8. CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS
1. Radionuclide speciation and mobility in the environment. Radionuclides can exhibit toxicity and
mobility in the environment. The general area of work is to devise separation and analysis
techniques to predict the species that are mobile in the environment.
2. Characterization of Natural Organic Matter (NOM). This involves the analysis and
characterization of one of the least well known components of natural waters. This involves
novel spectroscopic techniques, in tandem with bench-top techniques (ultrafiltration, solid phase
extraction, ion exchange).
