Life of a Growing Apple Tree
There was once a tiny seed all cosy in the dirt,So snuggly and warm hiding away it is his favourite place
on earth. So peaceful and quiet his life is, sleeping all day long, Waiting to grow so big and tall, this is where he
belongs.
Now he is starting to grow some green,I wonder what this could be….?
Is it the start of a new life?We will have to wait and see.
Finally out of the earth! He stretched, climbing towards the sky. Stretching so far up high, So happy he could almost cry.The lovely feeling of the fresh summer breeze felt too good to be true, So happy he was finally growing but what was
next he had no clue.
Bright green leaves was the next step and he couldn’t believe his eyes.So wonderfully big and shiny too, what a beautiful surprise.
Not one not two but three so far, I wonder could there be more?
So many leaves growing at once how many will grow he could never be sure. Thicker and thicker his branches grew he was
growing so mighty and strong, Spreading out to show the world what he has after waiting all year long.
Growing so tall and spreading wide he used to be small and it wasn’t a lie,
what would be the next step? Could he fly….?
Flowers bloom so pink and pretty,
All bunched together soft like a kitty.
With a beautiful smell and ever so soft,
All other plants got jealous and scoffed.
Now apples so juicy red and bright,
So delicious to eat when they are ripe.
So healthy and happy and this tree shows,
Can you think of something else that grows?
Why growing plants is good for Child development…
•It allows them to use their senses when observing plants, helping them identify various features of living things.
•Helps children to notice and discuss environmental patterns through close analysis and handling.
•Helps them understand and value food and natural habitats.
•Raises awareness of where food really comes from and how it isn’t as simple as being packaged in a supermarket store.
•Encourages children to explore the different reasons why these natural processes happen and how they work.
