John Muir Biography

• early American conservationist who has been called the Father of the National Parks System.

• studied botany and geology at the University of Wisconsin

• walked from Indiana to Florida doing botanical sketches

• settled in San Fransisco where he loved the nature

• campaigned for the establishment of Yosemite National Park in 1890.

• His books include The Mountains of California (1894) and Our National Parks (1901)
