DESCRIERE
Proiectul este centrat pe elevii din fiecare
şcoală parteneră, care explorează „marele
necunoscut”, încurajându-i să fie mai activi şi, în
acelaşi timp, antrenându-i într-un dialog

ROMANIAN WATER LEGEND THE LEGEND OF THE BLACK SEA
Legenda Mării Negre
Legendele apei 2010-2012
dăruit două scoici magice în care puteau să-i vadă
pe cei iubiți. Dar mai întâi le atenționă:
,,Dragostea între sirene și oameni aduce numai
necazuri. Mama voastră era om și și-a găsit sfârșitul
fiind blestemată de prietenii săi.” După spusele
acestea, bătrânul și-a închis ochii și a murit.
A long time ago, when the kingdom of water
was inhabited by mermaids, there lived a king who
had two princes: Tomis and Gibraltar. The king
hated mermaids and so he sent his sons with two
ships to look for them and kill them. Just before
they went their separate ways, one towards east and
one towards west, they saw two mermaids playing.
Their names were Neagra (“negru” in Romanian
means “black”) and Mediterranean.
The mermaids had already seen them, and
they had also seen the nets and the harpoons, so
they decided to use their powers to raise huge
waves and disappear in the depth of the waters.
When the mermaids returned to their father,
they told him what had happened and he decided
that in order to protect his daughters the best thing
to do was to leave to other places.
Meanwhile, the princes continued their
journeys, Tomis going to the east and Gibraltar to
the west, looking for the beautiful mermaids.
After a while, the mermaids‟ father got ill
and he wanted to help them before he died.
Knowing that his daughters had fallen in love with
the two princes, he gave them two magic shells in
which they could see their beloved. But first he
warned them:
“The love between mermaids and humans brings
only trouble. Your mother was a human and she
found her end being cursed by her people.” After
saying that, the old man closed his eyes and died.

furtuni.
After their father died, the mermaids decided
to find the princes they loved. They used the magic
shells which showed them that Neagra should go
east and Mediterranean should go west.
When she arrived near Tomis‟ ship, Neagra
got into his dreams through a spell and Tomis fell in
love with her.
Then, each night, they spent their time
together, sharing stories about the deep world of the
seas and the humans‟ world.
One day, during a big storm, Neagra wanted
to make sure Tomis was all right and came too close
to the ship. A sailor saw her and threw a harpoon
into her heart. With her last powers Neagra started
to sing a song Tomis liked very much. Hearing the
song Tomis plunged into the waves to help her but
they both disappeared into the dark waters. Since
then that sea was named Marea Neagra (The Black
Sea), after the mermaid‟s name.
When storms start on the Black Sea, sailors
say that the prince is looking for his beautiful
mermaid, and when the sea is calm they say the
prince is listening to the wonderful songs of the
mermaid.
Gibraltar had the same fate: he ended beside
the beautiful Mediterranean, crushed by the rocks of
a straight during a storm.

Legendele apei 2010-2012
cum era posibil, observându-i în secret întruchipat
Insula a
Ea a născut
rănească fiinţele ce-i înconjurau. Si aşa au facut
Once upon a time, there was a small, isolated, rocky
island in the sea, the kingdom of Poseidon, the
ancient God of all seas. On that island lived only a
couple with their daughter Kleito. Even though they
worked very hard they were very happy. Poseidon
not able to understand how that was possible,
observed them secretly as a human. He watched
Kleito everyday and fell in love with her and finally
he appeared to her to ask her to marry him.
She accepted and on the wedding day he
couldn‟t hide his real identity as God any more
since all the creatures came to honor him during the
ceremony. As a gift to his wife he promised to make
the island beautiful like his queen. So he did. The
island became green, fertile, filled with animals and
plants and more and more people came to live on
this paradise. They even built a palace dedicated to
Poseidon and Kleito. Kleito gave birth to 10
children which later lived also on this island. The
island was named “Atlantida” after their first son
Atlantas. Poseidon‟s greatest wish was for everyone
on the island to live in peace and happiness;
therefore he gave them laws they had to follow, or
else he would put a curse on them. The most
important was that they had to respect life in every
form and not to harm another being. And so they

his kingdom under seas.
After many many years he emerged again to
see how his sons were doing. He cried with
disappointment when he saw his island abandoned
and the people fighting. He was so angry that he
raised his trident and caused a stir. The huge wave
came over the island and it sank into the deep sea.
The people still lived under the water but they never
talked or fought again. In time they transformed

The Fairy Bride
Zâna mireasă
Legendele apei 2010-2012
faci o prăjitură perfectă, i-a spus.
Oare
aceasta este perfectă? Sau Aurwen va dispărea
înapoi în ceaţă, în lumea ei? Zâmbind, Aurwen s-a
Ceea ce Aurwen nu-i
A long, long time ago – in fact about 4,000 years
ago, a shepherd called Rhodri lived near a beautiful
lake in Wales. One day as he was tending his sheep
he came to a mysterious lake named Llyn y
DyWarchen (Turf Island in Welsh). Swirling just
above the lake was a wispy, silvery mist. As Rhodri
stared at the mist circling around suddenly, from out
of the lake and through the mist, appeared a
beautiful lady.
However, she wasn‟t any ordinary lady. She was a
fairy! Her name was Aurwen. Well, as soon as
Rhodri and Aurwen set eyes on each other they
immediately fell in love. But Aurwen wanted to
test Rhodri‟s love.
“If you wish to marry me, then you must bake me a
perfect cake,” she told him. “But you only have
three chances.”
“For you I would do anything,” Rhodri replied, as
he hurried off to do as she asked.
The next day he returned to the lake with his first
cake, but sadly it was too dry. Unfortunately the
second cake was too wet. At his last attempt,
Rhodri held his breath as Aurwen and her father
tasted the cake. Would this one be perfect? Or
would Aurwen disappear back through the mist to
her own world?
Smiling, Aurwen turned to Rhodri and pronounced
the cake „perfect!‟ Very soon they got married and
had children and lived a happy life.
Everything was wonderful until one afternoon when
they were returning from market. Aurwen‟s horse
had sprained its ankle so she had to jump onto
Rhodri‟s horse to ride with him. What Aurwen had
not told him was that all fairies have something they
must avoid if they are to stay in the mortal world.
For Aurwen it was iron. If she touched iron, she
would vanish!
As Rhodri pulled Aurwen towards him to sit in
front of him on her horse, the horse stumbled, and
Aurwen‟s knee touched the iron stirrup. Right
before his eyes, she just vanished into a wisp of
mist and was gone.
Rhodri and his children returned many times to
Lake Llyn y Dywarchen but the magical silvery
mist never appeared again and Aurwen could never
return from the fairy realm.

THE APPEARANCE OF WATER
APARIŢIA APEI
Legendele apei 2010-2012
Astfel, ea a îngheţat toate
Once upon a time there were two fairies: one was
the Heat Fairy and the other was the Cold Fairy.
They lived on opposite sides of the world.
The Heat Fairy lived at the Equator whereas the
Cold Fairy lived at the North Pole. Neither of them
knew about the other.
The Cold Fairy was wicked and bad-tempered.
Since she could not stand the whole world, she
decided to play a nasty trick on it. She froze all the
lands and all the waters, so little by little the living
creatures did not find any food and started to die.
The Heat Fairy tried to do something about the
serious situation: she begged the Sun never to set.
Consequently, the bright warm sunbeams melted
the ice and the snow little by little, so the water
filled the seas and oceans again, and all the water
creatures reappeared.
The jellyfish and the seahorses went around the
oceans happily arm in arm, the dolphins could play
hide and seek with the clownfish again, and the
sharks cheerfully chased the swordfish.
The Cold Fairy melted as well and so all the
creatures lived happily ever after.

“The Golden Duck”
Rața de aur
Legendele apei 2010-2012
Acum mult timp era o văduvă ce avea doi
fii. Ei se numeau Kuba şi Marcin. Ei făceau coşuri
şi flauturi de vânzare. Într-o zi Marcin a făcut un
flaut special.
grav.
Când a
baiatul i-a dat-o.
Atunci când s-a întâlnit cu fratele său nu a vrut să-i
dea niciun ban.
Baiatul
a închis raţa în roaba goală, a luat câţiva bani,
flautul şi s-a întors la mama lui.
Long time ago there was a widow. She had two
sons: Kuba and Marcin. They made baskets and
flutes for sale. One day Marcin made a special flute.
It was a magic flute, so he kept it.
A few days later their mother got very ill. Marcin
was very sad and his flute sang a song about a
golden duck and a treasure in a lake. Marcin wanted
to go for the treasure but his brother Kuba didn‟t let
him go.
However Kuba went for the treasure himself. When
he entered the cave he saw the golden lake and the
duck with the golden crown. He saw also two devils
with a barrow. It was full of people‟s tears. They
poured the tears into the lake. Kuba asked the duck
for some gold for his family. The duck wanted his
heart instead and Kuba gave his heart to the duck.
When he became rich he forgot about his family.
When he met his Brother Marcin he didn‟t give him
any money. He was cruel because he didn‟t have a
heart. Marcin started to cry. The devils were happy
because they had more tears for the duck‟s lake.
Marcin decided that he won‟t cry and he won‟t give
the duck his tears.
When he went to the duck he gave her his magic
flute. The duck gave him food instead. Marcin
salted the food and shared with the devils. It was so
salty that the devils drank all water from the lake.
Marcin closed the duck inside the empty barrow,
took some money, his flute and went back to his
mother.

SPANISH WATER LEGEND
THE LAGOON OF THE MARES
Legenda Lagunei Iepelor
Legendele apei 2010-2012
El
peisajului.
High in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada, there is
a lagoon with cold, clean water. The legend tells
that one day, at dusk, a shepherd was taking care of
his flock of sheep near the lagoon when he heard
loud voices. Very frightened, he hid behind some
rocks while he peeked out to see what was
happening.
Two tall men with long white hair and beards were
standing just at the shores of the water. They wore
long tunics.
They made strange gestures and chanted magic
words, then, they cast an enormous net into the
lagoon. When they pulled out the net, they saw they
had captured a beautiful white mare.
“This is not what we are looking for,” said one of
the magicians.
They set it free and recast the net, and this time
emerged a blue mare.
“This is not what we were looking for, either,” the
magician said.
They determined that they would try one last time.
The magician recast the net, taking care to say the
magic words properly.
But the only result was yet another mare, jet-black
in color. They were very disappointed.
“We haven‟t been lucky,” one of the magicians
noted. “We have not found the red horse that would
give us eternal life. We‟ll have to come back and try
again during the next thaw.”
The shepherd saw the two men go away. He
watched the three mares frolicking and nuzzling
each other peacefully in the meadow.
Suddenly, he heard a piercing whistle. The mares
remained unperturbed, until, all at once, they
galloped toward the lagoon and submerged
themselves with a great splash.
Ever since, the lagoon has been called “The lagoon
of the Mares.”
Many people visit the lagoon to see the site of the
legend and enjoy the beauty of the landscape.

TURKEY WATER LEGEND
MAIDEN’S TOWER
Turnul Fecioarei
Legendele apei 2010-2012
Acum mult timp, trăia un Sultan care-şi
iubea fiica foarte mult.
exact cum a prezis oracolul. De aceea, turnul a fost
numit „Turnul fecioarei”.
Once upon a time there lived a Sultan who loved
her daughter very much. She was a very beautiful
girl with gorgeous blue eyes. One day an oracle
predicted that his beloved daughter would be bitten
by a poisonous snake and die on her 18th birthday.
The Sultan was so scared that he continually
thought day and night how to protect her daughter
from the attack of a snake. One day he decided to
build a tower in the middle of Bosphorus to keep
her away from the land until her 18th birthday.
So the princess was placed in the tower, where she
was frequently visited only by her father.
The princess was so alone and desperate . She
knew she had no chance but to obey her father‟s
rules. The days passed and on her 18th birthday
the princess‟ father visited her to give a birthday
present: It is a basket full of exotic fruits grown
rarely in the country.
The Sultan was very glad that he was able to
prevent her daughter .
While she was eating these delicious fruits, a
snake that had been hiding among the fruit bit the
young princess and she died in her father‟s arms,
just as the oracle had predicted. Hence the tower
was called „Maiden‟s Tower „

HUNGARY WATER LEGEND
Gyoparka Fairy By Bela Karoly Fulop
Zâna lacului Gyoparos
Legendele apei 2010-2012
preferată a regelui.
Pământului a găsit tratamentul vindecător. I-a dat
bătrânul rege s-a vindecat rapid. Acesta le era foarte
recunoscător fetelor sale. Fetele i-au spus că trebuie
să-i mulţumească Florii de colţ pentru că aceasta i-a
adus leacul vindecător. Lacul miraculos s-a
transformat în Lacul Zânelor. Este Lacul Florii de
colţ.
Lacul este cunoscut în zilele noastre sub
numele Gyoparos.

One day, evil powers destroyed water and the old

him but unfortunately, they couldn‟t help. They did
their best but the king didn‟t get better.
The three girls set off to find the cure for their
father. Sunbeam went to see the King of the Sun but
she couldn‟t get the cure because he didn‟t have
power for the Earth. Moonbeam asked for help the
Moon but he couldn‟t help her.
The youngest and most beloved daughter,
Edelweiss went to see Earthgammer. Edelweiss
complained to her that they couldn‟t find any cure
for their father.
Luckily, Earthgammer has found the cure. She gave
a bundle to Edelweiss with a remedial stone, a
rhinestone and lots of other things.
The girls went home and sprinkled the stones into
the lake.
Eventually, the water of the lake has become
smooth and the old king recovered quickly. He was
very grateful for his daughters. The girls said he
shoul be thankful to Edelweiss as it was her who
brought the cure. The miracle lake has turned into a
Fairy Lake. It is the lake of Edelweiss. It is called
Lake Gyoparos nowadays.
If you walk there you can see the lakeof the fairy
called Edelweiss. Please, take care of the lake and
the woods and bushes around it. A fairy can come
back again one day as fairies are deathless. You
need to rely on it and trust it.

Proiectul “What’s outside your window?” desfăşurat în Şcoala
vreme, plante, animale, păsări și mediul înconjurător, am reuşit să-i
