Indonesia a Southeast Asian nation madeup of thousands of volcanic islands is hometo hundreds of ethnic groups speakingmany different languages. On the island ofJava lies Indonesia’s vibrant sprawlingcapital Jakarta and the city of Yogyakartaknown for gamelan music and traditionalpuppetry.

PALEMBANG

Palembang capital of Indonesia’s SouthSumatra province is a port city on the MusiRiver. The river scene of floating market islined houses on stilts and spanned by theAmpera Bridge. At the bridge’s northernend stands the palatial Museum SultanMahmud Badaruddin II exploring regionalhistory. The archaeological site and sacredhill of Bukit Siguntang overlooks the city.

KUTO BESAK FORT

Kuto Besak Fort also strengthened with bastions in everycorner. Bastion in west side is bigger and same as anotherfortress in Indonesia, while other bastions have uniquearchitecture and impossible to find in other places.

MONPERA

Monpera (People’s Struggle Monument) is locatedbetween the great mosque of Palembang with the AmperaBridge and the Museum of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II.

TOURISM PLACE in Palembang

AMPERA BRIDGEAmpera Bridge is a Vertical-lift bridge in the city ofPalembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia, which is thelandmark of the city. It connects Seberang Ulu andSeberang Ilir, Two regions of Palembang. It can nolonger be opened to allow ships to pass.

KAMBANG IWAK

Kambang Iwak is one of the Dutch heritages located notfar from the center of Palembang city. During the Dutchcolonial era, the park was built as a recreactional placefor the Dutch’s citizens who lived around the park.

KEMARO ISLAND

Kemaro Island is one of most popular destinationsin South Sumatera. This island is located in a smalldelta of Musi River, about 6km downstream of AmperaBridge.

SIGUNTANG HILL

Seguntang Hill is the highest point in Palembang city.The complex is a hill with garden and large trees. Onhigher grounds within the complex there are sometombs linked by locals to the figures of Malay-Sriwijayan royalties and heroes.

SENAI CAPE

Only about 5 kilometers from the city center Indralaya,create attraction, dubbed “The charm of Senai Cape” thatcan be accessed by a wide variety of vehicles. It is morebeautiful when seen in the late afternoon.

H. BAJUMI WAHAB MOSQUE

H. Bajumi Wahab Mosque has built since the last threeyears in the village of Tanjung Sejaro district ofIndralaya, precisely at KM 38 Jalintim. It is the grandestmosques in Ogan ilir (OI).

LEAD School is a Leadership DevelopmentProject held by AIESEC Indonesia as a NationalProject hosted by several LCs across thecountry. This project aims to enrich theperspective of leadership among local youth ona general perspective as well as provide avenuesfor local youth to discover the right kind ofleadership needed by Indonesia and their city.We believe that Indonesia can be a home totrustworthy leaders that lead positive changesin their immediate society and all together builda community of trust and collaboration becausewe build the character and values ofIndonesians at an early stage.

Currently, there seems to be agap in the image/ perspective ofleadership in University vs. SMA.In high schools, assigning classleaders are taken for granted---bullied students, the bully, or justsomebody pushed by the entireclass because nobody wants totake responsibility. This sectionof the Leadership Caravan aimsto change the perspective ofYouth Leadership at a nearlystage.

ENGLISH CLASS & CULTURE SHARING

Communication is key! We wantto give privileges to studentleaders to boost their skills incommunication, not only throughlearning English but having anactual conversation withexchange participants onrelevant topics like culture,countries, and of courseleadership.
