Message from APIC Last Training Courses of 2013 Recognizing the need to accommodate multiple learning styles and extend learning beyond the classroom, APIC offers in- depth, interactive, live courses for infection prevention training. APICs live courses are held in conjunction with each other, twice a year in the spring and fall. This offers the attendee a chance to attend multiple courses while minimizing cost and time away from the ofce. Along with the classroom training, these courses offer invaluable networking opportunities to connect with other healthcare professionals who face the same concerns. EDUCATION FOR THE PREVENTION OF INFECTION (EPI Ò ) EPI Ò courses are recommended for infection preventionists (IPs), including registered nurses (RNs), nurse epidemiologists, medical technologists (MTs), and those who train other healthcare providers, working in any healthcare setting. Through EPI Ò , attendees will learn to create and effectively manage their infection prevention programs by gaining tools to comply with state and federal regulations impacting infection prevention in healthcare settings, become part of a network of IPs to problem solve, understand how to meet Joint Commission requirements, and begin the critical path to becoming board certied in infection control (CIC). EPI Ò courses are offered in two different experience levels, EPI Ò 101 (novice) and EPI Ò 201 (intermediate). Both levels consist of a 3-day live classroom portion and an online portion following the classroom segment. The fall course dates are: Fall course: October 6-8, 2013, Denver, CO Non-members receive a one-year complimentary APIC member- ship with registration INFECTION PREVENTION FOR AMBULATORY SURGERY CENTERS This course is designed specically for anyone working in an ambulatory surgery center, including nurses, doctors, administra- tors, and anyone who is responsible for the implementation or supervision of infection prevention functions. The Infection Prevention for Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) course teaches you how to build and manage an effective infection prevention program, understand regulatory requirements, reduce risk, and better protect patients. The ASC course consists of a 2-day live classroom setting and an online portion following the classroom segment.
