The Gap SHS will be a place:
Where thinking minds discover possibilities, push
boundaries and take charge of their learning
Every student, every day, has the opportunity to feel a
sense of belonging in our community (teamwork, loyalty,
leadership) and is able to engage in learning that sparks
their engagement and curiosity, joy and passions.

We will achieve this by:
Implementing our school based, high quality teaching and learning framework, “Teaching for Innovative Learning & Engagement” that
supports thinking and self-regulation.
Systematically delivering the 7-12 Australian curriculum with fidelity.
Creating time for staff to have intentional collaboration about their pedagogy in order to improve every students learning engagement and

The Arts features the two strands of making and responding:
– making includes learning about and using knowledge, skills, techniques, processes, materials and technologies to explore arts practices and make artworks that communicate ideas and intentions.
– responding includes exploring, responding to, analysing and interpreting artworks.
In the Year 7/8 Band of the Australian Curriculum we study one
subject per semester over the two year band; this means students
will rotate through the four Arts Electives from the start of Year 7 to
the end of Year 8.
• The Arts is a learning area that draws together related but distinct art forms.
• Each area involves different approaches to arts practices and critical and creative thinking that reflect distinct bodies of knowledge, understanding and skills.
• The Curriculum examines past, current and emerging arts practices in each art form across a range of cultures and places
