The massive explosion in one of the fertilizer plants in Texas saw a massive fire thatwas responsible for the loss of hundreds of lives and rendered numerous familieshomeless without food, shelter and clothing. The tragedy has left many scars whichwill need quite some time to heal.The need of the hour is to look into the reasons that caused a tragedy of thismagnitude so that people can be more vigilant and careful in future while dealingwith high risk jobs and living in the vicinity of such highly risky areas. Part of thatinstant relief needs to be sent to people who have lost their loved ones in thistragedy. Apart from that the survivors who have been left without food and shelterneed to be taken care of.Knights of Columbus are at the forefront of taking care of people who have been hithard in this tragedy. According to a source in Knights of Columbus College Knightsfrom Baylor University, Council 13577; the University of North Texas, Council 14789and the University of Dallas, Council 14872 volunteered on April 20th at the mainrelief site in West Texas. Knights of Columbus have always been in the frontline tocoordinate and carry out the relief operation in such situations.

2. Apart from making their presence felt in the main camp, volunteers from Knights ofColumbus were seen helping in giving out the necessities and supplies near themain camp. These supplies were handed out to the people who had lost theirhomes in the devastating fire that followed the explosion in the fertilizer factory.According to Knights of Columbus Carl Anderson has a strong presence in the areaand Local Knights from the West seen helping to run the distribution site. In additionto carrying out the groundwork Knight of Columbus had begun distributing $10,000in funds to the people who were affected by the explosion. Another $10,000 hasbeen sent by the supreme office of Knights of Columbus from their New Havenoffice.Power of charity was visible in the acts of volunteers from Knights of Columbus asthey are trying to rebuild the lives of people who have seen the worst in theirlifetime.Knights of Columbus Insurance -Knights of Columbus was formed to render financial aid to members and theirfamilies. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needymembers and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted amongmembers and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare,war relief and public relief works.
