[1] LAHAINA BAPTIST CHURCH April 2012 PASTOR CHRIS’ CORNER Aloha kakou, Easter is this month and we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ at this time of year – but isn’t it great that we celebrate His resurrection power each day through the abundant life He has given us! As LBC is moving forward in many areas of ministry, continue to pray for God’s guidance and providence each day. Remember to: 1. Pray for our Easter event ministries a. Pray for God to speak through the singing of the choir as they share the Gospel in song at the Cannery and at Whaler’s Village b. Pray for God to touch hearts and lives through the Easter Outreach at Honokowai Beach Park. We want to see God meet the needs of the community and draw many to Him through this time of fellowship, fun and service. 2. Pray for the church planting ministry a. We are continuing to prepare the foundation for a wonderful church plant through the resort ministry. We have spoken with one of our local resorts and are working out the details for the start-up. Please pray that God will use this work to reach more in our community and our world for Him. 3. Pray for the building fund and the upcoming addition a. We are moving forward on the replacement for the education building and are very excited about the plans that have been proposed. We need to receive at total of about $750,000 to complete this project. It sounds like an impossible goal, but God is leading us, so we’ll trust Him to provide for us. Mahalo to those of you who have already given or are giving weekly! Pray about what you can give that we can continue to grow in disciple- making and ministry! Also remember: Most people are willing to respond to some form of outreach about Jesus during the Easter season. This season is all about Jesus! His resurrection is our hope! Please step out and share this hope with others this season. Mahalo again for the wonderful privilege that you have given me to be your pastor. I pray for God’s continued blessings on us all, as we grow closer to Him. Until next month, Aloha in Christ, Pastor Chris

Foundations of Our Faith

The foundation of Christianity rests on the person of Jesus Christ, not a mere man, but God, Himself. It was God’s choice that Jesus die for us. Through His obedience to the Father’s will, Jesus paid the price for our sins. Through his sacrificial death, Jesus provides for the forgiveness of sins to those who believe. Through His power over death, Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to many people. Jesus’ death and resurrection are parts of the foundations of our faith, but there is more…. It is our choice to believe, and receive. Through His Spirit, we are free to refuse to sin and live for Him. Through our obedience to Him, we can abide in Him and lead lives that give God glory. Through His Spirit and power, we can do the work of the Father and build His Church. Jesus’ continued life in the hearts of believers and continued work through His church are parts of the foundations of our faith, but there is still more…. Jesus is coming again. He will come and gather the faithful and take them to live with Him forever. Are we standing on and living out the foundations of our faith? Are we ready and prepared for His return? Will we be counted as the faithful? Study with us every Sunday at 9 in April as we examine our hearts, shore up our foundation, and move forward in obedience. Join us as we encourage one another in our walk with the Lord.

Aloha Ke Akua:

This is the greatest week in the life of a Christian. This is Easter week, and we are making preparations to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If there were ever any point I would want all people to be aware of, it is this: Without the resurrection of Christ we all are in serious trouble. The Bible states: 1 Corinthians 15:17 17  And  if  Christ  has  not  been  raised,  your  faith  is  futile;  you  are  still  in  your  sins.  Remember  without  the  Resurrection,  the  Church  has  no  power.   I pray you will do two things this week. Each day spend time

with God – reading about the death, burial and resurrection of Christ in your Bible, asking God to draw you closer to Him and asking Him to bless our services next Sunday. Also, as you go about your life this week, invite people to come to our services next Sunday. We will have only one service on Easter Sunday and one service on April 15th, as we prepare to hear Don Piper share the story of Life and Death. Don’t forget about the Easter Celebration in Honokowai this Saturday. It will be a time of Food, Family, and Fellowship. The celebration will begin for the public

at 10am and we will close the party down at Noon.

May the Lord Bless you and Keep you and May His face shine upon you, have a Blessed day in the Lord.
