What is Lynda.com?
Lynda.com is a collection of online tutorials that helps anyone learn software, creative, and business skills. There are over 2,900 courses available in subject areas such as animation, business, design, photography, education, software, and much more. The tutorials are delivered by experts who are the best in their field, passionate about their subject matter and know how to teach.

There are several ways to
access Lynda.com
Direct access is available
via our Lynda.com login
page: https://

From the Quick Links
section on the homepage
There is another link on our
eResources Page: Search
the Library > eResources
If you search the catalogue
for Lynda.com you will find a
record for it
Go to the Electronic Access
section and click the Access
online video tutorials link
To sign into Lynda.com with
you library account, you need
to go to specific login page
just for Hutt City Libraries
Enter your Library Card
Number and Library Card
PIN
Click Log in

First time users will need to
create a Lynda.com Profile
This will track what courses
you take and allow you to
save courses and lessons to
come back to later
Enter your Name and Email
Click Save
You can now use
Lynda.com

You can access many online
courses and tutorials on a
variety of subjects
To find a course, you can:
browse the library
search for courses,
authors, and more...
select one of the new
courses
If you hover the mouse over
the Library link, you will see
a list of subject areas on the
left
When you hover the mouse
over a subject area, you will
see a list of Topics and
Software in that subject area
Clicking on a course topic or
software will display a page of
related courses

Here are courses you would
find under
Business > Leadership
On the left, you can search
for courses by skill level,
software and author
On the right, you can sort the
courses by release date (i.e.,
newest to oldest) and by
course title (i.e. alphabetical
order)

Each course provides you
with a brief summary and
information about the course
Courses have a table of
contents, a transcript, author
information and FAQs. Click
on the tabs to view these
Some courses will also have
Exercise Files that can be
used with the course
To watch a video tutorial, click
on the links under the Search
this course box
If you want to find a specific
word in the course, search for
that keyword using the
Search this course box.
Search results will tell you
every time that word is used
Taking a Course
New courses are added every
week
You can see all new courses
or sort them by subject (e.g.
web design, programming,
business, photography etc)
New courses are grouped
into subject areas. Click See
All to see all new courses
available

tackle a subject?
Lynda.com have a collection
of curated Playlists of
courses and videos on topics
and software
Go Featured > Playlists
Click on a Playlist to see
what videos and courses are
included
Click the playlist’s plus icon, +
to add it to your profile

Bookmarks allow you to
save a video to your profile
Click on the Ribbon icon
next to a video to bookmark
it. Bookmarked videos show
with a red ribbon.

Above a course video you will
find the playlist button
You can add the current
video to a playlist or add the
entire course
Create Your Own Playlists
Once you choose to add the
video or course, you will be
prompted to add it to any
playlists you’ve made or
create a new playlist
Each profile has a 1 playlist
by default, My Playlist
To manage or view any
Playlists or Bookmarks
you’ve created, you find these
linked under your profile
Manage/View your Playlists and Bookmarks
