[1] LAHAINA BAPTIST CHURCH November 2012 PASTOR CHRIS’ CORNER Aloha kakou, Christmas time is here and the worship center is once again filled with the reminders of Christmas. As we celebrate the hanging of the greens, I pray that your Christmas season will be filled with the thoughts of our Savior, Jesus Christ and His miraculous birth for our salvation. We were blessed to have a wonderful Thanksgiving with the kalua turkeys and the time of fellowship in loading the imu. Mahalo to all of you that worked to make this fund-raiser a success as the proceeds go toward our student scholarship fund. As we near the end of 2012 and prepare for the New Year, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit would strengthen our hearts to be more and more dedicated to His will and way in our lives. Our community is open for us to make disciples for Christ, but we must be intentional in our approach – willing to engage the topics of salvation through Jesus Christ and the transformed life of a disciple of Christ and the idea of sharing our lives with others to help them grow in Him. Mele Kalikimaka to you all and have a blessed holiday season! Mahalo again for the wonderful privilege that you have given me to be your pastor. I pray for God’s continued blessings on us all, as we grow closer to Him. Until next month, Aloha in Christ, Pastor Chris

LAHAINA BAPTIST CHURCHNovember 2012

PASTOR CHRIS’ CORNERAloha kakou,

Christmas time is here and the worship center is once again filled with the reminders of Christmas.

Our community is open for us to make disciples for Christ, but we must be intentional in our approach – willing to engage the topics of salvation through Jesus Christ and the

transformed life of a disciple of Christ and the idea of sharing our lives with others to help them grow in Him.

Mele Kalikimaka to you all and have a blessed holiday season!

Mahalo again for the wonderful privilege that you have given me to be your pastor. I pray for God’s continued blessings on us all, as we grow closer to Him.

Until next month,Aloha in Christ, Pastor Chris

What’s  in  a  Name?

Throughout  the  Bible,  when  people  spoke  of  God,  their  names  for  Him  reflected  something  about  His  character.    When  God  spoke  of  Himself,  His  name  reflected  Who  He  is.    God  told  Moses  to  tell  the  Israelites  that  He  was  Yahweh,  “I  AM  WHO  I  AM.”    David  knew  God  as  a  Father,  whose  love  is  constant,  all  encompassing,  compassionate,  forgiving,  and  eager  to  bless  those  who  revere  and  obey  Him.  To  Jeremiah,  God  called  Himself  Righteousness.    To  Isaiah,  God  called  Himself  Immanuel  -‐  God  with  us.  Jesus  called  Himself  the  good  Shepherd.

All  of  these  names  reflect  the  character  of  God.    These  names  also  reflect  how  we  are  able  to  relate  to  God  through  His  name.  We  have  access  to  Yahweh,  a  Heavenly  Father,  Righteousness,  Immanuel,  and  the  good  Shepherd  through  the  His  giM  of  Jesus  Christ.    What  an  incredibly  wonderful  thing!

Join  us,  every  Sunday  at  9  in  December,  as  we  study  the  names  of  God.  Discover  anew  or  for  the  first  Rme,  how  God’s  names  are  a  reflecRon  of  Who  He  is  and  His  great  love  for  us.

Scripture  for  December:

Exodus 15:11 New International Version (NIV)Who among the gods is like you, LORD?Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?

My,  my  how  Rme  flies  by  when  your  having  fun.  It  seems  to  me  that  Rme  is  moving  faster  than  ever,  even  though  we  know  that  is  not  possible.  There  could  be  several  factors  in  life  that  causes  him/her  to  focus  or  concentrate  on  the  past,  our  faults,  failures,  our  hurts  and  habits.  We  have  so  much  to  be  Thankful  for,  we  need  to  focus  not  so  much  on  what  has  happened  but  rather  on    what  is  happening  during  this  Rme.

For   instance   we   had   a  phenomenal   See   You   at   The   Pole  Rally  at  the  Lahaina  Outdoor  Theatre  followed  up  with  a  great   turnout  of  prayer-‐warriors   at   nearly   all  of   the  schools   on   the   West   Side.     Our  schools   have   had   so   much   to   be  Thankful  and  proud  of.   Just   recently  our  High  School  Luna  Football  team  put   together   an   amazing   year   of  g r e a t   f o o t b a l l   a n d   g r e a t  sportsmanship.   Many   Rmes   they  were  outnumbered  and   undersized.  But  together  “with  God  all  Things  are  Possible.”

The  students  not  only  worked  hard   at   making   their   personal   lives  more  affecRve  and  meaningful  out  in

the   public   eye,   but   changes   have  been  made  in  the  youth  department  as  well.   The  youth  conRnue  to  grow  and  thrive  in  the  Church  and  Sunday  School  as  well.  The  Youth  Leadership  team   consistently   shares   with   the  group,  “That  GOD  has  a  plan  for  their  lives”   and   “All   things  are  possible.”  We   share   with   the   youth   to  Remember   GOD   comes   1st   and   all  other  things  should  come  aMer  that.  He   is  in  fact   a  jealous  God,   but   has  HIS  best  at  Heart  for  us.

A   quote   we   will   frequently   use   is    “When  you  can’t   see  God’s  Hand  at  Work,  Trust  in  His  Heart.”

We  truly  have  had  many  things  to  be  thankful  for;  but  the  one  thing  that   I  am   most   Thankful   for   is   that   GOD  has  given  me  children  that  I  can  love,  hold,   and   take   care   of.   When   God  puts  one  of  His  children  in  your  care  He  must  truly  believe  in  you.

In   this   life   things   will   come  and  go,  the  church  was  here  before  you  arrived  and  it   will  be  here   long  aMer  your  gone.  But,  remember  that  you   have   one   chance   at   being   a  Good  Parent.

Our   daily   graRtude   should   be  directed   towards   God   each   and  every  day.  To  Him  Be  All  the  Glory!!!

Psalm   37:4-‐-‐Delight   yourself   in   the  LORD   and   he   will   give   you   the  desires  of  your  heart.

              Aloha  Ke  Akua;

                               Pastor  Gary  Hamrick
