Ministry of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection City of Belmopan Belize Ref: BEL/ADMIN/011 (74) August 25, 2011 PRESS RELEASE LAUNCHING OF THE “INCLUSIVE LINKAGES PROJECT” AT THE BORDER ZONE IN BELIZE-GUATEMALA The Belize Trade & Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) in collaboration with the Regional Center for the Promotion of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise (CENPROMYPE) and the Ministry of Economy in Guatemala, hereby informs the general public of its official launching of the “Inclusive Linkages” Project in Belize. This initiative is funded by the Austrian Cooperation and the launch will be held on Tuesday, August 30 th 2011, at the Centennial Park in Benque Viejo Del Carmen commencing at 10:00 a.m. The main objective of the Inclusive Linkages Project is to “incorporate Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Belize-Guatemala border region into established production value chains”. As a result of this, economic development, regional food security and environmental sustainability will be enhanced in both Belize and Guatemala. Ms. Lucrecia Romero was recently selected as the “Local Coordinator” responsible for the Belize- Guatemala region to execute the project with the facilitation from BELTRAIDE and CENPROMYPE.
