New Parent Governor
Congratulations to Jamie Cowen, parent
of two children at the school, who is now
our new parent governor. As we only had
one nominee, there was no need for an
election to take place. With his literary
background, we are certain that Jamie
will bring a wealth of experience and
skills to the governing body and look forward to his support
and challenge in the years ahead.
What is your child learning in school?
In response to a request made by lots of
parents during last Summer’s coffee
morning we’re going to send home a
weekly e-mail which will include the
details of what your child is learning in school that
week. We will aim to send the e-mail out first thing on a
Monday morning meaning you will be able to better
support your child’s school learning for that week. The
e-mail will contain an attachment with your child’s weekly
learning objectives in reading, writing and maths.
Ofsted Parent View
Thank you to the TWO parents who have now given us a
review on Ofsted’s Parent View; now we need at least 8
more for the data to be used by Ofsted! Parent View
gives you the chance to tell Ofsted what you think about
Lancasterian Primary, from the quality of teaching to
dealing with bullying and poor behaviour. The survey can
be completed at any time; you don’t have to wait until the
school is being inspected. All submissions are anonymous
and the school can see summary data to help us know
what we are doing well and what we should work
on. Please could you spare 5 minutes to complete the
short online survey and share your thoughts. Simply
google ‘Ofsted Parent View’.
Coffee Morning
Thanks to the many parents/carers who attended coffee
morning this Thursday, it was great to see such enthusiastic
support for the school. I hope you found it useful to hear
about our school improvement priorities for this year.

House Captains’ Self-Evaluation Document
Following their away day on Friday, please see on the next
page, the House Captains and Vice House Captains School Self-
Evaluation Document. They worked very hard to collate a mas-
sive amount of information and feedback from the other chil-
dren to agree the current school strengths and areas for devel-
opment and will go through them with the children in whole
school assembly on Friday; please take the time to have a
quick look. The house captains will now write their School Im-
provement Plan to decide how they will spend their £5,000
budget improving the areas for development they have
identified.

OUR VISION We will make a fairer society.
A society where everyone can reach the top of the mountain, because all of us understand that achieving ambitions ncludes learning from mistakes.
A society where everyone has the skills and knowledge to open any door, because all of us break down barriers to opportunity.
A society where everyone improves the world we share, because all of us seek creative solutions to the issues we face together.
To do this, we will make the best school.
A school where every child embraces learning as a demanding lifelong journey, because all of us show them how to love challenge and growth.
A school where every child feels proud of who they are and their own uniqueness, because all of us celebrate difference.
A school where every child leaves the gate with fond memories, a creative outlook and a sense of excitement for the road ahead, because all of us have put them at the centre of everything we do.
NEXT STEPS FOR THE SCHOOL IDENTIFIED IN 2017 OFSTED
Leaders and those responsible for governance should ensure that:
teachers plan activities that extend the level of challenge available for the most able pupils to deepen and broaden their learning; middle leaders are developed further so they have the necessary skills to check on the quality of teaching in their subject areas and offer
appropriate advice and guidance to staff.
