1 Live bottom Silos and sludge receival bunkers Technical Details Introduction: SPIRAC livebottom silos and hopper systems are custom designed for application in the wastewater industry, especially for the storage, transfer and outloading of dewatered sludges. While the silos and hoppers follow standardized design features, sizes and orientations can be customized to suit most customer requirements. SPIRAC standardized configurations are also available to provide a wide range of cost effective designs. These silos are top loaded, typically by shaftless spiral incline or vertical/horizontal conveyors, and outloaded by large diameter/large pitch livebottom shaftless screws. These livebottom systems ensure the elimination of arching, rat-holing or any bottle-neck type losses in flowability, even for the stickiest or driest of sludges. The basic silo design incorporates aesthetic considerations through symmetry, consistency and fabrication precision. Storage capacity 25-750 m 3 (1000 - 27,000 ft 3 ) Outloading Capacity 0-200m 3 /hr (0 - 7,000 ft 3 /hr) outloading capacity truck bay (high capacity) or pump/conveyor feed (low capacity). Discharge via multiple knifegate controlled large diameter outlet ports to suit truck dimensions. Design certification and seismic considerations: SPIRAC silo designs are typically structurally certified by a specially qualified structural engineer for static loads as well as seismic zone consideration. Suitable sludge types: Dewatered sludges from centrifuges, plate or belt press, DS range from 10-40% Dried sludges up to 90% DS (special considerations may apply) Available materials of construction: Silos and hoppers can be manufactured from high spec mild steel or stainless steel, with standard structural elements including I-beams, columns, PFC, angles, hollow sections, flat bar and plate steel. Silos can be shop painted to extreme corrosion protection levels or primed for site painting. The Live Bottoms Conveying Technology Purpose built leak proof bell housings for direct mounting of gearboxes. Shaftless spirals (Qty 2-6) of special HTMAS steel, large diameter, large pitch, high strength, for low RPM, high torque operation. Low maintenance and blockage free operation. Heavy reinforcing plates for high static head loads Central discharge with bi-directional spirals SS or K1040 high strength steel shafts.
