Mule Days Fund Raiser:
The 4-H Council will be selling Mule Day’s Magazine again this year as a fund raiser. The
main focus of the sales will be during the parade, on the parade route. In the parade?
Don’t worry there will be other times we will be selling Magazines during the weekend.
Council uses the money earned to pay for countywide events & awards. Please sign-up
with your Community Leader or at the 4-H office.
New Project: Fairgrounds Garden Project: Led by Michelle Denault
How would you like to create the flower beds at the Fairground? Learn how to design & plant flowerbeds to be
on display at the fairgrounds for the spring & summer. All ages welcome, mini members will need parent help.
First meeting, April 25, 4:00pm. at the fairground’s front gate. Nursery trip on April 29, Condition beds on
April 30, and start planting May 1. There will be a rotating schedule of maintenance thru May 20.

Community Service Opportunity:
The Department of Fish & Wildlife contacted 4-H for help cleaning fish at their Trout
Derby at Mule Days. They saw what a great job you do at the local fishing derbies.
Fishing times are: Saturday from 5:00 to 6:30pm and Sunday 12:00-1:30pm. Please sign
up at your next Community Meeting, or by contacting the 4-H office. They need sign-ups
prior to the event, so they know if they need to locate more volunteers.
Junior Livestock Auction Committee— Monday, May 2, 2016
5:30pm, Eastern Sierra Community Bank, Bishop. The Junior Livestock Auction
Committee is the volunteer committee that partners with the Tri-County Fairgrounds to
put on the Livestock Auction at the Junior Livestock Show & Sale. All 4-H Animal project
leaders encouraged to participate. Any 4-H parent of a member taking an animal project is
encouraged to participate as well. Come to the next meeting & see how you can contribute.

Section 5: Collection of 4-H Work
In this NEW section to the record book you can include all 4-H events or activities that
you participated in that do not fall under project work. If you were in the Christmas
parade, helped at a fund raiser or community service event. Certificates from field day,
articles you wrote in the Road Runner, newspaper articles, fliers from events. Use this
section to highlight what a great 4her you are.

Important! Please Read:
Unable to Attend 4-H Livestock Filed Day?
You must call the 4-H office by Thursday, May 12th to excuse yourself. Each 4-H member who does not
attend Livestock Field Day but wishes to show an animal at the Livestock Show and Sale will receive an
alternative assignment. 4-H members who do not contact the 4-H office and who do not complete their
alternative assignment will not be allowed to show an animal at the Junior Livestock Show and Sale.

First time attending the 4-H Livestock Field Day? Here’s what to look forward to!
Registration: from 1:00pm to 1:30pm
Judging will start promptly at 1:30 and conclude at approximately 3:15pm.
Livestock Judging will include Gilts, Market Hogs, Market Lambs, Breeding Ewes, Rabbits, Quarter Horses,
Goats, Chickens, and Market Steers.
When you arrive, you’ll be assigned to a group with a leader. Stay with your group the entire afternoon!
You will get a set of 6 individual judging cards and a Judging Sheet. Fill out the top information on the
Judging Sheet. It will stay with your group and be scored as the day progresses.
At each station, a moderator will teach you how to judge the animals. You will fill out a judging card for each
specie. Make sure you have your first and last name and club on all of your cards and judging sheet. Before
going to the next station the moderator will give the correct placing. You will turn in your judging card at the
end of each station.
Awards will be presented at the end of the days judging.

Section 2: Personal Development Report (PDR)
Section 3: My 4-H Story
Section 4: Project Report (s) - 1 report for each project
you complete.
Section 5: Collection of 4-H Work
Section 6: Leadership Development Report (s) - if a jr. or
teen leader.
Section 7: 4-H Resume - This section is for members 14-
18 years of age as of Jan. 1, 2016
