SunRideDesign and implementation of a sustainable mobility system in Cape Town | 2011| Graduation project | PoliMi and CPUT | in collaboration with Silvia Remotti
The aim of the project is to offer sustainable mobility, firstly, to elderly and disa-bled people, and secondly to commuters and tourists, both in the city centre and in the poorer outer suburbs of Cape Town. The mobility system is designed around a solar and electric bicycle taxi. The solar-electric taxi was designed and manufactured thanks to the collaboration between Italian and South-African partners (DIS of PoliMi, CPUT, Shonaquip and BEN bikes).

SunRideDesign and implementation of a sustainable mobility system in Cape Town | 2011| Graduation project | PoliMi and CPUT | in collaboration with Silvia Remotti
The peculiarity of this project is that followed a specific design approach: an approach focused not only on designing the solution, but also on designing the proper transition path strategy and activities to gradually incu-bate, introduce and scale up the concept. In parallel with the identification and in-volvement of the actors that can support and foster the implementation process. It is a dynamic approach, in fact the PSS concept vision is not a static goal to achieve, but it is always subjected to adaptations and evolution as consequence of the imple-mentation process.
The followed design approach brought to design and imple-ment (for now) two pilot project. The most significant socio-technical ex-periment (or pilot project) has been implemented in Lavender Hill.Since the thesis project is part of a bilateral agreement between Italian and South African Universities is not ended and it is still a work in progress.

Hostel +bcBusiness canvas analysis for the no-profit association +bc | 2010/11| Final design studio | PoliMi | in collaboration Silvia Remotti and Epon Gao.
Business model “as is”
Research and analysis about the Business model of the no-profit associa-tion, which aims at teaching how to fix bicycles, adopt-ing a learning-by doing ap-proach. The “Ciclofficina” is a space where people freely can find tools, spare parts and share the passion for bicycle. It is completely run by volunteers which means that when people have time contribute to make this initiative works. Mainly for this reason, it does not have a stable business model and it has risked to close.
Business model “to be”
The canvas shows how the association can make dif-ferent partnership and be economically sustain-able and make clean profit, without leave behind the key value of the associa-tion. For example making a partnership with hostels in Milan, providing recycled bicycle to the tourists of the hostel. Old bicycles and spare parts are provided by the Po-lice of Milan which collect abandoned bicycles around the city.

Fit’itDesign, manufacturing and advertisement of a portable and sustainable furniture kit | 2011| Industrial design studio | CPUT, Cape Town
Left Right Design is a design team (6 students from BTECH industrial design of CPUT). The goal of the course was to design, manufac-ture and sell an industrial object. The Fit’it kit composed of a table and a set of stools was designed in order to satisfy a specific cat-egory of users: students, young professional... who often move from a house to another or don’t have big houses. The product de-signed is extremely sustainable because the shape is obtained us-ing at most the dimension of the sheet of plywood. Furthermore the furniture can be assembled and disassembled an endless number of time, without extra tools ( no screw, no glue) and it is easily transportable.
