Architecture and decorations :

The monument is surrounded by a great park.

A magnificent porch is decorated by floral pat-

terns which beautifully house the entrance.

Four white minarets majestically top this incre-

dible monument. Floral and geometrical pat-

terns decorate the wall and the ceiling. But we

can see splendid sculpted pillars too.

Slogan : The mausoleum of Akbar is the most specta

– cular, the greatest monument I have ever studied in

my entire life !!

Location : The mausoleum of Akbar is situated in the northern state of Uttar

Pradesh, 4 km north of Agra, on the road to Delhi in a city called

Sikandra.

History : It’s a mausoleum and it was built for

the emperor Akbar ( 1556-1605 ).

Akbar, according to the tradition,

began the construction of his tomb but

it’s Jahanjir, his son, who finished it in

1613. It was constructed from white

marble and red sandstones.

There are a lot of pilars, a high and magni-

ficient cupola, a spectacular and large

corridor, 4 big minarets and 8 splendid

towers. There is a beautiful garden.

The monument is decorated with geome-

trical patterns and splendid floral pat-

terns.

Umaid Bhawan is located in Jodhpur, in

Rajasthan, in northern India.

It was built on the Chittar Hill.

The construction took 15 years and more than 5000 men

History : The majestic emperor Shahajan moved the capital of India. He chose

It took 10 years to be completed.

Location : The Khajuraho Temple is in the Indian

state of Madhya Pradesh. It is located in

Chhatarpur district, 620 Km southeast of New

Delhi.

History :The kajuraho Temple is very famous for tourists.

The Temple is the one of the most popular tourist destinations in

India.

The construction of the different buildings lasted 100 years because

they are very high and large.

St Paul’s cathedral

Architecture and decorations :

St Paul’s cathedral is very large. The

great tower overhangs the monument.

The cathedral is surrounded by a lot

of small steeples. A porch houses a ma-

gnificent entrance. Tourists approach

this cathedral via a splendid garden.

A lot exceptionnal frescoes and stained

-glass windows decorate the interior of

the monument. The beautiful seats are

carved in wood.

Location : St Paul’s cathedral is in the eastern

state of West Bengal, in the city of Kolkatta.

and it ended in 1847. It took approximately 8 years to build it.

Bishop Daniel Wilson created this monument. An underground

bedroom houses the mausoleum of Bishop Daniel Wilson.

This monument is the most unusual and the most spectacular

temple I have ever imagined.

It’s the most colourful I have ever seen.

complex of buildings inside. It is

dedicated to the goddess

Mînakshî or Sundareshvara

(born with fish-shaped eyes and

a third breast), Shiva’s wife.

Every evening, the statue of the

goddess is brought to Shiva’s

sanctuary so that the deities can

sleep together. Once a year,

their wedding is celebrated.

geometrical patterns. They are traditionally

surrounded by magnificent sculpted pillars (made

in stones).

The basin is framed by a corridor and many

pillars. A splendid column and its base stand at

the centre of the basin.

The Jahangir Mahal.

Architecture and decorations : Tourists arrive in front of the Jahangir Mahal via an impressive garden, which is divided into two incredible parts. The monument is impressively topped by two great pavilions ; a beautiful porch majesticaly stands above the entry. The palace is magnificently decorated by animal and floral patterns which are painted in warm co-lours.

Slogan : The Jahangir Mahal is the most visited palace in Orchhâ.

Location : The Jahangir Mahal is situated in the southern state of Uttar Pradesh, in the city of Orchhâ.

History : The Jahangir Mahal was built to receive the emperor Jehangir during his trips but he stayed there one night. It was built in 1626 by Vir Singh Deo.

Architecture and decorations : Tourists can enter the majestic monument by three spec-

tacular gates with a lot of geometrical patterns. Inside , a

long corridor with many pillars surrounds a great cour-

tyard. The fort was built with red sandstone , from the

North of India. Around the fort , the walls are 2.5 killo-

meters long. We can see The Taj Mahal form the fort. Ma-

ny towers top the monument.

The monument was finaly finished in 1573. The fort was

built by Emperor Akban. This fort became a world

UNESCO heritage site in 1983.

Jaisalmer Fort is traditionnaly surrounded by plenty of

beautiful sandstone yellow towers decorated with magnifi-

cient brown geometrical patterns.

During the day,the walls of the fort change colours.

And the entrance becomes yellow in the morning, orange in

the afternoon and brown at night.

Many superb pavillions exceptinaly top the towers .

Under the Fort, thereis a large terrace where there are a

lot of traditional Indian houses.

Many stairs lead to the top of this incredible Fort.

Tourists can admire beautiful statues of gods, goddesses and

sacred animals and there are divers gods sculpted in pillars.

Location : Jaisalmer is a splendid fort in the North-West of India

in the western state of Rajasthan, in Jaislmer. It majesticaly stands in

the middle of incredible Thar desert on the impressive Triruta Hill.

History :Jaisalmer Fort was built in 1156 and was finished in 1162. It took approximately 7 years to buid it.

It was built for the Roy Rajpout Jaisala.

This fort was built entirely in yellow sandstone.

It was part of many battles essentialy with the Mughals, and it’s one last princely bastion in

this country.

It stands 30 m above the city.

There are big walls to protect the fort from invasions.

Jaislmer Fort is one of the oldest and one of the biggest Fort in the world.

Architecture and decorations : The tomb is surroun-

ded by a giant lake.

This monument is covered with plenty of cupolas and

balustrades and there is even a staircase that goes

into this impressive lake.

But in the midlle of these wonderful cupolas there is

one giant cupola that makes the temple look even bet-

ter.

Inside there are lots of nice patterns like animal and

tree patterns

Location : Ser Shah Suri’s tomb is located in the north east of India in Bihar

in Sasaram.

History :Ser Shah Suri’s tomb was built between 1540 and 1545 and

was designed by Aliwal Khan .It became a world UNESCO heritage in

1993.

Many Tourits approach the beautiful

monument via a walkway. The Jai Prakash

Yantra is formed by two magnificent hollow

hemispheres which are 8.25m wide. It was

constructed entirely from marble and sand.

With some circles drawn on the monument,

we can follow the route of the sun on the zo-

diac and work out the incredible height and

the position of planets. A little piece of metal

is hung in the middle of the mesmerizing he-

misphere by two cables.

The shadow of the piece shows the position of

the sun. There are some corridors between

two stunning blocks of marble and resear-

chers can read the datas and the results.

north-west of India, in the splendid city of New Delhi.

century. It was a set of twenty fixed monuments, as the Jai Prakash

Yantra.

Sort of monument:

This is a great astronomical observatory. Many

tourists can visit exeptionally varied monuments.

The Jantar Mantar was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II.

Many tourists approach the monument via a great walkway. The ma-

gnificently colorful garden is divided into a lot of parts. It splendidly rests

on an incredible platform. Breathtaking stairs lead to the impressive terra-

ce. A magnificent cupola tops two towers. The towers are surrounded by a

terrace. The stunnig monument includes a mesmerizing garden, the great

mausoleum and other little tombs.

The mausoleum is made up from bricks, marble and standstone. The colorful

walls are painted in red and yellow. Impressive geometricals patterns are

carved in the great walls. The incredible windows are made up from iron

with floral patterns. In the beautiful monument where the tomb is the

ground is decorated with white and black geometrical patterns.

resque statues of horses wich lead to the se-

cond part.

The great Stupa is a majestic dome made of stones.

It is surrounded by a terrace and tourists approach the ma-

gnificent monument which is surronded by an unusual wall via

a long walkway.

A fantastic and romantic arch which is decorated with beauti-

ful animals patterns stands in front of all the entrances of the

building.

And a little steeple tops the monument.

Location : Sanchi is a small village in India, situated in the North East of Bhopal in Madya

Pradesh. The stupa is built at the top of a hill, Its numerous stones house a statue of Bouddha. It

is a Bouddist and Jaïn temple.

History : After the death of Bouddha, his relics were separed in eight parts. These parts were given to the

kings who were here.

They were put in first stupas. But all stupas have relics: they are classified in 3 parts:

-The Datu-chaitya; which houses relics.

-The Paribhoga-chaitya; which houses objects of Bouddha.

-The Darma-chaitya ; which exhibits the buddhist religion.

The numerous tourists approach the fascinating mo-

nument via a long walkway made of marble.

The Golden Temple is a splendid monument made in

gold and copper. The top part of the building was

constructed entirely in gold.

Four magnificent entrances are on each side of the

temple. The beautiful monument rests on the greatest

platform and a balustrade surrounds the terrace.

One big cuplola rests on the roof and four small

cupolas surround this one.

This is a beautiful temple, it’s decorated with floral

patterns and exeptional calligraphy.

The top of the

Mahabodhi temple

History :

This is the oldest monument made enti-

rely of bricks. It was built in the V th

century, during the reign of Guptas.

Tourists approach the temple via a ma-

gnificent way. The monument splendidly

rests on a platform and it stands on an

incredible terrace. At the top of the Maha-

bodhi temple, there is a breath-taking pavil-

impressive pavilion stands on the

top of the minaret. In the Qutub

Minar the steps leads to the

pavilion. It was built entirely in

stones. In the Qutub Minar, there

are geometrical patterns and cal-

ligraphy. A spectacular cathedral

stands next to the Qutub Minar. A

beautiful garden leads to the Qutub

Minar.

History : The construction of the monument began in 1192. It

took approximatively 172 years to build it. The monument

was finally finished in 1364.

Sort of monument : It’s an incredible

minaret and an ancien city. It’s a complex of

buildings.

Many tourists approach the majestic monu-

ment via a colourful garden which is divided

into two parts. The enthralling Taj Mahal

rests on a great platform and is surrouned by a

splendid terrace. The base is surrounded by a

impressive ballustrade. A porch houses the en-

trance. An arch tops the high gate. This big

tomb is framed by four minarets which are

topped by mesmerizing pavilions. Four other

pavilions rest on the roof of the building and

frame the cupola which tops the monument.

History :

The Taj Mahal was constructed entirely from white marble which was brought

from Makrana in Rajasthan. The construction of the monument began in 1633 and

ended in 1653. It took approximatly 20 years to build it . For the construction

20,000 people built the Taj Mahal and 1,000 elephants helped them.

The Taj Mahal was recognized

by the UNESCO as a world site

heritage.

Sort of monument : It is a mausoleum and it was built for the wife of the emperor when she died and because the emperor was very sad.
