My Brother Knights, December was very busy for most of us and now it's timeto relax a bit and reflect on the events of the past month. Iwould like to start by thanking PSD Ken Smith for leadingus in praying the Holy Rosary to Our Lady before eachmonthly business meeting. I would also like to express myappreciation to all the Knights who work so hard to makeour Council one of the best. Keep it up! We drew the winning ticket for the shotgun raffle at theDecember business meeting. Steven Rossi from NewCastle was the big winner. His ticket was sold to him byPGK Chuck Beck. This fund raiser raffle was proposed andheaded up by DGK Dave Freeman. Thanks Dave, greatjob! Our combined Council and 4th Degree AssemblyChristmas Party was a huge success with 67 attendeesenjoying the festivities. Everyone had a delicious mealprepared by PGK Jim Baaden & his crew. Entertainmentwas by the "Steppin Seniors" from the Modern MaturityCenter. Thanks also to the ladies who decorated the tablesand provided some of the door prizes. The table cloths in our chambers were badly soiled, hadcandle wax dripped on them, and really looked a bit shabby.Brother Mike Ambruso had them cleaned professionallyand now they look fresh and clean. Thanks Mike, we reallyappreciate it! This was a perfect example of something thatneeded doing and Brother Mike stepped up and took careof it. Sometimes its the little things like this that reallymake a difference. Our Sunday breakfast went well, thanks to all ourbrother Knights and ladies who came in early to prepare themeal, set up the tables, collect the money, etc. Another job
well done by an outstanding group of dedicated people. The next Sunday breakfast will be on January 23rd. I had the privilege of representing our Council at theHispanic Celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass andFestival. Jan and I enjoyed being in the Procession ofFlowers to Our Lady and partaking of the delicious food atthe Festival. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patron Saint ofthe Americas. I also had the honor to represent our Council bypresenting checks to Moms House, Shepherds Place, andthe Samaritans Food Bank at Holy Cross Church. The spaghetti dinner held to support the bus trip to DCfor the March for Life will be held on Sunday January 16th.Please volunteer to work at this event for this veryimportant cause. We will be using our new (to us) concession trailer forthe first time during Dover's 1st Night. Be sure to pitch inand help work in it if brother Jerry Gilson calls you. Thisreally is our only means of raising funds for operating ourColumbian Home since rentals are drastically down fromyears past. Lets start the year off right by coming to the businessmeeting on Jan 6th (Holy Rosary at 7:30pm, meeting at8:00pm), and 1st Friday 8:00am Mass the next day at HolyCross Church. Jan and I wish you all a happy, blessed, and prosperousnew year, and may all your wishes and good dreams cometrue. Check out photos of some of our activities elsewhere inthis newsletter.
