Each story is connected to a child’s everyday experience by an invitation to imitate a virtue of the saint. Stories contain dates of birth and death, biographical information, and feast days. These saint stories will inspire young readers ages 5–7. Volume 2 features St. Patrick, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, St. Anthony, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Michael the Archangel, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Monica, St. Martin de Porres, St. Agnes, and St. Maximilian Kolbe. Saint PatrickWhen Patrick was sixteen,

kidnappers brought him to Ireland.There he took care of sheep for a cruelman. He escaped after six years.

Patrick went to Britain.He became a priest. Soonhe was made Bishop ofIreland. It was hard forhim to go back to Ireland,but he did! At that timethe Irish people did notworship God. Patricktaught them to love God

and his Son, Jesus. He helped them tolove one another. Patrick builtchurches. He helped men becomepriests and women become nuns.

Saint Patrick will help us teach ourfriends who need to learn about Jesus.

Saint Patrick livedfrom about387–493.

He may have beenborn in Scotland.

We celebrate his feastday on March 17.

Saint Thérèse ofLisieux

When Thérèse was a young girl, shewas so sick she nearly died. She askedMary to make her well. Then

something specialhappened. Mary’s statuesmiled at Thérèse. Afterthat, Thérèse was cured!

Thérèse became a nunwhen she was fifteen. Shewas kind and loving toeveryone. She prayed for

everyone. She did the jobs that no oneelse wanted to do. Thérèse never didanything great or special. But she dideverything with love. This was her “littleway” of coming closer to God.

Saint Thérèse will show us many littleways to love God and one another.

Saint Thérèse livedfrom 1873–1897.

She was born inFrance.

We celebrate her feastday on October 1.

Saint Michael theArchangel

Angels are holy spirits. They areGod’s special messengers. SaintMichael is an angel called an archangel.

Archangels are angelleaders. Michael is head ofall the angels in heaven.

A long time ago therewas a battle in heaven.Good angels fought badangels. Saint Michael ledthe good angels. They won

the war against Lucifer, who was theleader of the bad angels.

Today police and soldiers pray toSaint Michael to help them defendwhat is right and good.

We should always try to do what is right.Saint Michael will help us!

Saint Michael haslived since thecreation of the world.

We celebrate hisfeast day onSeptember 29.
