Our Aussie Adventures
Book BagsPlease remember to check your child's book bag regularly for important notices.
Daily reading of take home books should be an easy, fun and positive experience. We encourage families to engage their children in discussions about the text,
including retelling events, discussing the beginning, middle and end and sharing opinions about the story. Comprehension is a BIG focus when it comes to reading.
Please ensure your child is changing their take home books every day.
Term 3 InquiryThis term through our Inquiry unit ‘Our Aussie Adventures’ 1/2 students will be given creative freedom to either design and build a landmark, write a travelling journal/postcard or construct an artefact influenced by our Australian culture etc.
NumeracyThis term we are focussing on Place Value, 3D Objects, Flip, Slide and Turn, Multiplication, Data collection and Graphing, Money, Mass, Addition and Subtraction and Area.
Literacy/WritingSome concepts we will be exploring this term include comprehension strategies such as visualising, decoding (eagle eye, chunky monkey, stretchy snake, skippy frog), summarising and synthesising. This term the focus for writing will be on procedures, recounts and poetry.
Classroom HelpersWe are lucky enough to have some wonderful parent helpers who come in regularly and assist in the classroom. If you have any spare time weekly, fortnightly or monthly and would be interested in helping, please see your child’s teacher. Please note: all parent helpers need a Working With Children Check and must sign in/out at the office at the beginning and end of each session.
WOW booksJust a reminder to please ensure WOW books (A3 black visual arts diary) are returned to your child’s class teacher/s, ready for some new achievements to be added into it.
ProductionProduction will now be held on Monday 16th August at 6pm. More information will follow, so please keep an eye out for it.To help ensure our students are as best prepared as they can be, we ask that any chance you get to practise/play the following songs for your child to sing/dance along to would be great J
