Spanning from Petone to Orongorongo in Lower Hutt, the 115km Rimutaka Cycle Trail serves up bush-clad hills, old rail tunnels, rivers, a big rocky coast and farm riding. Follow the Hutt River Trail with swimming holes and picnic spots along green city fringes. Cycle Rimutaka provides tour options, cycle hire and shuttles to the trail.

Explore dozens more: easy lush forest tracks, ride along the rugged coast to discover New Zealand’s first lighthouse, ride the hand-dug trails of Wainuiomata Trail Project and Belmont Regional Park and pedal up to spectacular valley views to earn some downhill fun.
