Abraham: Revealing the Historical Roots of

our FaithStephen Ray emphasizes that unless we understand the innate "Jewishness" of

Christianity and our Old Testament heritage, we will never fully understand our Faith, the Church, or even salvation itself. These are rooted not only in the early Church, but 2000 years before that, in Abraham. With his infectious enthusiasm, Stephen helps us to learn the deep truths of scripture that God taught through Abraham.

Parishioner CommentsIncredible presentation! Steve Ray has really helped me get interested in the Old Testament and excited about studying Sacred Scripture! - Evan, OKSteve Ray is wonderful. He has such great knowledge. He makes it easy to understand. When he is done, you just want to hear and learn more about our faith. - Irene, IL

CAPACITAR – Programa para mujeres. Próximas reuniones de 1-3 pm 2do y 4to sábado de cada mes. Más Información Nancy 330-322-4452.Dear St. Bernard Community,

Thank you again for your participation in the Annual Catholic Charities In-Pew Appeal held last weekend. It is estimated that over $4 million dollars is donated through the In-Pew Appeal alone. Our parish challenge this year is $47,633. There will be a second effort May 21 to appeal to those who were away last weekend or this winter.

Over these years with you we have made some physical improvements to the parish grounds. For many priests however, if not all, the more important improvement to a parish is the spiritual life of the people. We are a diverse Community (thus, catholic) but we are of the same common faith in Jesus Christ.

I am pleased to offer to everyone of you the opportunity to grow in our Catholic faith via the internet. Beginning ASH WEDNESDAY, March 1st, you will have access to the website: FORMED.org. On it you can view on your computer, iphone, or kindle: ebooks, spiritual programs, movies, and presentations by some of the most renown Catholic speakers of our day. You will have access on demand wherever you are whenever you want.

The pastoral council has viewed it and highly recommended FORMED for you. We will continue to provide the GROWING IN FAITH series you receive in the parish bulletin each month. And for those who do not use computer, iphone, ipad, or kindle - please check out the LIGHTHOUSE in the niche in the church proper. On the display

shelves you will find a smattering of the materials that are on FORMED.org.

Occasionally, we will recommend seeing or reading something on FORMED.org in preparation for a study group. We will use the website videos for parents having their child baptized or couples engaged to marry. We will also make it available for RCIA catechesis. But, most of all, it is yours at any time of the day or night wherever you are geographically or spiritually.

Also, this Lenten Season we will have two other opportunities: 1) the Wilderness Group will be seeking participants to offer again this Lent a daily fast for peace and justice in our world, and 2) inspired by Pope Francis' encyclical, Laudato, Si' : On Care for our Common Home, we will have weekly bulletin inserts for your reflection on our care for creation in relation to people in the world who are not as blessed as we with, for examples, clean water to drink, food to eat, energy resources, etc. One night a week, Deacon Ray DiMascio, will facilitate a discussion on these important resources. And with his presentation we would like to provide a soup supper if we can have two or three volunteers to warm up the soup. It is also an opportunity to follow up on the Zip Code gatherings held in spring, 2015. So, if you are wondering what to do different this Lent, consider giving yourself to some of these opportunities to strengthen our parish Community and our common Faith. Don't Give Up Something...Join Something!!

Please remember in your prayers those listed in our Book of Prayer Petitions at the Sacred Heart side altar. Your prayers are also appreciated for the sick of our Community, including the children in Akron Children's Hospital, who come under the care of Fr. Frank and me. Also, prayers for Fr.

Frank as he leaves for Florida with the Boy's Scouts, the parish staff, and a few others from our Community who are in the sunbelt these weeks. You are in my prayers and Pro Populo Mass offered for you

weekly. Please pray for me. Fr. Dan
