Our Approach
Our approach to Corporate Responsibility can be distilled into four main areas:• Do no harm – We work to protect our
workforce, environment and host communities from negative impacts
• Making a positive contribution – We aim to provide meaningful livelihoods for employees, and opportunities for suppliers and improvements in our host communities
• Acting ethically and transparently – We operate with respect for human rights and we engage with our stakeholders
• Continuous Improvement – We strive to improve our approach to corporate responsibility practices

Health and SafetyOur strong track record of operational excellence goes hand-in-hand with best-in-class performance in health and safety
• Total Reportable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) of 0.27 is:• among the lowest of our peers• on par with rates in low-risk non-industrial sectors • a record low for Kinross • an 18% improvement over 2017
• Our employees identified and corrected potential safety hazards at an average rate of 4.7 per employee, exceeding the target rate of 1.0 corrected hazard per employee.

Managing our environmental footprintWe are a responsible steward of land and water during all stages of the mine’s life cycle
• Complied with hundreds of permits and thousands of obligations, and had no reportable spills
• Received the top ranking from World Wildlife Fund Russia’s Environmental Transparency Ranking of Russian mining and metals companies
• Third-party reviews confirmed the safety of our active and inactive tailings facilities; zero geotechnical issues for tailings storage at nine active and five inactive/open sites

• Maintained high level of water recycling at 79%
• Intensity usage of water, energy and greenhouse gas emissions decreased
• Reclaimed 12 ha of disturbed land at closed sites, principally at Kettle River-Buckhorn, and 303 ha at active sites
• We completed the acquisition of two hydroelectric power plants in Brazil advancing our commitment to renewable, low-cost energy

Empowering local communities
• Recorded approximately 94,000 stakeholder interactions in 2018 – with majority positive feedback
• All sites have active mechanisms in place for community consultation and have implemented the Site Responsibility Plan, the Kinross management system for Community Relations
• Focus on “leading” (stakeholder engagements, beneficiaries, community investments) and “lagging” indicators (issues, grievances, complaints)
• Resolved five grievances in 2018, with zero substantiated cases of corruption or human rights violations

Engaging our Workforce
• 98% of employees are from host countries:• $718 million paid in-country in wages and
benefits.
• Board maintained 33% female diversity; new Chair of the Board is a woman
• Host country nationals in management positions increased to 85% from 80% year-over-year
• Launched 8 People Commitments to enhance our Kinross culture
• Voluntary turnover declined to 5.7%, indicating high employee engagement
• Zero retrenchments during the year

Empowering Local Communities
• $6.1 million spent on community programs and donations in 2018 and $2 million of in-kind donations
• Employee volunteer hours in 2018 were 12,916, an 87% increase over 2017
• Reached more than 830,000 beneficiaries (1.5 times local area populations)
• Our Chirano mine was recognized as the best company in Partnership of Community Development and Best Company in Stakeholder Engagement by Ghana’s 2018 Sustainability and Social Investment Awards

Ethics and human rightsWe have the highest standards of business conduct and operate in compliance with the law respect and adhere to internationally recognized human rights
• Launched an online training program to prevent against bribery and fraud
• Conducted an independent review of human rights and security at Paracatu
• Trained 100% of Kinross’ security workforce as part of our Human Rights Adherence and Verification Program (HRA&VP) and consistent with the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.
• Advanced our commitment to responsible procurement updating our Supplier Code of Conduct and Supply Chain Policy and strengthening the supplier due diligence process
