1.6.–12.8.Walking to the heritage farms A guided walking trip to the farms of Ollila and Mattila in Koli National Park. We’ll see farm animals and dip into the culture and history of the Koli Region. 16.6.–18.8.Scenic liftThe chairlift on the eastern side of Koli hills functions in summer as a scenic lift and in the winter as a ski lift. The difference in altitude is 212 meters and the length of the lift ride 770 meters, taking about eight minutes. Open daily 30.7.–18.8.2012 11 am–5.45 pm (pause 2 pm–2.30 pm). Summer Hiking tripsIn the Koli National Park there are about 80 kilometers of marked trails. The length of the trails are between 1,5 and 61 kilometers. The longer trips are also suitable for beginners as long as they remember to adjust their daily journey to their level of fitness. Vuonisjärvi, Studio, chapel and gallery-café of Eva RyynänenThe studio, home, gallery-café and chapel of the wood sculptress Eva Ryynänen are situated at Paateri, in the village of Vuonisjärvi, ca. 30 km from the the town centre of Lieksa towards Joensuu. Eva Ryynänen (1915–2001) created ca. 500 fascinating sculptures during her career. Her biggest single project, the unique Paateri chapel, was completed in the summer of 1991. Two years later another interesting building – the gallery-cafë – was built in the area. Paateri has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Lieksa.
