Teens in grades six through 12 areinvited to use toys and their imaginations to assemble one-of-a-kindcreations from the recycled parts. We will provide the laboratory ofsupplies and parts for you to engineer your very own mutants to rivalthe likes of Dr. Frankenstein! Bring your inner mad scientist!
SAT., July 25, 1 to 3 p.m.MonstersStaff from University of Nebraska 4-H will teach you to design andbuild an electronic textile creation. Participants will use conductivethread and LED lights along with their imaginations to build a stuffedmonster with glowing eyes. This workshop is part of a statewideinitiative to teach basic principles of engineering design.Preregistration is required. Students must be entering grades sixthrough nine this fall. There is a limit of 20 students, and materialsare provided. Call 402-441-4460 to register.

A geodesicdome is formed entirely of triangles, making it a very stable structureeven when made from lightweight materials. Come to design andfabricate mini domes in the morning. Then after lunch, we dare you tobuild a super-structure big enough to fit inside! We will have all thesupplies and knowledge you will need, including a professional engineer,to assist you. Studentswill learn basics about bookbinding techniques to sew multiplesections of pages on the side with elegant stitching to create abeautiful and useful book. Pre-register by calling 402-441-8540.
