G'day again folks and welcome to the Kuta Weekly “Bali's Premier Weekly Newspaper” We thank all our loyal readers and especially our loyal sponsors to the paper and will make an undertaking that we will continue to present everyone with the best weekly newspaper in Bali. I have it on good authority that the powers that be at The Kuta Town houses have just finished installing the big screen for the footy Grand Final in a few weeks and Holy Hobbs of Hell you gotta see the size of this….It is an exact copy of the one on

Bemo Corner that lights up the night. I'm not talking about a piddly arse LCD or a projector, or a 42” flatty, I'm talking about the biggest Mutha of a television that has ever been installed in a hotel in Bali or South East Asia. This thing is huge and will make the action on the day, about as close as you could possibly get to being at the game itself. They have installed a brand new sound and public address system that would rival any super club unit, including all BOSE equipment, and again I can safely say that there isn't anything that will come close to this at any hotel or sporting venue in South East Asia. The day is shaping up to be a great shin dig and I implore you to get in quick and grab a pre sale ticket at the reduced price. We are all looking forward to a good game on the day with plenty of food and a few cold ones with friends. Check out the advert on page 12 & 13.

Moving along, this week brings me to write about one of those sticky situations that happens all over the world, but because it happens in Bali, first time travellers think it's the worst most heinous crime that could ever happen to someone while on the island of the gods, when in reality, it happens in every big city and even more so when we talk about underdeveloped places or third world countries. There is no difference, however, the difference comes into play when the police actually catch a snatcher and take them to the local station for processing. That's right folks, it's about the dreaded bag snatcher. I don't think there could possibly be a lower class of criminal, if they where classed and offer and example, if you are caught in Australia it is all documented as far as your crime goes, you are finger printed and everything that the plod find on you that is stolen is photographed as evidence and a case is made to present to the magistrate to get you charged and convicted. Sounds easy and the way things should work. The difference is that when the bad guy is caught here, the evidence is kept until the court has been faced by the police and the criminal so the tourists don't get to have their mobile phone, credit cards, purse with passport etc etc back until then… Do you see how this is heading now ?? Because the traveller simple “can't go” without their belongings, the case will not go to court and the little snatcher bastard gets to roll straight out the door and so starts the circle again. Unfortunately as this is the way things are done here, that is that, and it isn't about to change for the 280 million people that live here and call the archipelago home as they must adhere to the same rules. At the end of the day if you are out and about and carrying your entire booty with you, then you need to be really, really careful.

Ok folks that's about my lot this week and I will leave you to ponder the universe until we meet again. I trust the most of you stay safe, happy, healthy and always try your very best to remember, there are three things that cant be hidden for very long, the sun the moon and truth.

Enjoy your week,

ALIASJ.....

Girlfriend makes boyfriend wear humiliating T-shirt while on holiday

A possessive girlfriend made her partner of six years wear a T-shirt covered in pictures of the two of them together.

Abbie Bartlett, 20, had the shirt custom-made for her boyfriend Leon Connolly, 24.

It bears the uncompromising message: 'I love my girlfriend Abbie, I hate the girls in Ibiza, so please stay away from me'.

Miss Bartlett told how she produced the shirt as a surprise as he was packing his bags to leave.

Pictures of Mr Connolly wearing the T-shirt were then posted online and received large amounts of attention leading Miss Bartlett to worry it could have the opposite effect and attract girls who 'like a challenge'.

But the couple, who have a five-year-old daughter and live together in Newcastle, have laughed off the publicity and are treating the incident as a joke.

Miss Bartlett said, 'When I took it in to the printing shop and explained what I wanted I swear they must have thought I was a psycho.

'Leon wasn't expecting it, I had mentioned that I would make him a t-shirt but didn't think I

actually would.'He saw the funny side of it

because it is really just a joke, he and I have a really similar sense of humour.

'He ended up laughing about it and even posed for pictures wearing it.'

Abbie, a criminology student at Northumbria University, said: 'Leon said he definitely will wear it in Ibiza now because he's practically famous, but I think it might have the opposite effect.

'Now that everyone has seen it online I think it might just attract loads of girls... some girls

like a challenge.' 'I have absolutely no

reason to be jealous or possessive because I know Leon would never cheat on me.

'We met when we were really young and have been together ever since. I trust him completely and we've been on separate holidays before, that's just how our relationship works, we do our own thing.'

Mr Bartlett, who is in a band called Good Friend and works in a warehouse, left Newcastle on three days ago for a festival in Ireland and flies out to Ibiza this Friday.

He said: 'At first I thought is she serious? She wanted me to

wear it to all the big clubs like Pacha etc.

'But now I get that it's a joke I'm happy enough to go along with it, that's just how our relationship is it's just silly.

'People have been saying that wearing the t-shirt might attract girls, some girls will definitely take it as some sort off challenge.

'I just have to laugh about it, Abbie is the only girl for me an we both know that!'

0% of Bali's arrivals from Regional Sourcessource of foreign travelers,

PRC holidaymakers have increased 45.66% for January-July 2014 when compared to the same period in 2013. It is now within the realms of possibility that Chinese visitors to Bali might eclipse Australian visitors within the period of one or two years hence and become the largest source of Bali visitors.

Malaysia is now the third largest source of Bali visitors, increasing 19.75% thus far in 2014 totaling 125,173.

How fast and how far the great have fallen is the story of Japan – once unassailable as the top producer of Bal's foreign visitors – now shrunk to fourth place. Japan declined 2.18% year-on-year through the end of July and is now poised to soon slip to fifth or sixth place as Singapore and South Korea continue post strong growth in arrivals.

The Island Republic of

Bal i by the Numbers: January- July 2014 Foreign Tourist Arrivals to Bali Up 16.69%

Total foreign arrivals to Bali January – July broke the 2 million mark totaling 2,089.706 visitors - a number 16.69% ahead of the same period in 2013.

If arrivals maintain the 16.69% rate-of-growth through the end of the year, Bali should finish the year with a record 3.8 million foreign visitors.

Australian visitors, after domestic holidaymakers, continue to be Bali's biggest source of visitors. As the leading source of foreign guests, Australian arrivals to Bali have increased 17.8% year-on-year through the end of July, passing the half-million mark in July.

Meanwhile, the surge in Mainland Chinese visitors is markedly changing the face of Bali tourism. Now the second-largest

S i ngapo re r epo r t s an increase of 46.10% in Bali arrivals year-on-year through the end of July, while South Korea is up 11.75%.

Be sure to keep an eye on Indian travelers who grew 38.75% through the end of July.

Russia, once touted as the “next big thing” for Bali tourism is slipping in the ranks, dropping 11.04% year-on-year at the end of July. Bellicose foreign policies, economic sanctions form the U.S.A. and NATO, and a 13% percent depreciation in Ruble all bode ill for Russian travel in the short and medium-term.

More than 75% of Bali's foreign visitors come from the Asia-Paci f ic and ASEAN. Throw Indonesian domestic travelers into the equation and nearly 90% of Bali visitors now come from domestic and regional sources.

Crackdown to stop oversize carry-on bagsThe days of passengers bending Jetstar's carry-on baggage rules are about to come to an end with the airline cracking down on customers taking oversized bags on board.

A Jetstar spokesperson confirmed the airline will introduce cabin baggage officers to crack down on passengers who try sneak on oversized or heavy carry-on luggage on board, instead of paying to check-in them in.

The officers will enforce the airline's carry-on size and weight l imits at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns and the Gold Coast airports on a trial basis.

Currently, Jetstar passengers without a checked bag can check-in online or at an airport kiosk. The boarding area is usually the first place they interact with a Jetstar staff member.

The airline will have officers positioned at some airport gates to ensure all passengers do not breach the maximum allowable size and weight limits for carry-on baggage. Passengers deemed to be taking on baggage that is too large and/or too heavy will likely face a higher baggage fee than what would have been paid at the time of booking.

The spokesperson said the airline was still finalising the introduction of the new roles and did not give a start date. Jetstar expects

the off icers wil l provide additional support” to assist ground crew at the boarding gate.

“Limiting the amount of carry-on baggage improves crew and other passengers' safety and will also speed up the boarding process so that our flights can get away on time,” the airline said in a statement.

Since the introduction of baggage charges, Jetstar domestic flights have become a battleground fo r cab in space w i th some passengers violating baggage allowance rules and taking excess baggage on board.

“We know that some of our customers become frustrated when there is a lack of overhead locker space for their bags,” Jetstar said in the statement.

D a v i d F l y n n , e d i t o r o f Australian Business Traveller, says the move is a win for people who fly frequently.

"This is welcome news for frequent flyers and I'd like to see more airlines copy this page from Jetstar's book," Flynn said.

"Many people who regularly fly for work are skilled at travelling light, bringing only carry-on or hand luggage, but find that precious real estate in overhead bins is annexed by fellow travellers who sneak oversized bags on board."

Jetstar's current carry-on baggage restrictions for all Economy Starter, Starter Plus and Starter Max passengers is one

main item (56cm height x 36 cm width x 23 cm dimension) and one other small item, with a total combined weight of up to 10kg. For Business Class passengers, it's two main items, as long as each item does not exceed 10kg, with a total combined carry-on baggage weight of up to 20kg.

Fees for check-in baggage at time of booking is $15.50 for baggage of up to 15kg, and $16.50 for baggage of up to 20kg, one-way. Fees for baggage checked-in at the airport, will cost Jetstar passengers $70 for up to 15kg of checked baggage, and $15 for every additional kilo after that.

The hass le o f car ry-on baggage became a huge global issue when airl ines introduced new baggage charges back in 2008. Budget airlines are more inclined to enforce the rules, but throughout most of the world carry-ons are rarely and only arbitrarily checked. And it's getting worse.

The introduction of Jetstar cabin baggage officers will be a first for Australia domestic flights.

“C lubs may, however, approach a player at any time about joining their club for the period commencing after his contract has expired.

“So, for instance, if a player is signed up until the end of the 2015 season, other clubs can express interest in signing him in 2016 but cannot seek to have them join their club in 2015.''

The Canberra Raiders' struggle to enforce the contracts of players who have agreed to terms is a prime example of how muddied the NRL's contract waters are.

THE NRL's contracting system is already a mess and it is about to get even uglier.

The NRL player market is now officially a free-for-all as the November 1 rule does not exist.

Player-agents and clubs were told in a meeting late last month that they can sign any player at any time to a new contract because the November 1 rule is a myth.

It will likely see clubs out of the finals make formal offers for stars playing in the finals this month.

Brisbane's off-contract stars Ben Hunt, Sam Thaiday and Josh McGuire can now receive formal offers from rivals as can North Queensland's Jason Taumalolo.

Now the November 1 rule is gone, an NRL star could sign a five-year deal one day and then another five-year deal with a rival club the day after.

Previously, NRL clubs were told not to make contact with a player until that player is in the final year of his contract starting November 1.

Paul Massey, head of the NRL's Accredited Player Agents Scheme, told an agents conference last month that the rule did not exist.

While some managers and clubs were already flaunting the rule, they can now it do it without fear of repercussion.

The NRL confirmed to The Courier-Mail that the only rule governing the signing of a player was that clubs can't entice a player to break an existing contract.

“Clubs are prohibited from approaching a player to switch clubs where doing so would require the player to breach his playing contract with his current club,'' an NRL spokesman said.

“This is based on a general prohibition at law regarding

Michelangelo Rucci looks at how deep Port Adelaide can go in this year's AFL finals.

PORT Adelaide needs just two qualities in its team to hold up to create history in this month's AFL final series — its players hunger to s u c c e e d a n d t h e i r willingness to work hard.

Since the AFL finals system was redevised in 2000 — to significantly reward the top-four teams — only two clubs have reached the preliminary finals from low-order placings. They are:

SIXTH-ranked Hawthorn in 2001 when the Hawks battered Sydney in an elimination final, defied Port Adelaide by three points in a semi-final at Football Park and then were harshly treated by umpiring in the first quarter of an epic preliminary final won by Essendon by nine points at the MCG.

SIXTH-ranked Collingwood in 2007 when the Magpies worked over the Swans in an elimination final, scored an extraordinary 19-point win against West Coast in the House of Pain at Subiaco and pushed eventual premier Geelong to within five points of an upset in the Friday night preliminary final at the MCG.

The Power this week could become the first fifth-ranked team to advance its AFL standing in September.

A preliminary final appears within reach as Port has so many lessons to digest from the eight-point loss

against Fremantle at Subiaco in the last home-and-away round. As a dress rehearsal, the game now works so much in the Power's favour — more so if Ken Hinkley's playing group has the match unfold to its script of quick movement to expose the damage by injury to the Dockers' defence.

A win in Perth takes the Power to the MCG for a preliminary final against a refreshed Hawthorn. That match-up against the AFL's defending champion lifts the bar

significantly, but not beyond Port's reach if Hinkley's players show the same appetite for hard work that created the 10-1 start to the season that included a 14-point win against the Hawks in round 10 at Adelaide Oval.

So how far does this ambitious Port Adelaide group go?

A preliminary final is more than likely.“I know we're going to go (to Subiaco) and give a real

good account of ourselves, though,” Hinkley said. “We certainly don't go over there with too many fears, we go over there with a bit of freedom to be able to play the game.”

A grand final — the third for the Power in 10 years — would be an extraordinary achievement. It is possible, particularly when Hinkley notes his players will turn up, have a go and never, ever give in.

Adam Docker a Kangaroo bolterKANGAROOS coach Tim Sheens believes he may have found his next Paul Gallen at the foot of t h e B l u e Mountains.

The four - t ime premier coach has earmarked hard-hitting 23 -yea r -o ld Adam Docker as a 'bolter' for t he Fou r Na t i ons tournament as back-up for unavailable back-row regulars Gallen and Nate Myles.

“Young Docker is a kid of the future,” Sheens said of the lock who represented Country Origin earlier this season.

“He's like a young Paul Gallen. He hits hard and works hard. He's about the same build at the same age. He'll be considered for sure.”

The veteran coach has been around rugby league for a long time — as a player in the 1970s and a coach for three decades — and he admires Docker's defence and all-round toughness.

“He's got the best tackling technique I've seen for a long,

long time,” Sheen said.“You go back to some of

those guys like Bunny Reilly (Roosters) and even Gary

Stevens (Rabbitohs).“He doesn't wrestle and

just hits and knocks them over. He hits very, very hard.”

The Panthers lock has one more game to serve in a two-match suspension and will miss the clash with the Roosters this weekend.

Docker is one of a number of Penrith players, who, despite being snubbed for State of Origin, have emerged as p o s s i b l e F o u r N a t i o n s contenders.

Jamal Idris, Matt Moylan and even Jamie Soward could be considered, depending on

injuries and the Panthers' finals progress.

While it seems highly unlikely, it has been proven this

year that nothing is out of the reach of this brilliant young football side.

“There's no doubt they are all going to be mentioned,” Sheens said.

“I was up at the game on Sunday night and they we re a l l impressive. Moylan is a kid of the future, there's no doubt about that.

“There's a lot of footy to be played and injuries can play a part too. Who knows

“It's interesting they didn't get an Origin player but we were the same at the Wests Tigers when we won the 2005 premiership.”

The Panthers have also had five players included in the Junior Kangaroos train-on squad.

Holden Cup stars Andy Saunders, Chris Smith, Kieran Moseley, Isaah Leo and Waqa Blake were in the squad.

Hamish McIntosh ruled out of Geelong's semi-final with North Melbourne

over 193cm is a candidate.”McIntosh has played 20 games this season, having not

played a senior game since Round 7, 2012 before that.“He's got a sore knee. He's had some knee issues

previously, this is not related to those issues,” Scott said.“This is a separate issue

that he's managed the last few weeks, he didn't play our last home and away game.

“We were hopeful that that would be enough to have him in good shape for the finals series, but he just laboured too badly on that sore knee on the weekend so we've got to do something about it.”

Scott said Steve Johnson and the medical staff are happy

with the way the midfielder's sore foot had pulled up after Friday night's qualifying final, and he had not been ruled out of this week's clash with the Kangaroos.

Allen Christensen (back) is also in the frame but must get through training while Steven Motlop will play against the Kangaroos.

GEELONG has been dealt a blow ahead of its semi-final showdown with North Melbourne on Friday night, with ruckman Hamish McIntosh ruled out with knee soreness.

McIntosh was the Cats' last recognised ruckman standing, with Dawson Simpson out for the year because of back surgery.

Coach Chris Scott said today it would leave Geelong having to field a makeshift ruck outfit against the Kangaroos on Friday night.

“Hamish is sore and he won't play this week,” Scott said.

“We're hopeful that Hamish can go through a rehab plan over the next week and a half to get himself in a position, if we're good enough to win Friday night, to play the following week.

“We've got a few options with Josh Walker coming into the team, we effectively played with three ruckmen last week so at bare minimum we could go in with Walker and (Mark) Blicavs in the ruck, but we've got some other more left-field options that we're considering as well.

$6million lawsuit because 'too fat to fly'A widower has settled his $6million lawsuit against three airlines who barred his late wi fe f rom p lanes because she was 'too fat' to fly.

Vilma Soltesz, who was 407lb, died at the couple's holiday home in Hungary after she was not allowed to fly back to New York City by Delta, KLM or Lufthansa in 2012.

Her husband Janos Soltesz, 57, settled his wrongful death suit last month for an undisclosed amount.

Vilma Soltesz, 56, from New York, who weighed 407lb and had her leg amputated after suffering from diabetes, died while on holiday in Hungary in October 2012 because she was told she could not board three separate flights

The suit said the couple were sent on a 'wild goose chase' across Europe in October 2012 by the airlines, which ultimately caused Mrs Soltesz's death.

Morbidly-obese Mrs Soltesz was also wheelchair-bound by an amputated leg and suffered from diabetes and kidney disease.

She was found dead at the age of 56 at her vacation home in Hungary in October 2012, days after several aircraft crews repeatedly failed to accommodate her size despite telling her they could do so, according to the lawsuit which was filed in federal court in Manhattan last October.

The couple left their Bronx home in September 2012 on a Delta Air Lines plane, securing two seats for Vilma and one for her husband. The couple arrived safely in Budapest on a vacation, according to the lawsuit.

By October 2, 2012, Vilma

Soltesz sought treatment at a hospital in Hungary when she fell ill. She was released and told she could fly home but to see her doctor immediately upon her arrival.

Mrs Soltesz, pictured with her husband during their airport ordeal, tried to board three separate flights to New York in 2012 but eventually died at her holiday home in Hungary. Her husband Janos settled his lawsuit last month for an undisclosed figure

In Prague although a local fire department were brought into to help move Mrs Soltesz into three seats assigned to her, they could not lift the 407lb woman out of the wheelchair

The pair tried to leave Budapest two weeks later on a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight, with seats similar to what they had on their flight from the U n i t e d S t a t e s , according to the suit.

But a captain t o l d t h e m t o disembark after Mrs Soltesz struggled to maneuver from her wheelchair into her assigned seats, the lawsuit says.

After waiting in a Budapest airport for more than five hours, the couple

drove to Prague to catch a Delta flight they were assured could accommodate them.

But Delta did not have an adequate wheelchair to transport Vilma Soltesz to her seat, the suit added.

' T h e D e l t a f l i g h t coordinator told Janos and Vilma that Delta ''did not have access to a skylift'' to get Vilma onto the aircraft from

the rear, and that there was nothing more Delta could do for them,' the lawsuit stated.

Later, on October 22, as several medics and firefighters helped her board a Lufthansa flight, the captain told the couple they had to disembark because 'other passengers need to catch a connecting flight and cannot be delayed further,' the lawsuit says.

'Exhausted and feeling ill,' Vilma Soltesz went to bed after the couple drove back to their vacation home in Veszprem, Hungary, the lawsuit says.

On October 24, Janos found her dead - nine days after she was supposed to have seen her doctor in New York.

Long fingers says bigger testiclesHow do your fingers measure up? If you're a man, it could reveal more about you than you thought.

Researchers say that the length of a man's index finger compared to his ring finger on his right hand is an indicator of his testicle size.

And the study claims that the digit ratio could be used to predict testicle volumes of any male.

Rearchers in South Korea say finger ratios affect the size of testicles. Men with larger testes were found to have longer ring than index fingers. The study was based on 172 Korean men aged 20 to 69 years old. In the image above, the man with hand on the left would have smaller testicles than the one on the right

The study was carried out by South Korean researchers from the Department of Urology at Gachon University Gil Hospital in Incheon and Seoul National University Hospital.

WHAT ELSE DO YOUR FINGERS REVEAL ABOUT YOU?

A previous study revealed that the size of men's and women's index and ring fingers is an indication of how attractive they are to the opposite sex.

According to the findings, a woman whose index finger is longer than her ring finger is likely to have a

s y m m e t r i c a l a n d m o r e appealing face.

For men, it is the opposite those whose ring fingers are longer than their index fingers are more likely to be attractive to women.

The discovery was made by Bernhard Fink of the University of Vienna, who measured the fingers of 1 0 0 m e n a n d w o m e n a n d photographed their faces using a digital camera. He used a computer programme to assess the symmetry of each face.

They found that adult males with a ring finger longer than their index finger on their right hand had larger testicles.

Conversely, men with a longer index finger compared to their ring finger have smaller testicles.

Prior to the study it had already been suggested that second to fourth digit ratio correlated with the male reproductive system.

This was based on the finding that Hox genes which help lay out how a person's body takes shape control finger development and genital development during the embryonic stage.

P r e v i o u s r e s e a r c h h a s suggested that the size of a man's testicle correlates with the volume of

semen he produces. In the study a total of 172

Korean men aged 20 to 69 years, already hospitalized for urological surgery, were enrolled.

F i r s t , t h e r e s e a r c h e r s measured the length of the second and fourth digits of each participant.

T h e n , s e p a r a t e l y a n d independently, an experienced urologist measured their testes size.

The results then showed that digit ratio was inversely proportionate to adult testicular volume meaning that a longer ring finger correlated to larger testicles and vice versa.

In the study the researchers also found that age and height did not have much effect on testicular volume, while weight had a marginal correlation.

In the study the fingers and testicles of the volunteers were measured in size independently and highlighted the correlation between finger and testicle size. However in the research no correlation between testicle size and age or height was found

Cut-off date for Australia NetworkIt's official. The lives of tens of thousands of Australian expatriates in Asia will change forever at midnight on September 28, hours after the AFL grand final.A stake will be driven through our souls. For months we have been in denial: how could it be true that our government could close the ABC-managed Australia Network service? No more footy, No more Virginia Trioli's face smiling behind her dark glasses early on ABC News Mornings, bringing us up to date with the latest from home and abroad. No more Tony Jones and Q&A. No more Zoe Daniel and Jim Middleton fronting their program The World, a showcase news program in Asia (Middleton, a fine journalist, has taken a package and left the ABC after 44 years). We won't of course miss some of the programming, like Channel Nine's The Block. But those of us who have been in Asia a while remember the sheepdog trials that were shown in the early days. Actually, I liked watching the sheepdog trials.OK, I acknowledge I am writing this

from the perspective of a passionate Collingwood supporter. I can't imagine what it will be like next season. I wake up in the night in a cold sweat thinking about the difficulties of trying to live-stream games on my dodgy internet. But this is more than an atrocity inflicted on those of us out here deprived of Four'N Twenty meat pies. For my children there will be no more Bananas in Pyjamas or Giggle and Hoot. How do you feel about that, Tony Abbott and Julie Bishop?About 80 jobs have gone as a result of the axing of the network which has operated since 1993, then known as ATVI.Lynley Marshall, the CEO of ABC International, announced the date of the closure in an email to staff and partners. "We will be terminating the

Australia Network service at midnight Austral ian Eastern Standard time on Sunday the 28th of September. We apologise for any inconvenience," she wrote.Oh, by the way, something called Australia Plus Television will provide a six-hour block of television from October 5, but details are vague about what will be shown or how to

see it.There is even a suggestion of pay-for-view content. Pay for our own ABC!What many of us out here do not understand is if there is a crushing need to save $223 million over 10 years by axing the service, why not just give us ABC 24? That would provide a forum for Asian nations to see how our robust democracy works and provide a reliable news service for Australians in the region. As the curtain falls, Ms Marshall left a glimmer of hope that sanity will one day prevail."Thank you for your support of Australia Network and the ABC over the years and we hope that one day in the future we may be able to partner you again," she wrote.

Walking can boost cancer survival chancesA study has claimed people with the two most common types of cancer can cut their risk of dying by up to 40% simply by walking a mile every day.

Research carried out by Macmillan Cancer Support claims walking for a mile (1.6 km) at a moderate pace of up to three miles per hour, or walking for around 20 minutes a day could reduce breast cancer patients' risk of dying by around 40% and those with prostate cancer by 30%.

The estimates are based on 150 minutes of moderately intense physical activity a week. This means walking must be 'brisk' and at a speed of three miles per hour or faster.

"For cancer patients,

physical activity can not only reduce the risk of dying or the cancer coming back, but can also help to manage some of the devastat ing side-effects of

treatment, such as swelling, fatigue or anxiety," said Ciaran Dev ine, Macmi l lan 's ch ie f executive.

"We cannot continue to turn a blind eye to what is a very simple and obvious solution. Physical activity is a wonder drug."

The research by Walking for Health, a network of walking groups run by Macmillan Cancer Support and The Ramblers, a UK-based walking charity, found

physical exercise can also reduce some of the side effects of cancer, such as anx ie ty, depress ion, fatigue, impaired mobility and fluctuating weight.

R e s e a r c h conducted in France released earlier this month f o u n d t h a t postmenopausal women the group in which breast cancer is most common

who had walked or cycled for four hours a week over the previous four years, were at a lower risk of being diagnosed with the disease compared with women who lived a more sedentary lifestyle.

Kuta Weekly 11 Sept - 17 Sept 2014 (404) Horoscope

Aries Mar 21 - Apr 20People often step back from a mirror to admire themselves properly. To see themselves in a more accurate way, it becomes necessary to view an entire picture. Often, background and surroundings play little part in the viewing experience as there are specific things being looked at, looked for and assessed. The coming week brings an opportunity for you to start assessing an aspect of your world and, to do this, you will need to be willing to see a bigger picture. A proverbial or literal 'step back' is needed. You're not in a position to make certain decisions unless you're willing to take into account all that a certain uncertain scenario involves.

Taurus Apr 21 - May 21People often talk about 'blowing trumpets' when they have something they want the world to know about. Sometimes, we admire those who feel compelled to draw attention to how good they are at something or any other information they want us to know. Yet, sometimes there can be little else more annoying than having to tolerate the unwanted playing of a trumpet. To make progress in an area you yearn to make it within, you're going to have to practice the art of subtlety. You won't be able to convey a certain sensitive point whilst blowing hard on a proverbial trumpet. Push aside tendency this week to draw attention to yourself and focus instead on the issue you know does deserve attention.

Gemini May 22 - Jun 22'Look before you leap'. For most of us, such advice is unnecessary. We know when to apply caution and tend to be very aware of the consequences of reckless behavior. Sometimes, we throw caution to the wind and decide that it might just be a bit more exciting to abandon caution in favor of indiscretion. I suspect you know where this forecast is heading. This week, concerted effort to remain calm and collected is required in an area of your world you might be inclined to take a large risk within. For some Geminis, this will involve matters monetary. For others, it could be their hearts on the line. What appears calculated might need a bit more calculating. Go slowly and sensitively and all will be fine.

Cancer Jun 23 - Jul 23'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.' So said American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson. It's a rare Cancerian who doesn't feel inclined to venture into and explore new territory but the sky speaks this week of opinions and advice from certain others coming into the equation. It's becoming increasingly clear that a risk must be taken. It could also be increasingly clear that others in your world have strong opinions about this and the potential mistake you might be making in their eyes. You have an excellent opportunity to forge ahead with a plan that suits you. If you're willing to ignore obstacles in the form of opposition from others, then you move a cherished plan ahead and eventually gain admiration and respect from doing so.

Leo Jun 24 - Aug 23I might be mistaken, but it appears there is a world sitting atop your shoulders. Actually, it appears there is another world at your feet. How on Earth are you managing to balance yourself above and below both of these worlds? It's true that you are carrying considerable responsibility yet it's also true that you might be oblivious to the opportunities becoming increasingly available to you. This week requires you to acknowledge how you do, in many ways, have the best of both worlds. The sky is encouraging you to acknowledge a particular obligation you have but, at the same time, how much you can achieve through remaining focused on what matters most to you. You're in a safer and more promising situation than you probably realize. Trust that.

Libra Sep 24 - Oct 23Fire tends not to respond well when fought with more fire. You could be inclined to adhere to an 'attack is the best form of defense' attitude now and the coming week is likely to ensure you recognize the benefits of dealing with a particular issue with sensitivity. You could be forgiven for believing you have a point to make and must therefore go to great lengths to ensure that a certain person is left in no doubt about how you feel. Avoid any tendency to engage in retaliation. Emotions are running high on your and certain others' part and you'd be well advised to use the element of surprise to your advantage – meaning do the opposite of what one or two other people are expecting of you!

Scorpio Oct 24 - Nov 22'Tomorrow is tomorrow. Future cares have future cures and we must mind today.' So said the Greek play writer Sophocles centuries ago. Was life any less stressful centuries ago? Perhaps, in many ways, it was but if we could have any dialogue with those living back then, we'd discover how much they had to worry about. A process is underway that has you looking more frequently at the future than you're possibly used to doing. This could have a knock-on effect where impulsiveness on your part is concerned. A situation, arrangement or budding relationship doesn't need as much urgency attached to it as you might be inclined to believe. There is much to be enjoyed about it here and now. Focus on what magic exists in the present and leave the future to unfold in its own way and time.

Sagittarius Nov 23 - Dec 21Patience, we are told, is a virtue. Yet, we know how summoning and displaying patience can be very frustrating. If we know there is something we want and can justify our reasons for wanting it, then we tend to see no reason why what we want can't be ours or at least made available in some way or on some level. Developments later this month could see your impatience in a particular area start to escalate. That's why you're superbly placed now to put in place a strategy that involves being realistic about timescales surrounding a particular aim or ambition. Expect this week to see reasons why you needn't pursue what's so close to your heart so aggressively.

Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 20You're being given the equivalent of a celestial kick up the backside now. Welcome it, don't resent it. Rarely do Capricorns need to be encouraged or reminded in such ways about what matters most and where focus is best placed but there's a strong 'continue as you mean to go on' element to what's happening now. The coming week is bound to present you with more than one reason to focus on what truly needs your attention and leave to one side – for now – anything or anyone that doesn't. During coming weeks, you'll have important personal decisions to make. The coming week could be pivotal in terms of helping you to identify what and who matters.

Aquarius Jan 21 - Feb 19When we hear the word 'creativity', what do we envisage? Artistic people donning French berets standing in front of easels or sculptors wielding hammers and chisels? Such people are undoubtedly creative but even someone who believes they don't possess a single creative molecule in their body still possesses the ability to apply imaginative solutions to problems. This week, you're being encouraged to adopt an imaginative approach to a particular issue. What has been applied in the past hasn't been effective and that's why you need to alter a particular strategy. All that's required is willingness on your part to try an approach that hasn't yet been tried but has been considered. That, in itself, is all the creativity you need to muster.

Virgo Aug 24 - Sep 23We don't need qualifications in psychology to know how to attract or repel people in our lives. We know what makes us approachable and others look for before offering support in any way. Strong emphasis exists this month on gaining support and approval in many ways and the process commences this week. You have something to offer. You needn't be apologetic about offering it. Through faith combined with effort, you can gain support from those you need it from. They're going to need some reassurance though that you do believe in yourself. Make that a priority this week and you'll soon see how willing certain people are to agree or follow.

Pisces Feb 20 - Mar 20Do you need a genie in a magic lamp to facilitate the realization of a particular dream? Not at all. The sky speaks clearly of you possessing all you need to make something very close to your heart happen. This involves a particular talent you possess and there is a clear link now between it and fulfilling a certain ambition. This week could have you pondering if whatever it is you're able to do is 'up to scratch' or at a level it needs to be if you're to progress its achievement. During coming weeks, it will become clearer what you can offer and how you can benefit from doing so but, for now, allow your belief levels to escalate. The boost you need to your confidence is coming.

"(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" is a song co-written by soul singer Otis Redding and guitarist Steve Cropper. It was first recorded by Otis Redding in 1967, days before his death on December 10, 1967 in a plane crash in Wisconsin that killed everyone onboard except Ben Cauley, the trumpeter in the bandIn August 1967, while sitting on a rented houseboat in Sausalito, Redding started writing the lyrics to the song. "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" became the first posthumous s ing le to reach number one on the B i l l board Mus ic Charts..

OriginsOtis was one of those kind of guys who had 100 ideas. Anytime he came in to record, he always h a d 1 0 o r 1 5 different intros or titles, or whatever. "Dock Of The Bay" was exactly that: "I left my home in Georgia, headed for the Frisco Bay" was all about him going out to San Francisco to perform.Together, they completed the music and melancholy lyrics of "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay."

Cover versions"The Dock of the Bay" itself has been immensely popular, even after its stay at the top of the charts. Michael Bolton (whose version of the song reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1988), Pearl Jam, The Format, T. Rex (as a b-side of "Dreamy Lady" on March 11, 1975), Brent Smith of Shine down (during an acoustic set in 2008) and Smith and Zach Myers (in a 2014 EP), Justin Nozuka (2007) and Sara Bareilles (2008). Playing for Change recorded a version featuring Grandpa Elliott, Roger Ridley, and other performers.

LegacyRedding was especially successful in the United Kingdom, where The Dock of the Bay went to number one, becoming the first posthumous album to reach the top spot there, and the following album, a greatest hits LP entitled History of Otis Redding, reached number one on the R&B charts and number nine on Billboard 200.

ReceptionRedding accepted some of the criticisms and fined tuned the song. He reversed the opening, which was Redding's whistling part and put it at the end as suggested. A few months before composition of Redding's most famous hit, British music magazine, "Melody Maker" named Otis Redding as the world's #1 vocalist. He dethroned Elvis Presley who had reigned for the previous ten years. "The Dock of the Bay" was released early in 1968 and topped the charts in the US and UK.On December 10, 1987, about 4,000 people gathered in Macon, Georgia, for a memorial service 20 years after Redding's death."Dock of the Bay" is redolent of a period and a culture. But more than that, its mood of contemplation, its atmosphere of quiet yearning mixed with a generation-hopping favorite.

Universal success"(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" was released in January 1968 amid the fall-out of Redding's death. R&B stations readily added the song to their playlists, which had been saturated with Redding's previous hits. The song shot to number one on the R&B charts in early 1968 and, from March, topped the pop charts for four weeks. The album, which shared the song's title, was released and became his largest selling to date, peaking at number four on the Pop Albums chart. "Dock of the Bay" went on to gain success in countries across the world, and brought Redding the greatest success of his career, selling more than four million copies worldwide and receiving more than eight million airplays. The song went on to win two Grammy Awards: Best R&B Song and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
