Lighthouse Ministry
November Newsletter
Dear Friends,
Thank you to the many who have
expressed their opinions and sugges-
ons in the last month regarding our
newsleer changes. We are excited to
know it is beer received and hope to
connue to improve its effecveness!
I came across some interesng
informaon recently while reading a
newsleer from the Chrisan Law As-
sociaon. It is no secret to most of us
that our public educaon system is in need of help. In the
last thirty years, the US educaon system has gone from be-
ing the worldwide leader in quality educaon, to being
ranked 36th at this me. In addion to the struggling aca-
demics, moral decline, and the common core disaster, not-so
-frequently-publicized is the teaching staff. In the US, there
are about 3.1 million full me teachers. Of those teachers,
14% resign by the end of their first year. One third, or 33%,
leave within the first three years, and nearly 50% have le
their jobs by their 5th year! Why has this most important
job of teaching the next generaon become something to
fear? What has changed in our naon’s students which has
yielded these results?
As I review history, and look for clues, it is clear that
things started changing drascally in the late 40’s,-1947 to
be exact. This is when the US Supreme Court changed its in-
terpretaon of the Establishment Clause of the First Amend-
ment to the United States Constuon. Since then, our foun-
daon has been shaken. Our measure to live has been un-
dermined, and everybody finds themselves guessing about
what is or is not acceptable. Can we sll pray in school? Is
the Bible permied in public schools? What are our rights?
The fear produced by this ruling has sent shockwaves
through our educaon system. Most conclude that these
acvies are banned, and we will get in trouble for such reli-
gious expressions. As a result, for most, their Chrisan voice
has been silenced. We have raised a godless generaon who
is now stepping up to lead.
I mean not to “beat a dead horse” as they say, or to
“preach to the choir,” but to expose that not only is this hap-
pening, it is happening due to ignorance, and is o>en propa-
gated by well meaning Chrisans. Just like the heads of our
religion department in Chrisan colleges across our naon
who proclaim science to support evoluon (while the science
departments factually support Creaon), I find Chrisans ad-
miBng defeat and proclaiming it on the roo>ops! Our stu-
dents CAN pray in school. They CAN read their Bible. They
CAN share their faith, wear Chrisan apparel, and incorpo-
rate their faith into their homework, artwork, and other
wrien and oral assignments. O>enmes teachers do not
clearly understand the rights of their students.
It is our job as Chrisans to stand for truth, even when it
is not popular. It is important that even though our public
schools no longer start their day with prayer, and Bible read-
ing, that we take advantage of such a freedom as we do here
at LCA! We can see the effects of removing these things in
the world around us, and that we share the Gospel with
those we come in contact. History books have been changed,
our neighbors no longer know that our country was founded
on the Bible, with the US Capitol building being used as a
church by more than 2,000 people for over 100 years. It is
our history, it is what made us great, and why we are here
today. If you want to “Make America Great Again,” don’t put
your faith in the next polician, but I challenge you to make
it priority that you start each day alone with God. The fruits
of this will be visible in your life. -Pastor Jacob Masemore

We were blessed to have the Lyons Fire Com-

We have a nice sized class this year for the
first me that we are offering sign language.
We are grateful to Diane Gi> for her willing-

Our first sandwich sale of the school year was
in October. Thank you to all who helped make
this sale a success! We sold 930 sandwiches, al-
most reaching our goal of 1,000! Up next is our
candle sale! Blue Mountain candles are an excel-
lent Christmas gi> and a great way to raise
funds! Please see the aached order form! Or-
ders are due December 1st.
Yearbook pictures will be taken on Thursday,
November 3rd. These are professionally taken

They will be ready in plenty of me for Christ-
mas. We also are willing to get sibling shots, etc
if you are desiring to purchase them. Cost of pur-
chase is $20 for 1 child. $30 for 2, $35 for 3, and
$40 for 4 or more.
Service Opportunity!!! The MOPS group at Grace E.C. in Kutztown, which
offers mothers of preschool and elementary a
place to gather, encourage and refresh is looking
for some high school age girls to help with the
childcare on the second Wednesday of each
month. This is completely voluntary, but if your
student is current on academic work, and willing
to serve in this capacity, it would be a blessing!.

Monthly Scripture
Genesis 2:16-25 16
And the LOPQ God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely
die. 18
And the LOPQ God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 19
And out of the ground the LOPQ God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see
what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20
And Adam gave names to all cale, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an
help meet for him. 21
And the LOPQ God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead
thereof; 22
And the rib, which the LOPQ God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

make these important decisions. Below, please find
some dates where you can learn more about each
