The candidate briefly described the figures in the table, and barely pointed out that the acceptance of

Japanese was the highest.

The candidate gave a superficial answer in Part (b). S/he made a limited attempt to relate language

ability with job qualifications and the second factor was not clearly described.

The answer of Part (c) was also superficial with limited coverage, indicating an inadequate

understanding of the related concepts, such as ethnic integration. S/he merely made an attempt to

describe briefly the existence of different ethnic groups in Hong Kong, failing to respond to the gist of

the question.

Limited reference was made to the sources in supporting the answers, reflecting elementary skills in data

interpretation.

The candidate was able to point out urban-rural disparity as the phenomenon shown in Source A.

S/he made a minimal data comparison between the bottom income group in rural areas and that in urban

areas.

S/he used Source C in a very limited manner.

S/he mentioned pollution as being a result of poverty reduction, but no elaboration was provided.

S/he pointed out both supporting and opposing arguments but the explanation lacked detail.

S/he did not provide adequate explanation of parts of the answer on reform and opening up in relation to

the question.

The answer reflected elementary skills in data interpretation by providing a brief comparison of each

pair of figures of the two places. However, some key features of the pattern in Graph B were neglected.

The candidate made use of some data in the sources but not comprehensively.

S/he only identified one dimension of quality of life but did not refer to the sources to explain why it

should be given priority.

S/he failed to focus on the measures, indicating an inadequate understanding of the demands of the

question.

S/he suggested one way and made an attempt to explain the need to improve the dimension of quality of

life, but the ideas were expressed vaguely.

The answer indicated a partial understanding of the question.

The candidate identified the environmental impacts of the manufacturing industry in general, but failed

to explain how the impacts were brought about by ‘fast fashion’ as a globalized industry.

S/he presented a vague stance and was not able to clearly articulate any justification. S/he attempted to

explain briefly why it is difficult for people to change their habits and related some features of ‘fast

fashion’ and unemployment to the difficulty/ possibility of resisting the culture of disposability.

However, the explanation was inadequate and the arguments were not well-reasoned, indicating a lack

of understanding of the relevant concepts (such as a globalized economy).

The candidate was able to name a few reasons and factors like the influence of the social media, parental

influence, misinformation, etc.

However the elaboration lacked depth and was largely descriptive, rather than showcasing an

understanding of the concepts being used.

The candidate merely explained how the reduction in harmful substances could help safeguard the

public health of young people, in support of the viewpoint that banning is not necessary. No attempt at

comparison with means other than banning the sale was made. Some of the discussion was not focussed

on young people, but society as a whole.

Another ‘way’, namely education, was suggested, but it was presented as a suggestion for the

government. Only one or two lines on the other ‘way’ showed an attempt at comparison.

The candidate made an attempt to answer the question.

S/he was able to describe the ways how people use the facilities in a modernised wet market.

However, the discussion on the impacts brought about by modernising a traditional wet market on the

quality of life of Hong Kong people was superficial, indicating an inadequate understanding of the

concept.

In Part (b), s/he roughly explained how shopping habits changed after the use of innovative technology

in wet markets.

The candidate tried to explain briefly the negative impact on ways of life, e.g. higher rent and higher

prices with the use of technology, but missing the point of the question, which is about traditional

culture.
