Come and learn the technical principles of portraiture to draw faces and bodies in pencil with confidence. 92 GARDEN GROWTH Wed 27 Sep (Full day) Tutor: Anney Bounpraseuth Age: 7 + yrs Time: 10am - 4pm Fee: $95 inc. materials In the morning, we will be using a variety of succulent plant cuttings as inspiration for a beautiful still life painting. Learn how to identify succulents and why they are so great for the Australian environment. We’ll use some basic hand stitches with different thread to create texture, line and pattern. Use your imagination to make an experimental abstract or figurative picture. Think “Alice in Wonderland”, “The Secret Garden”, “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” or Andy and Terry’s “Treehouse” series. In this workshop, we will read some classic garden stories and poems and explore the Arts Centre’s gardens and parklands to uncover writing ideas. We will make a miniature story garden to take home. 82 LET’S PLAY WITH CLAY! A long coil of clay can become a lizard, a bowl or a favourite character. The possibilities are endless and children enjoy the freedom to use their imagination for creative storytelling through clay pieces. Working with clay is a multisensory activity, that builds dexterity and encourages gross and fine motor development. It fosters hand- eye coordination, boosts self-esteem and its calming effect assists with attention span. Children learn basic hand building techniques and each child will have a wonderful time designing and crafting their very own piece of ceramic art. When enrolling, please specify which half day classes you want your child to attend.
