School Hours: 9:05 a.m. - 3:40 p.m.
Early Release Days: 9:05 a.m. - 2:40 p.m.
Greetings Families,
This month we will be starting “Jump rope for Heart” on Monday, February 1, 2016 - Monday, February 29, 2016. This program allows students to jump rope and exercise and raise money for the American Heart Association at the same time. Information will be sent home regarding this activity.
This is just another reminder that if your child is vomiting at school, that they must be out for 24 hours from the time they stop vomiting. You should also call the office if they are out sick.
Lear North’s character committee will focus on the character trait Friendship for the month of February. Students will earn pink bracelets for showing this trait. Be sure to ask your child if they have earned a bracelet for showing Friendship.

I hope everyone is doing well and had a great start to 2016. I want to thank all the volunteers that helped the teachers coordinate pizza box decorations for our first Marcos Pizza Box night. It was a huge success and your support by ordering is very much appreciated!
We had two more dollar days in January and have raised close to $1,300 so far for new iPADS for the students. The PTA and staff really appreciate your continued participation and the students really have a great time with these special days.
On January 26th the PTA welcomed two speakers from Kenneth A. DeLuca and Associates and a representative from Connecting for Kids to discuss “Strategies to help anxious preschool and elementary-aged children.” They provided great information to all in attendance and we were very thankful for the opportunity to get advice and tips on a topic affecting so many of our kids.
Last week we hosted a very successful Valentine’s Day Celebration for Lear students and their families. Thank you to everyone that helped make this event possible. The kids all seemed to have a great time and we were so happy to be able to offer this free event to our families.
In the month ahead we will be starting our Malleys spring fundraiser. Look for information coming home mid-February. We will also begin planning the Lear North talent show which will take place on Friday March 11th. The students are looking forward to showcasing their skills and watching their classmates on stage!
Thank you again for your continued support of the PTA!

COMMITTEE NEWSBox TopsRenee DornanWelcome back from Winter Break Lear North Families! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. We received our Box Tops check for the first half of the year. Thanks to all the clipping and submitting of Box Tops, we received a check for $962.70 for our school! This is awesome! Thank you so much for all your clipping.
We also received a Box Tops donation from Margaret Schulz. She works at the North Ridgeville VFW and collects the box tops and wanted to donate them to Lear North. We so appreciate it! Thank you so much! Our contest for February will be a popcorn and movie afternoon. Which ever class submits the most Box Tops for the month will win the party – and January and February will be joined since we didn’t have a contest for January.

NRCS believes that no student should go hungry. If a student does not bring a lunch and has no money associated on the student account, that student is permitted to ‘charge’ a lunch for a maximum of two times. If a student fails to pay the balance accrued of the two charges NRCS Food Service will provide an alternative lunch. The alternative lunch will consist of either a cheese or a peanut butter sandwich in addition to other items that make it a complete lunch (beverage, fruit).
Prior to the student having a charge occur, parents are strongly encouraged to place an account balance alert using the online system. Once a child’s account falls below $10.00 an automatic email will be sent to the address associated with the account. For more instructions on utilizing the PayForIt.net system, please visit nrcs.k12.oh.us and navigate to the links under the PARENT drop down toolbar.
