WARM UP:

AIM: to get students' attention

PROCEDURE: the teacher greets the students and asks them different questions such as: "How are you today?", "What day is today?"

LEAD IN:

AIM: to get the students ready for the lesson

PROCEDURE: the teacher checks the homework and then the teacher announces the topic of the lesson

INITIAL PRACTICE:

AIM: the students name the food

CLASS MANAGEMENT: individual work

TEACHING AID: pictures

PROCEDURE: the teacher shows the students some food pictures and asks them to name the things they see

SECONDARY PRACTICE:

ACTIVITY ONE :

AIM: the students should understand sentences with different kinds of food

CLASS MANAGEMENT: individual

TEACHING AID: textbook, blackboard

PROCEDURE: the teacher plays the tape, the students listen. It's a song about different kinds of food, after listening they have to read, translate and finally sing the song (exercise 1 page 70).

TIME: 3 min

ACTIVITY TWO:

AIM: the students must ask and answer about their favourite food

CLASS MANAGEMENT: pair work

TEACHING AID: textbook, blackboard

PROCEDURE: the teacher asks the students to role-play a short dialogue in pairs. One of them asks "What's your favourite food?", the other answers and asks "What about you?" (exercise 2 page 70)

TIME : 2 min

ACTIVITY THREE:

AIM: the students use the verb "to like" in sentences

CLASS MANAGEMENT: individual work

TEACHING AIDS: blackboard

PROCEDURE: the teacher writes "I like" on the blackboard and asks each student what they like - food, animals, toys, etc - and draws a word web. Then she writes "I like" again and writes some activities they like

SKILLS: reading, writing, speaking

TIME : 5 min

ACTIVITY FOUR:

AIM: the students use I like in sentences of their own

CLASS MANAGEMENT: individual work

TEACHING AIDS: hand-outs

PROCEDURE: The teacher gives the student some hand-outs and they have to choose a word from a list and write what they like

SKILLS: speaking, writing

TIME : 3 min

ACTIVITY FIVE:

AIM: the students speak about what they don't like

CLASS MANAGEMENT: class work

TEACHING AIDS: text book, blackboard

PROCEDURE: the teacher writes "I don't like" on the blackboard and asks each student what they don't like - food, animals, toys, etc - and draws a word web. Then she writes "I don't like" again and writes some activities they don't like

SKILLS: reading, speaking, listening.

TIME : 5 min

ACTIVITY SIX:

AIM: the students give short answers with "Yes, I do", "No, I don't"

CLASS MANAGEMENT: class work

TEACHING AIDS: pictures, blackboard

PROCEDURE: The teacher shows some photos and asks them if they like them or not. The students have to answer using "Yes, I do", "No, I don't". The teacher writes a model on the blackboard

SKILLS: speaking, listening.

TIME : 5 min

ACTIVITY SEVEN:

AIM: the students make up sentences with "like" and "don't like"

CLASS MANAGEMENT: class work

TEACHING AIDS: hand-outs

PROCEDURE: The teacher gives the student some hand-outs and they have to write sentences according to the model using LIKE for (smile) and DON'T LIKE for (sad face)

SKILLS: reading, speaking, listening.

TIME : 5 min

ACTIVITY EIGHT:

AIM: the students make up their own sentences using "like" and "don't like"

CLASS MANAGEMENT: class work

TEACHING AIDS: pictures

PROCEDURE: The teacher shows the student some pictures and they have to say what they like and what they don't like

SKILLS: speaking, listening.

TIME : 3 min

ACTIVITY NINE:

AIM: the students role play the lesson

CLASS MANAGEMENT: class work

TEACHING AIDS: cassette, textbook

PROCEDURE: The teacher asks the students to listen to the dialogues on the tape and then to role play the dialogues and translate them while the teacher writes the unknown words on the blackboard.

SKILLS: speaking, listening.

TIME : 7 min

EVALUATION:

- the teacher evaluates students' answers and draws conclusions

- the students listen to the teacher and ask questions if any

- TIME: 3 min

HOMEWORK:

the students must solve an exercise from the exercise book filling in with like or don't like

TIME. 2 min.
