GRAND KNIGHT’S NOTES By Rolland Trahoon, Grand Knight

Brother Knights,

As I sit and write my final Grand Knights Report, I want to extend a special Thanks to all who have helped and supported me over my last two years. When I got involved with the Knights of Columbus I was looking for some way to help with the parish. Not knowing what the Knights did, I was told this would be a good avenue for what I was looking for. Upon joining I quickly realized the Knights were a very active participant in the community and the parish. Whenever the Knights are called upon the members find a way to lend a hand to help, from setting tables, cleaning and cooking for events, helping parish and community members in need, and the list goes on. As I move from my role as the Grand Knight, I still encourage any Catholic gentleman to visit with a member of the Knights. Take a minute to talk with myself or other Knights and find a way to get involved with the many things the Knights are doing in the parish and the community. Thanks again for the support from all!

NO JUNE MEETING

There will be NO JUNE REGULAR MEETING. We will resume regular meetings in July.

STATE GOLF TOURNAMENT

The upcoming State Golf Tournament can be a great fund-raiser for the council but it takes the effort of a lot of people. Note – you do not need to know anything about golf to help! Much help will be needed the weekend of July 21-23. Chairman Gene Ohlman and the committee have been meeting regularly planning for this event. Emporia has hosted this event in the past and has a reputation of putting on a great tournament. If you are able to help in any way with this principal fundraising event for the Knights please contact Gene Ohlman at gohlman@cableone.net or 620-794-2460.

KNIGHT OF THE MONTH June – Keith Dreiling

KNIGHTS NOTES Congratulations to the newest 1st Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 727, Nicholas Nelson. Nicholas joined the Knights of Columbus on May 22. Welcome Nicholas. Thanks to everyone who helped with the parade of flags at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Memorial Day. We’ll do it again on Veteran’s Day November 11th. Mark it on your calendar now. District Deputy Mark Runge presented Richard Haag with the District Knight of the Year Award. Congratulations Richard. The council is planning to participate in the ESU Back to School Block Party in August. Details to follow as they become available.

NEW OFFICERS

Newly elected officers will take their positions effective July 1, 2017. Thanks to those who have completed their terms. A special thanks to Rolland Trahoon for two years of dedicated service and leadership as Grand Knight.
