Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Newsletter – November 24, 2016

Dear Parents, So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. Galatians 6:10

Opportunity doesn't come knocking every day. However, when it does, we should certainly seize the opportunity. As Christians, we often talk about being good stewards of our resources and being stewards of what God blesses us with. Our fall fundraising campaign gives us a special opportunity to be responsible stewards. If we can get a 100% contribution rate from our parent community, a local foundation will bestow a gift upon us of $10,000. That $10,000 represents 20% of our fall goal! There is a true need for this target to be reached and for this mountain to be climbed. As you come into our school, you can see the very graphic representation of the families who have contributed to this campaign on the bulletin board to your right. The donation leaves on the tree look good, but I pray that by the end of the month that the tree in our foyer is overgrown with donation leaves and that God's abundance in our lives is represented through the giving that we demonstrate. Remember, being rich is not about how much you have, but about how much you can give. Every donation to this campaign counts. Since you have the opportunity, I pray that all of our households will contribute. Thank you for your support. Adam Reid – Principal Chapel Tomorrow is split chapel. Elementary chapel is at 8:50 am and Secondary is at 9:50 am. Parents are invited to attend.

If students wear a sports jersey they are asked to bring $2.00 towards student council initiatives. Screenagers As educators and parents, we often wonder how much screen time outside of school is OK. Is it affecting homework completion? Is it affecting sleep? Do you find yourself negotiating with your student/child about screen time? Attached is a poster for SCREENAGERS, a documentary directed by Dr Delaney Ruston (http://www.screenagersmovie.com/about/). This will be held at Alcuin College. Through poignant and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance. The film, approximately one hour long, is appropriate for children Grade 5 and up, and for parents of children of any age. Tickets may be purchased online at https://fs6.formsite.com/alcuincollege/form24/index.html Tickets are limited. Please see poster for more details.
