Our beloved wooden boat has been a wonderful play area for the children at kinder for many years.

We’re putting together a history on the boat and we suspect that it is 39 years old! We’re looking for fun stories, history photos, any kind of memorabilia about the boat.

Presidents ReportWelcome to Term 3.

Colleen has settled well into teaching the 4 year old groups and is thoroughly enjoying the experience of getting to know all the children and parents. Her and Chris are making a wonderful team and have lots of exciting things planned for our little ones this term, that I’m sure they will absolutely love being involved with.

Michelle Robb has now been with us since the start of the year and is doing a wonderful job in assisting Rochelle with the 3 year old groups. The two “shells” have also made a great team and are working well together whilst having loads of fun with the kids at the same time.

Rochelle too has also settled well into her expanded role of Educational Leader and doing a really great job.

The committee of management have been working tirelessly and are very dedicated to helping our kinder. I personally would like to take the opportunity to thank each member for all their excellent team work, hard work and good quality work and also making the committee experience a great deal of fun – keep up the great work everyone.

We are looking forward to continuing our great year ahead and if there is anything that we can do to help with your kinder experience please do not hesitate to ask us.

Kind RegardsChris Hudson

Joey’s ReportHi everyone,

Firstly Chris and I would like to officially congratulate Sarah on the arrival of her beautiful baby girl Mahlia Joy De Remer born on the 2nd of June a healthy 3.5kg. Sarah and Matt are doing so well her little girl is absolutely beautiful and being the best bub ever! Sarah has been to kinder several times to visit and Mahlia has loved having all the children sing to her.

It has been a real joy getting to know all your children and I am happy that the transition has gone smoothly. Thank you for all your kind feedback and friendly smiles it has made we feel truly welcomed. I only hope the children have enjoyed the experience as much as I have.

We spent the first weeks of last term learning all about Mini-beasts an interest which was sparked by one of our Joey’s finding a millipede in our Kinder garden. We had some crickets, millipedes, a spider and Bob the pet snail come to visit the Kinder. The children were very curious about Mini-beasts and we discovered together what they like to eat, drink and where they like to live.

We then learnt about healthy foods and explored what are healthy and what are sometimes foods. We discovered how to have a healthy and balanced diet by tasting, smelling and cooking lots of fruit, vegetable and herbs. We created a rainbow collage of fruits and vegetables

to help remind us what good foods to eat. We also looked a ways to keep our bodies healthy and tried various types of exercise including yoga and meditation. The pizza restaurant and gym that we created in the home corner was a big success.

We have exploded into third term with a space theme. The children have loved learning about the solar system and space. We have created a space station with the help of the children who have designed and painted our rockets. The children have been very busy role playing intergalactic adventures into space, and have been learning lots of new songs about astronauts, spaceships and aliens.

In the Kinder

we have also enjoyed making our own space creatures using play dough. The space theme has inspired us to draw, paint and create planets with recycled materials. This theme has also helped us to build on our shape and counting knowledge. We have been making shape rockets which has also helped with developing our cutting and gluing skills.

I am looking forward to more exciting learning adventures with the Joeys and welcome any suggestions, talents or children’s interests that you would like to share to extend the four year old program.

Two of our Pinemont families have shared some of their home language and culture with us by reading stories and singing songs in Mandarin and Spanish. We would love to invite all families to share some of their culture please come along to Kinder and cook a favourite family recipe or teach us a game or song.

Warmest RegardsColleen and Chris

Koalas and Possum’s ReportWelcome to term 3! I hope you are all ready to take on another fun filled and busy term! This winter weather has been really chilly but no doubt we will blink and we will see blossom blooming!

Coming back from holidays is always such an exciting time to see each other and to listen to what adventures were had during the break. During our group times we are practicing listening to each other, thinking about the question that has been asked and then contributing to the group conversation. Sometimes it’s tricky to wait our turn at kinder and sometimes we have a turn and then other times we have to wait until next time for our turn! Your children are doing really well with this self regulation...sometimes it’s even tricky for us adults to wait our turn for things!

The start of the term we re establish our routine at kinder. We have been thinking about what season we are in and what changes in our environment take place during Winter. We are also bringing in

concepts of Space in to the program too. Counting backwards to blast off, planet names, stars, moon, astronauts and even gravity are all words we are using.

Your child’s self help skills are also really advancing as the year is progressing. To go outside now, most of the children are giving every effort to putting on their own coats....it’s such a great feeling being able to do something by yourself!

Diane from Wiggly Worm is coming on Thursday 6th Aug. Koalas children are invited to come along on this day too to enjoy this fabulous hour and

half interactive drama, dance and movement incursion. The cost

is $10. Thank you

We will be planning Fathers Day gifts soon and please watch out for a date for dad/grandpa/uncle/special friend to come along to kinder at night in early September.

Thank you for your understanding and patience at the start of this term when I was unwell. I really excited to be back and looking forward to all the learning that this term will bring!

Thanks

Rochelle
