Escape the ordinary and unmask your creativity by arranging color, images and words as you wish. Paper, tape and sprayable ink can turn an ordinary notebook into an extraordinary art journal. No rules. No experience necessary. Supplies provided, but feel free to bring your own creative materials to share. Teens and adults, drop in to the Walt Art Studio any time between 1 and 4 p.m. WED., July 1, 3:30 to 5 p.m. En Garde! Keep calm and PARRY on! Come in to Walt to watch a free movie loaded with great fencing and intrigue on our meeting room big screen. Members of the Lincoln Fencing Club will thrill you with an awesome duel to show off their award-winning fencing techniques. If you don't know anything about fencing, you will get the POINT soon enough. It's not for the FEINT of heart! SAT., July 11, 1 to 3 p.m. Frankentoys They're so creepy, they're cute! Teens in grades six through 12 are invited to use toys and their imaginations to assemble one-of-a-kind creations from the recycled parts. We will provide the laboratory of supplies and parts for you to engineer your very own mutants to rival the likes of Dr. Frankenstein! Bring your inner mad scientist! SAT., July 25, 1 to 3 p.m. Monsters Staff from University of Nebraska 4-H will teach you to design and build an electronic textile creation. Participants will use conductive thread and LED lights along with their imaginations to build a stuffed monster with glowing eyes. This workshop is part of a statewide initiative to teach basic principles of engineering design. Preregistration is required. Students must be entering grades six through nine this fall. There is a limit of 20 students, and materials are provided. Call 402-441-4460 to register. TUESDAYS, June 9 - 14, 1 to 2 p.m. Fantasy and Science Fiction Book Group Whether you are a die-hard fantasy fan, or more at home among distant planets with science fiction, this book group is for you. Studentswill learn basics about bookbinding techniques to sew multiplesections of pages on the side with elegant stitching to create abeautiful and useful book. Pre-register by calling 402-441-8540.
