From The Headmaster Why winning is important….

Winning a game or being the best in the class gives children a good feel-ing about themselves and makes them proud. It shows them that they are good at something which builds their self-confidence.

A confident child is more likely to develop a ‘can-do-attitude’. Competition is also helpful to inspire children to do more than is re-quired. World School Games Our WSG team has been selected and parents of the qualified students have been notified. There was a meeting with the parents this week and plans are now well un-derway for WSG 2020. We wish Team LPSS the very best and look forward to a successful time in Dubai.

LPSS Fun Day 2019

Thank you to all the parents who stopped by the Fun Day stands today and made generous dona-tions. If you were unable to, don’t worry, there are plenty of way you can help out.

This year, we are raising funds to support the Blind Society. We sup-port them every year by contract-ing them to design our Fun Day T-Shirts. This year, we would like to take it up a notch and to do that, we need your help.

Unlike other years, we will not be giving out T-Shirts for free so do-nations to cover the cost of the T-Shirt, and through that, the work of the Blind Society will go a long way. If we are unable to gather sponsorship, we will sell T-shirts to our children to support the cause.

If you would prefer to donate food or drinks, raffle draw prices or items that can be sold on the day, it will be beneficial in raising funds.

Can you or your company provide sponsorship for the programme or for individual rides, details and benefits for each category is spelt out in the Fun Day document be-low. There is also vendor infor-mation if you will like to promote your business. Hard copies can be picked up from Ms Joyce.

We always need volunteers, so if you can give up a couple of hours on the day to help, please inform PTA Ex-Co member. Thank you!

This week’s assembly saw the introduction of more involvement by the stu-dents as the prefects had a chance to give out certificates and announce the house with the highest house points.

As usual, certificates were awarded and there were musical performances. This week, mathematicians received their awards at both the primary and secondary assemblies.

Early years were not left out! Stickers were given out to the various super stars in each class and they learnt about showing affection with the help of the giant visitor in the picture.

Year 6 Meeting This week, the head and deputy head met with year 6 parents to ex-plore secondary school options for our graduating students. Please share information about our Year 7 entrance exam to friends and family.

Michaelmas Term Diary From the School Business Manager Dear Parents,

Welcome back to this school year. Con-gratulations on your massive support for the students, that resulted in a remarka-ble and well attended Independence day celebration.

Further to our communication with you towards the end of last term, we deem it necessary to provide you an update on the recruitment of a new Head for the s c h o o l . 1. Following Mr. Barrett's retirement in June 2019, the board commenced steps immediately to recruit a new head using a UK based consulting firm of internation-al repute.

2. Early in that process it became appar-ent that the new hire would only be available in January 2020.

3. In order that there would not be a vac-uum, and rather than extend Mr. Bar-rett's contract for one more term, the board invited in Mr. John Samuel, the
