A great deal of information wasgathered from residents andbusinesses in the town. This includedfeedback on what mattered most topeople when it came to the futuredevelopment of the town centre andalso additional comments thatresidents wished to make.

The main headline from all thefindings was that improving the retailoffering in the town was the mostimportant thing for the community.

Retail is top priorityBack in March every household and business in Kirkby receiveda consultation document asking people for their views on thefuture development of the town centre. More than 1,600responses were submitted by post, online and through publicbuildings in the town. The findings have now been shared withthe community and our partners including Tesco.

What matters to you most?

We asked residents andbusinesses to rank, in orderof priority, what they felt werethe most important elementsto include in a new developmentin the town centre. This chartshows what the communityranked as number 1 in their listof priorities for the town centre.

Kirkby consultation results:

“The responsewe have had tothis consultation has been reallypositive and it was very clear fromthe findings as towhatmatteredmost to the people of Kirkby. Both inthe ranking of priorities and generalcommentsmade, the communitygave us very strong guidance thatimproving retail in the townwas onthe top of their priority list.

We have shared this feedbackwithour partners, including Tescowhoremain committed to investing in thetown. They are nowworking hard touse these finding to help shape newproposals for the town centrewhichwill concentrate on the things thatmattermost to the community.

Further consultation will take placeas this project develops. Visit ourwebsitewww.knowsley.gov.uk toview the findings report.
