structure or tennis-racket-shaped bodies.

CD34+ become LCs in the blood = differentiation.

LCs ingest particules and process antigens.
some LCs become activated (TNF-ά and IL 1).

Out of the epidermis: LCs exit the epidermis and migrate
to regional lymph nodes and mature.
Changes: morphology and function: LCs lose their ability to process
antigen and instead
acquire immunostimulatory activity acquire characteristics necessary to
present antigen to T lymphocytes.

LCs act as sentinels of the immune system.
The migration of LCs and their transport of antigen from the skin to draining lymph nodes are known to be important in the induction of cutaneous immune responses.
