? PLEASE NOTE Mass times this week! The PRAYER GROUP meets weekly on THURSDAY at 2.30pm in Our Lady & St. Illtyd for Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Scripture Reading, Prayer and Intercessions.
