1. SAFETY INFORMATION

Before the installation and use of the appliance, careful-ly read the supplied instructions. The manufacturer isnot responsible if an incorrect installation and use cau-ses injuries and damages. Always keep the instructionswith the appliance for future reference.

1.1 Children and vulnerable people safetyWARNING!Risk of suffocation, injury or permanent disability.

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8years and above and persons with reduced physical,sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experienceand knowledge if they have been given supervision orinstruction concerning use of the appliance in a safeway and understand the hazards involved.

• Do not let children play with the appliance.• Keep all packaging away from children.• Keep all detergents away from children.• Keep children and pets away from the appliance door

when it is open.• If the appliance has a child safety device, we recom-

mend you activate it.• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by

children without supervision.

1.2 General Safety• Before maintenance, deactivate the appliance and

disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket.• Do not change the specification of this appliance.• Obey the maximum load volume of 7 kg (refer to the

“Programme chart” chapter).

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced bythe manufacturer, its service agent or similarly quali-fied persons in order to avoid a hazard.

• The operating water pressure (minimum and maxi-mum) must be between 0,5 bar (0,05 MPa) and 8 bar(0,8 MPa)

• The ventilation openings in the base (if applicable)must not be obstructed by a carpet.

• The appliance is to be connected to the water mainsusing the new supplied hose-sets. Old hose sets mustnot be reused.

2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

2.1 Installation• Remove all the packaging and the

transit bolts.• Keep the transit bolts. When you

move the appliance again you mustblock the drum.

• Do not install or use a damaged appli-ance.

• Do not install or use the appliancewhere the temperature is less than 0°C or where it is exposed to theweather.

• Obey the installation instruction sup-plied with the appliance.

• Make sure that the floor where you in-stall the appliance is flat, stable, heatresistant and clean.

• Do not install the appliance where theappliance door can not be fullyopened.

• Always be careful when you move theappliance because it is heavy. Alwayswear safety gloves.

• Make sure that there is air circulationbetween the appliance and the floor.

• Adjust the feet to have the necessaryspace between the appliance and thecarpet.

Electrical connectionWARNING!Risk of fire and electrical shock.

• The appliance must be earthed.• Make sure that the electrical informa-

tion on the rating plate agrees withthe power supply. If not, contact anelectrician.

• Always use a correctly installed shock-proof socket.

• Do not use multi-plug adapters andextension cables.

• Make sure not to cause damage to themains plug and to the mains cable.Should the appliance power supplycable need to be replaced, this mustbe carried out by our Service Centre.

• Connect the mains plug to the mainssocket only at the end of the installa-tion. Make sure that there is access tothe mains plug after the installation.

• Do not pull the mains cable to discon-nect the appliance. Always pull themains plug.

• Do not touch the mains cable or themains plug with wet hands.

• This appliance complies with theE.E.C. Directives.

Water connection• Make sure not to cause damage to the

water hoses.• The appliance is to be connected to

the water mains using the new sup-plied hose-sets. Old hose sets mustnot be reused.

• Before you connect the appliance tonew pipes or pipes not used for a longtime, let the water flow until it is clean.

• The first time you use the appliance,make sure that there is no leakage.

2.2 UseWARNING!Risk of injury, electrical shock,fire, burns or damage to the ap-pliance.

• Use this appliance in a household on-ly.

• Do not change the specification of thisappliance.

• Do not put flammable products oritems that are wet with flammableproducts in, near or on the appliance.

• Do not touch the glass of the doorwhile a programme operates. Theglass can be hot.

• Make sure that you remove all metalobjects from the laundry.

• The final part of the drying cycle oc-curs without heat (cool down cycle) toensure that the items will not be dam-aged.If you stop the appliance before theend of the drying cycle, immediatelyremove and spread out all items, sothat the heat can dissipate.

• If you use detergent, fabric softener orsimilar products, obey the instructionson the packaging.

• Wipe away lint that has accumulatedaround the appliance.

• Do not dry the damaged items whichcontain padding or fillings .

• Do not dry items such as foam rubber(latex foam), shower caps, waterprooftextiles and rubber backed articles.

• Before drying items that have been incontact with substances such as cook-ing oil, acetone, alcohol , petrol, kero-

sene, spot removers, turpentine, wax-es and wax removers, wash them inhot water with an extra amount of de-tergent.

• Do not dry items if industrial chemicalshave been used for cleaning.

• Make sure that no gas lighters ormatches have been left in the pocketsof the clothing.

• Only dry fabrics which are applicableto dry in the tumble dryer. Follow theinstructions on the fabric label.

• Do not dry not washed items in theappliance.

• If you have washed your laundry with astain remover start an extra rinse cyclebefore you start the appliance.

• Plastic items are not heat resistant.– If you use a detergent ball, remove

it before you set the drying pro-gramme.

– Do not use a detergent ball whenyou set a non-stop programme.

• Do not sit or stand on the open door.• Obey the maximum load volume.• Do not dry dripping wet clothes in the

appliance.

• Do not use water spray and steam toclean the appliance.

• Clean the appliance with a moist softcloth. Only use neutral detergents. Donot use abrasive products, abrasivecleaning pads, solvents or metal ob-jects.

5.1 Display

The display shows the following informa-tion:

Duration of the set programmeWhen you set a programme, the display shows the duration inhours and minutes (for example 2.05).The duration is calculated automatically on the maximum loadfor each type of fabric.After the programme has started, the time remaining is updatedevery minute.

Set drying timewhen you set a drying programme, the display shows the dryingtime in minutes and/or hours (see paragraph «Drying»).After the programme has started, the appliance updates the re-maining time every minute.

Alarm codesIn the event of operating problems, some alarm codes can bedisplayed, for example (see chapter «Troubleshooting»).

End of programmeWhen the programme has finished, the display shows a blinkingzero .The DOOR light C, the WASHING light A (or the DRYING light B)and the light of button 8 go out.The door can be opened.

Incorrect option selectionIf you set an option which is not compatible with the wash pro-gramme, the display shows the message Err for some seconds.The yellow pilot light of button 8 light starts blinking.

Delay StartWhen you press the relevant button to set the delay (20 hoursmax), it appears for some seconds, then the display shows theduration of the set programme.The delay time value decreases by one unit every hour. Whenonly 1 hour remains, the time decreases every minute.

Delay Start symbolThis symbol comes on when you set the delay time.

Child safety lockThis symbol comes on when you activate the child lock function.

After you have pressed the button 8, theWASHING light (A) comes on.The machine is operating.When you set a drying programme, theDRYING light (B) illuminate and stays onduring the drying phase.The DOOR light (C) indicates when thedoor can be opened:• light on: the door cannot be opened• light blinking: the door is opening in

some minutes• light off: the door can be opened

5.3 Acoustic signalsThe machine is provided with an acous-tic device, which sounds in the followingcases:• at the end of the cycle• in the event of operating problems.By pressing the 3 and 4 buttons simulta-neously for some seconds, the acousticsignal is deactivated (except for theevents of operating problems). By press-ing these two buttons again, the acous-tic signal is reactivated.

5.4 Child safety lockThis device permits you to leave the ap-pliance unsupervised and not to worrythat children might be injured by orcause damage to the appliance.This function remains able also when thewashing machine is not working.There are two different ways to set thisoption:• Before pressing button 8: it will be im-

possible to start the machine.

1) «Cotton Energy Saving programme » at 60°C with a load of 7 kg is the referenceprogramme for the data entered in the energy label, in compliance with EEC 92/75standards.

The consumption data shown onthis chart is to be consideredpurely indicative, as it may varydepending on the quantity andtype of laundry, on the inlet wa-ter temperature and on the am-bient temperature.

8. FIRST USE1. To activate the drain system, put 2 li-

tre of water in the main wash com-partment of the detergent dispens-er.

2. Put a small quantity of detergent inthe main wash compartment of the

detergent dispenser. Set and start aprogramme for cotton at the highesttemperature without laundry. Thisremoves all possible dirt from thedrum and the tub.

9. DAILY USE - WASHING

9.1 Loading the laundry1. Open the appliance door.2. Put the laundry in the drum, one

item at a time. Shake the items be-

fore you put them in the appliance.Make sure not to put too much laun-dry in the drum.

3. Close the door.

Make sure that no laundry stays betweenthe seal and the door. There is a risk ofwater leakage or damage to the laundry.

9.2 Filling the detergent and additives

The detergent compartment for the prewash phase, the soakprogramme and for the stain function.Add the detergent for prewash, soak and stain remover beforethe start of the programme.

The detergent compartment for the washing phase.If you use a liquid detergent, put it immediately before you startthe programme.

Liquid additives compartment (fabric conditioner, starch).Put the product in the compartment before you start the pro-gramme.

This is the maximum level for the quantity of liquid additives.

Always obey the instructions that you find on the packaging of the de-tergent products.

9.3 Setting the programme(knob 1 )Turn the programme selector dial to therequired programme.The programme dial determines thetype of washing cycle (e.g. water level,drum movement, number of rinses) andthe washing temperature according tothe type of laundry.The pilot light of button 8 starts blinking.

The programme dial can be turned ei-ther clockwise or anticlockwise.

If you turn the programme dial toanother programme when theappliance is working, the yellowpilot light of button 8 blinks 3times. The display shows themessage Err to indicate a wrongselection. The machine will notperform the new set programme.

9.4 Setting the SPIN speed(button 2)When you set the programme, the appli-ance automatically proposes the maxi-mum spin speed allowed by that pro-gramme.Press this button repeatedly to changethe spin speed. The relevant light willlight up.RINSE HOLD : the water of the last rinseis not emptied out to prevent the fabricsfrom creasing. When the programmehas finished the display shows a blinking

9.5 Setting the STAIN option(button 3)Set this option to treat heavily soiled orstained laundry with stain removerThe appliance extends the main washphase and intensifies the stain actionphase. The relevant light illuminates.

This option is not available witha temperature lower than 40°C.

If you wish to perform a programme withthe stain option, pour stain remover intocompartment .

9.6 Setting the TIME SAVINGoption (button 4)This option allows you to modify thewashing time, automatically proposedby the appliance.Press button 4once

9.7 Setting the EXTRA RINSEoption (button 5)This appliance is designed for saving wa-ter.However, for people with a very delicateskin (allergic to detergents) it may benecessary to rinse the laundry using anextra quantity of water (extra rinse).The appliance will perform some addi-tional rinses.

9.8 Starting the programme(button 8)Press the button 8 to start the pro-gramme. The corresponding red pilotlight stops blinking.The pilot light A is on to indicate thatthe appliance starts operating.The pilot light C is on to indicate thedoor is locked.Press the button 8 to interrupt a pro-gramme which is running. The corre-sponding red pilot light starts blinking.Press the button 8 again to restart theprogramme from the point at which itwas interruptedIf you have chosen a delayed start withbutton 9, the machine will begin thecountdown.If you set an incorrect option, the yellowpilot light of the button 8 blinks for 3times. 9.9 Setting the DELAY START(button 9)Press this button again an again to setthe required delay.The display shows the set delay time val-ue (up to 20 hours) for some seconds,then it shows the duration of the pro-gramme again.Set the delay before you press the but-ton 8.You can delay the wash programme canbe delayed from 30 min - 60 min - 90min, 2 hours and then by 1 hour up to amaximum of 20 hours.Adding items after you have set thedelay (throughout the delay time thedoor will be locked):• Press the button 8 to put the machine

in pause• Add the laundry, close the door .• Press the button 8 again.Setting the delayed start:• Set the programme and the required

options.• Set the delay start.• Press the button 8: the appliance

starts its hourly countdown.The programme will start after the se-lected delay has expired.

Cancelling the delayed start:• Press the button 8 to set the washing

machine to PAUSE;• Press the button 9 once until the dis-

play shows the symbol ’;• Press the button 8 again to start the

programme.

You can change the set delay on-ly after you set the washing pro-gramme again.

The Delay Start can not be selected withDRAIN programme.

9.10 Altering an option or arunning programmeIt is possible to change some optionsbefore the programme carries it out. Be-fore you make any change, you mustpress the button 8 to pause the appli-ance.Changing a running programme is possi-ble only by resetting it.

Turn the programme dial to andthen to the new programme position.Press the 8 button again to start the newprogramme. The washing water in thetub will not emptied out.

9.11 Interrupting aprogrammePress the button 8 to interrupt a pro-gramme which is running, the corre-sponding light starts blinking. Press thebutton again to restart the programme.

9.12 Cancelling a programme

Turn the selector dial to to cancel aprogramme which is running. Now youcan select a new programme.

9.13 Opening the doorWhen the machine is working andthrough the delay time, the door islocked.If, for any reason, it is necessary to openit, firstly press the button 8 to set themachine to pauseIf the light C after a few minutes goesoff, the door can be opened.If the light C stays on and the door re-mains locked, this means that the ma-chine is already heating or that the waterlevel is too high. In this case the doorcan not be opened.If you cannot open the door but youneed to open it, turn the programme di-al to to switch the machine off. Aftera few minutes the door can be opened(pay attention to the water level andtemperature !) .After closing the door, it is necessary toset the programme and the optionsagain. Press button 8 to start the pro-gramme again.

9.14 At the end of theprogrammeThe machine stops automatically. The pi-lot light of button 8, the pilot lights Aand C go off. A blinking will appear onthe display.If you have set a programme or an op-tion that ends with water in the tub, thelight C remains lit. The door is locked.

The water must be emptied out beforeopening the door. During this time thedrum continues to turn at regular inter-vals until water drain.Follow the below instructions to emptyout the water:• Turn the programme selector dial to

• Set the DRAIN or SPIN programme• Reduce the spin speed, if needed• Press the button 8• When the programme has finished the

display shows a blinking . The pilotlight C goes off. The door can beopened.

Turn the programme selector dial to to switch the machine off.Remove the laundry from the drum andcarefully check that the drum is empty. Ifyou do not intend to carry out anotherwash, close the water tap. Leave thedoor open to prevent the formation ofmildew and unpleasant smells.Stand by : once the programme has fin-ished after a few minutes the energy sav-ing system will be enabled. The bright-ness of the display is reduced. By press-ing any button the appliance will comeout of the energy saving status.

10. DAILY USE - DRYING

10.1 Drying onlyThe recommended load size is 3 kg forcottons and linen, and 2 kg for syntheticitems.

It is also possible to dry up to 4kg of cotton items (see the «Dry-ing Programme » table).

The water tap must be open and thedrain hose must be positioned in thesink or connected to the drain pipe.1. Load the laundry.2. Select a spin cycle at the maximum

spin speed allowed for the type oflaundry in order to obtain the bestdrying performances.

3. Set the drying programme for Cot-tons or Synthetic in the Drying sec-tor of the programme dial.

4. Press button 6 to set the dryingtime. Press this button again andagain until the time you want ap-pears on the display.For Cottons you can set a dryingtime from 10 minutes to 250 minutes(hours 4.10).For Synthetic you can select a dryingtime from 10 minutes to 130 minutes(hours 2.10).Every time you press this button thedrying time increases by 5 minutes.

Note! The programme time will au-tomatically increase by a few mi-nutes.

5. Press button 8 to start the pro-gramme.After the programme has started,the time remaining is updated everyminute.

If you set only 10 minutes of dry-ing phase with the timed dryingbutton, the appliance performsonly a cooling phase.

6. At the end of the drying pro-gramme, some acoustic signals

sound. A blinking appears on thedisplay.The pilot light B, and C and the lightof the button 8 go off.At this point, begins an anti-creasephase, which lasts for about 10 mi-nutes. During this time the light C ison. The door cannot be opened.

If you need to open the door be-fore or during the anti-creasephase or to interrupt it, press anybutton or turn the programmedial to any programme position(except O.The door can be opened aftersome minutes. (In any case donot try to open the door if it islocked!) .

7. Turn the selector dial to the O posi-tion to switch the machine off.

8. Remove the laundry.Note!The different type of cottons (towelling,sheets, shirts, and so on) or any laundryitems rolling up during the spinningphase may result in partial dryness.In the exceptional case that at the end ofthe cycle the laundry remains slightlywet, we suggest that you unfold the rol-led up items, redistribute them evenly inthe drum and select an additional dryingcycle of 20-30 minutes.

10.2 NON-STOP programme:Washing and Timed dryingThe recommended load size is 3 kg forcotton and 2 kg for synthetic.

It is also possible to dry up to 4kg of cotton items (see the «Dry-ing Programme » table).

CAUTION!Do not use a dosing device/ballwhen carrying out a washingand drying programme.

1. Load the laundry.2. Add detergent and fabric softener.3. Switch the machine on: turn the se-

lector dial to the required washingprogramme/fabric.

4. Press the relevant buttons to set therequired options.

If possible, do not set a spinspeed lower than that proposedby the appliance to avoid toolong a drying time therefore sav-ing energy. In any case the low-est values you can select are 900r.p.m. for cottons and syntheticsand 700 r.p.m. for delicate fab-rics. The reduction of the spinspeed is only possible after se-lecting drying.

5. Press the button 6 to set the dryingtime. When selecting a «non-stopprogramme» the pilot lights A and Billuminate.

The DRYING TIME value appears onthe display for some seconds, thenthe entire duration of the washingand drying cycle appears.

If you set a washing programmeand only 10 minutes of drying cy-cle by pressing the button 6, thetotal duration of the cycles dis-played includes also the unroll-ing and the cooling phase.

6. Press the button 8 to start the pro-gramme. After the programme hasstarted, the time remaining is upda-ted every minute.

7. At the end of the programme, followthe indications given in the previouschapter. Then, turn the selector tothe O position to switch the machineoff.

8. Remove the laundry.

10.3 Fluff in the garmentsDuring the WASHING AND/OR DRYINGPHASE, certain types of fabric, assponge-cloth, wool, sweatshirt, could re-lease fluff.The released fluff could stick to the fab-rics during the next cycle.This drawback increases with technicalfabrics.To prevent the lint in your clothes, it isrecommended:• To do not wash dark fabrics after you

washed and dried light colored fabrics(new sponge, wool, sweatshirt espe-cially) and vice versa.

• To air-dry this type of fabrics whenthey are washed the first time.

• To clean the filter.• Perform one or more rinse cycles to

wash the drum between the washingand drying of fabrics with different col-ors.

• After the drying phase, thoroughlyclean the empty drum, the gasket andthe door with a wet rag.

11. HELPFUL HINTS AND TIPS

11.1 The laundry load• Divide the laundry in: white, coloured,

synthetics, delicates and wool.• Obey the washing instructions that are

on the laundry care labels.• Do not wash together white and col-

oured items.• Some coloured items can discolour

with the first wash. We recommendthat you wash them separately for thefirst times.

• Button up pillowcases, close zippers,hooks and poppers. Tie up belts.

• Empty the pockets and unfold theitems.

• Turn inside out multilayered fabrics,wool and items with painted illustra-tions.

• Remove hard stains.• Wash with a special detergent heavy

soil stains.• Be careful with the curtains. Remove

the hooks or put the curtains in awashing bag or pillowcase.

• Do not wash in the appliance :– Laundry without hems or with cuts– Underwired bras.– Use a washing bag to wash small

items.• A very small load can cause balance

problems with the spin phase. If thisoccurs, adjust manually the items inthe tub and start the spin phase again.

11.2 Stubborn stainsFor some stains, water and detergent isnot sufficient.We recommend that you remove thesestains before you put the items in theappliance.Special stain removers are available. Usethe special stain remover that is applica-ble to the type of stain and fabric.

11.3 Detergents and additives• Only use detergents and additives

specially made for washing machines.• Do not mix different types of deter-

gents.• To help the environment, do not use

more than the correct quantity of de-tergent.

• Obey the instructions that you find onthe on packaging of these products.

• Use the correct products for the typeand colour of the fabric, the pro-gramme temperature and the level ofsoil.

• If you use liquid detergents, do not setthe prewash phase.

• If your appliance has not the deter-gent dispenser with the flap device,add the liquid detergents with a dos-ing ball.

11.4 Water hardnessIf the water hardness in your area is highor moderate, we recommend that youuse a water softener for washing ma-chines. In areas where the water hard-ness is soft it is not necessary to use awater softener.To know the water hardness in your area,contact your local water authority.Obey the instructions that you find onthe packaging of the products.Equivalent scales measure the waterhardness:• German degrees (°dH).• French degrees (°TH).• mmol/l (millimol for each litre - inter-

national unit for the hardness of wa-ter).

Prepare the drying cycle• Open the water tap.• Do a check if the connection of the

12.3 Drying cycle durationThe drying time can change dependingon:• speed of the last spin• dryness level• type of laundry• weight of the load sizeGENERAL TIPSRefer to the «Drying programmes» tableto find the average drying times.The experience will help you to dry thelaundry in a more correct way. Take noteof the duration drying time of the cyclesdone before.To avoid the static charge at the end ofthe drying cycle:• Use fabric conditioner in the washing

cycle.• Use special fabric conditioner for tum-

ble dryers.When the drying programme is comple-ted remove the laundry in a short time.

12.4 Additional dryingIf, at the end of the drying programme,the laundry is still damp, set a short dry-ing cycle again.

WARNING!To avoid creases of fabrics orshrinks of the clothing do notover dry the laundry.

13. CARE AND CLEANINGWARNING!

Disconnect the appliance from the mainssupply before you clean it.

13.1 DescalingThe water we use contains limescale. If itbecomes necessary, use a water softenerto remove limescales.Use a special product made for washingmachines. Obey the instructions that you

find on the packaging of the manufactur-er.Do this separately from the laundrywash.

13.2 External cleaningClean the appliance only with soap andwarm water. Fully dry all the surfaces.

CAUTION!Do not use alcohol, solvents orchemical products.

13.3 Door seal

Regularly examine the seal and removeall objects from the inner part.

13.4 DrumRegularly examine the drum to preventlimescale and rust particles.Only use special products to remove rustparticles from the drum.To do this:

• Clean the drum with special productfor stainless steel.

• Start a short programme for cotton atthe maximum temperature with asmall quantity of detergent.

13.6 Drain pumpThe pump should be inspected regularlyand particularly if:• the appliance does not empty and/or

spin;• the appliance makes an unusual noise

during draining due to objects such assafety pins, coins etc. blocking thepump;

• a problem with water draining is de-tected (see chapter “Troubleshoot-ing” for more details).

WARNING!Before unscrewing the pumpcover, switch the appliance offand remove the mains plug fromthe socket.

Proceed as follows:1. Unplug the appliance.2. If it is necessary, wait until the water

has cooled down.

5. When no more water comes out,unscrew the pump cover (A) by turn-ing it anti-clockwise and remove thefilter. Use pliers, if necessary.Always keep a rag nearby to dry upany water spillages when removingthe cover. Clean the filter under atap, to remove any traces of fluff.

6. Remove foreign bodies and flufffrom the filter seat and from thepump impeller.

7. Check carefully whether the pumpimpeller rotates (it rotates jerkily). Ifit doesn’t rotate, please contactyour Service Centre.

8. Put the cap back on the emergencyemptying hose and place the latterback in its seat.

9. Replace the filter into the pump byinserting it correctly into the specialguides. Screw the pump cover firmlyby turning it clockwise.

WARNING!

When the appliance is in use and de-pending on the programme selectedthere can be hot water in the pump.Never remove the pump cover during awash cycle, always wait until the appli-ance has finished the cycle, and is emp-ty. When refitting the pump cover, en-sure it is securely re-tightened so as tostop leaks and young children beingable to remove it.

13.7 The inlet hose filter andthe valve filterIt could be necessary to clean the filterswhen:• The appliance does not fill with water.• The appliance fills with the water for a

long time.• The indicator of button 8 flashes and

the display shows the related alarm.Refer to 'Troubleshooting'.

WARNING!Disconnect the mains plug fromthe mains socket.

To clean the water inlet filters:

1. Close the water tap.2. Remove the water inlet hose from

the water tap.3. Clean the filter in the inlet hose with

a stiff brush.

4. Remove the inlet hose behind theappliance.

5. Clean the filter in the valve with astiff brush or a towel.

6. Install again the inlet hose. Makesure that the couplings are tight toprevent leakages.

7. Open the water tap.

13.8 Emergency emptying outIf the water is not discharged, proceedas follows to empty out the appliance:1. pull out the plug from the power

socket;2. close the water tap;3. if necessary, wait until the water has

cooled down;4. place a bowl on the floor;5. place the end of the emergency

emptying hose into the bowl;6. Remove its cap. The water should

drain by gravity into the bowl. Whenthe bowl is full, put the cap back onthe hose. Empty the bowl;Repeat the procedure until waterstops flowing out;

7. clean the pump if necessary as previ-ously described;

8. replace the emergency emptyinghose in its seat after having pluggedit;

9. screw the pump again.

13.9 Frost precautionsIf the machine is installed in a placewhere the temperature could drop be-low 0°C, proceed as follows:1. close the water tap;2. unscrew the water inlet hose from

the tap;3. place the end of the emergency

emptying hose and that of the inlethose in a bowl placed on the floor.Let water drain out;

4. screw the water inlet hose back on;5. put the cap on the emergency emp-

tying hose again;6. reposition the emergency emptying

hose.

By doing this, any water remaining in themachine is removed, avoiding ice form-ing and consequently damage to the ap-pliance.

When you use the machine again, makesure that the ambient temperature isabove 0°C.

14. TROUBLESHOOTINGCertain problems are due to lack of sim-ple maintenance or oversights, whichcan be solved easily without calling outan engineer. Before contacting your lo-cal Service Centre, please carry out thechecks listed below.During machine operation it is possiblethat the yellow pilot light of button 8blinks, one of the following alarm codesappears on the display and at the sametime some acoustic signals sound every20 seconds to indicate that the machineis not working:

• : problem with the water supply• : problem with the water drain-

ing• : door open• : anti-flooding system has activa-

tedOnce the problem has been eliminated,press the button 8 to restart the pro-gramme. If after all checks, the problempersists, contact your local Service Cen-tre.

one.Check whether there are any leaks from one of theinlet hose fittings. It is not always easy to see this asthe water runs down the hose; check to see if it isdamp.• Check the water inlet hose connection.The drain or the inlet hose is damaged.• Replace it with a new one.The cap on the emergency emptying hose has notbeen replaced or the filter has not been properlyscrewed in after cleaning action.• Refit the cap on the emergency emptying hose or

screw the filter fully in.

Spinning starts late orthe machine does notspin:

The electronic unbalance detection device has cut inbecause the laundry is not evenly distributed in thedrum. The laundry is redistributed by reverse rota-tion of the drum. This may happen several times be-fore the unbalance disappears and normal spinningcan resume. Machines based on modern technology operatevery economically using very little water without af-fecting performance.

The display shows thealarm code :

Anti-flooding system has activated.• Pull out the plug from the power socket, close the

water tap and contact the Service Force Centre.

The laundry is full ofdifferent colored fluff:

The fabrics washed in the previous cycle releasedfluff of a different colour.• The drying phase helps to eliminate some fluff.• Clean the clothes with a fluff remover.In case of an excessive amount of fluff in thedrum repeat the following procedure twice:• Thoroughly clean the empty drum, the gasket and

the door with a wet rag.• Perform a rinse cycle.• Put a wool or piled fabric rag inside the drum.• Perform a drying cycle of 10 minutes.• Remove the old wool cloth.Now you can wash other garments.

15. INSTALLATION

15.1 Unpacking

1. Use the gloves. Remove the externalfilm. If necessary, use a cutter.

2. Remove the cardboard top.3. Remove the polystyrene packaging

materials.

4. Remove the internal film.

5. Open the door. Remove the poly-styrene piece from the door sealand all the items from the drum.

6. Put one of the polystyrene packag-ing elements on the floor behindthe appliance. Carefully put downthe appliance with the rear side onit. Make sure not to damage the ho-ses.

7. Remove the polystyrene protectionfrom the bottom.

8. Pull up the appliance in vertical po-sition.

9. Remove the power supply cable andthe drain hose from the hose hold-ers.

10. Remove the three bolts. Use the keysupplied with the appliance.

12. Put the plastic caps in the holes.You can find these caps in the usermanual bag.

WARNING!Remove all the packaging andthe transit bolts before you installthe appliance.

We recommend that you keepthe packaging and the transitbolts for when you move the ap-pliance.

15.2 Positioning and levelling

• Install the machine on a flat hard floor.• Make sure that air circulation around

the machine is not impeded by car-pets, rugs etc.

• Carefully level by screwing the adjust-able feet in or out.

• After having levelled the appliance,tighten the lock nuts.

• The appliance must be level and sta-ble.

Never place cardboard, wood orsimilar materials under the ma-chine to compensate for any un-evenness in the floor.

If it is impossible to avoid positioningthe machine next to a gas cooker orcoalburning stove, an insulating panelcovered with aluminium foil on the sidefacing the cooker or stove, must be in-serted between the two appliances.

Before placing it on small tiles, apply arubber coating.The water inlet hose and the drain hosemust not be kinked.

CAUTION!The machine must not be instal-led in rooms where the tempera-ture can drop below 0°C.

15.3 The inlet hose

• Connect the hose to the appliance.Turn the inlet hose only left or right.Loose the ring nut to set it in the cor-rect position.

• Connect the water inlet hose to thecold water tap with 3/4 thread.

CAUTION!Make sure that there are no leaksfrom the couplings.

Do not use an extension hose ifthe inlet hose is too short. Con-tact the service centre for the re-placement of the inlet hose.

Water-stop device

A

The inlet hose has a water stop device.This device prevents water leaks in thehose because of its natural ageing. Thered sector in the window «A» shows thisfault .If this occur, close the water tap andcontact the service centre to replace thehose.

15.4 Water drainageThere are different procedures to con-nect the drain hose:

With the plastic hose guide.

• On the edge of a sink.• Make sure that the plastic guide can-

not move when the appliance drains.Attach the guide to the water tap orthe wall.

• To a stand pipe with vent-hole.Refer to the illustration. Directly into adrain pipe at a height of not less than60 cm (23.6”) and not more than 100cm (39.3”). The end of the drain hosemust always be ventilated , i.e. the in-ner diameter of the drainpipe (min. 38mm — min. 1.5”) must be larger thanthe external diameter of the drainhose.

• If the end of the drain hose is this (seethe drawing), you can push it directlyinto the stand pipe.

• To a sink spigot.Refer to the illustration. Put the drainhose in the spigot and tighten it with aclip. Make sure that the drain hosemakes a loop to prevent that remain-ing particles go in the appliance fromthe sink.

• Directly to a built-in drain pipe in theroom wall and tighten it with a clip.

You can extend the drain hose tomaximum 400 cm. Contact theservice centre for the other drainhose and the extension.

15.5 In the interest of the environment

• Connect the appliance to the FOULsystem for the drain water. The sew-age works keeps the drain water forthe treatment before to release safelyit into a river. Do not connect this ap-pliance to the surface drain system ofthe water because it releases the drainwater directly into a river or streamwithout a treatment and this can causeof pollution. Contact your local waterauthority to have more information.

• HingesTo mount the hinges it is necessary todrill two holes (dia. 35 mm, depth12.5-14 mm depending on the depthof door furniture) on the inner side ofthe door. The distance between theholes hobs fixing centres must be 416mm.The distance from upper edge of thedoor to the centre of the hole de-pends on the adjacent furniture's di-mensions.The hinges will be fixed to the door bymeans of screws for wood 1 and 2(Fig. 4) supplied with the appliance.

• Mounting the doorFix the hinges to the appliance bymeans of the M5x15 screws . The hing-es can be adjusted to compensate forpossible uneven thickness of the door.To align the door perfectly it is neces-sary to loosen the screw , adjust thedoor and tighten the screw A again(Fig. 5).

• Counter-magnetThe appliance is prearranged for amagnetic closure of the door. To ena-ble a correct operation of this device,it is necessary to screw the counter-magnet A (steel disk + rubber ring) in-to the inner side of the door.Its position must correspond to themagnet B on the appliance (Fig. 6).
